We were met at Ben Gurion Airport for a photo op and then invited downtown to the Ministry of Tourism. We had a wonderful time! I had another tour off Israel postponed in October, 2023 shortly after the Hamas invasion. Once again, they worked wonderfully with my group to get us rescheduled, which we were able to do in July 2024. In 2025, I had three Nawas tours of Israel. The last one was in June. While we were there, the 12-day war with Iran broke out. Amidst the sirens and Iranian missiles flying high in the sky, Nawas took care of my travelers and made sure that we were safe. Once the border to Jordan opened up, they safely arranged for us to cross the border into Jordan where they quickly arranged us to tour three days in Jordan before flying home. Despite the unexpected events, we all had a wonderful time. I already have two tours booked with Nawas in 2026 and will continue to use them for years to come.

When I first called to ask about travel insurance, I also asked her how much she would charge to look at flights & hotels for us. She immediately got very defensive and said she does not give away her services, you have to pay her if you want help with these things. Right, that's why I was asking how much she would *charge*. I wasn't born yesterday; I don't expect her to plan my trip for me for free. Anyway, she said that if we came in to her office and bought the insurance through her she would give us a few brief tips on what to do in Bora Bora. I thought that was really nice, and maybe she just didn't communicate well over the phone, so we set up an appointment. We arrived on time for our appointment but when we got there she was on the phone with someone else. My husband and I sat there waiting for her to finish her call for at least 10 minutes. When she got off the phone, she did not apologize for making us wait. We both thought this was rude. I think my husband was even more upset about it than I was - he is a very mild-mannered person in general but he thought it really indicated a lack of respect for us and our time. We went over the insurance and she proceeded to do exactly what you can do online, which is go to a travel insurance website, enter the ages of the travelers, dates of the trip and the cost of the trip and get a quote. She didn't seem to have any information about the insurance beyond was what easily available online. We looked at two different insurance companies with her and when we asked her questions about the differences in the two policies she just looked at the website and read off information to us. As for her "tips" about what to do in Bora Bora? The only tip she gave us was to go there on a cruise ship called the Paul Gauguin which was apparently having a sale at the time. I know the Paul Gauguin is really lovely (my parents actually sailed on it a few years ago) but we explained that we didn't want to take a cruise for several reasons (among them, that we wanted to stay in those awesome overwater bungalows) and she still kept pushing it. In addition, we were locked into very specific dates on both ends and I asked her if the Paul Gauguin would fit in our dates. She assured me it would. When I later looked at the brochure for the cruise that she gave us, the embarkation date lined up with our arrival date, but the disembarkation date was one day after we had to return to the US. We had told her our dates from the beginning and I had emphasized over and over again how inflexible the dates were on both ends. Yet she still kept recommending this thing that would obviously not work with our schedule. At our meeting she said she would email us that night a policy with our information filled in, so that we could just fill in the total trip cost and send it back to her. She never sent us any email. I got busy and put trip-planning on hold. A few months later I contacted her again with a couple of specific questions about the insurance, specifically about the insurance in the event of cancellation due to work reasons, because I wanted to make sure it would give us the coverage we needed before I bought the nonrefundable plane tickets. She responded with general information about the policy but she did not answer my questions. She also said that the regulations had changed and she was no longer able to buy insurance for us. She also wrote me: "Normally, if you let your boss know the cost of cancelling your vacation, they won't do so. I always get my vacation time pre-approved, and I've never had a boss who reneged on that agreement (in 35+ years of working)." I work in an industry where cancelling planned and paid-for vacations at the last minute is definitely not unheard of and I had repeatedly emphasized this to her on our phone calls and at our meeting (this was the whole reason we wanted insurance for this trip). Her experience with her bosses in a completely different industry is absolutely irrelevant to how likely I am to have to cancel my vacation and this statement was completely unhelpful (and, in my opinion, quite condescending). We ended up purchasing online (by ourselves) one of the two insurance plans we had discussed. I'm still not 100% convinced we were covered for the things we needed, but in any event we did not have to cancel the trip and we had an absolutely amazing week celebrating our anniversary in Bora Bora and Moorea. So it turned out ok for us, but I don't think we got anything out of consulting with her and I was really unimpressed by how little she seemed able to listen to us and help us plan a trip that met our needs versus pushing her pre-planned cookie cutter itineraries on us.

I don't have access to my flight credits or hotel reservation - they are holding onto everything in their name. I am out $7,000 for a trip I never took, for circumstances I had no control over. With these shady business practices, I wouldn't be surprised if this company goes under before the pandemic ends, then I'll really have NO chance at getting my money back. I'm pursuing legal action and filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Department of Consumer Affairs, an Department of Transportation. I've learned my lesson, I will never use a travel agency again! Update: 8/15/20 Our travel agent told us that she couldn't get a refund on our flights and they would have to apply our money as a future travel credit. She even argued with me that our flights to Belize were NOT cancelled at the peak of COVID. All in all, it was a terrible experience and below are some of the reasons why: 1. Pricing for vaccinations are ridiculously high. 2. We mentioned that the cities we are going to are Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Phuket, Koh Samui, and Bangkok. One of the prescriptions we were given was for atovaquone-proguanil, which is anti malaria medication. After picking up the prescription, I looked up malaria risk for each of the cities we are going to and essentially found that all cities either have no malaria or very little risk of it. 3. One of the vaccinations we received was for rabies, which is a 3 shot vaccination. At our initial visit, we were given a quote which had all of our vaccines. While the price was high, we moved forward anyway as we didn't want to risk catching anything on our trip. We end up getting the first 2 rabies vaccines, then when we went back to Passport Health to get our 3rd shot we were told there was an additional fee. This fee was NOT mentioned when we were given our initial quote so we were wondering how this one came about. It felt like we were blindsided by it. Again, these vaccinates are not cheap (i.e. over $1,000 per person). I think the price for all doses should have been listed from the very beginning, not the price for 2 and then you tell us the price for the 3rd later. 4. We were supposed to receive a card, which had the vaccinations we got listed on there. This wasn't provided to us and I didn't realize it until we went to another Passport Health location. Points #3 and 4 were mentioned to the lady working at the clinic and the response was very defensive. We certainly did not see eye to eye at all. At the end of the day, I would not recommend this place to anyone and I personally would never go back.

Some examples of her incompetence are as follows: I asked to her clarify overnight parking rates at our Sydney hotel in order to make a rental car decision. When she informed us that parking was $3/day we decided to rent the car on an earlier date. The actual parking rate was $29/day. I assume that any "Australian specialist" would have an understanding of reasonable rates and would have personally questioned the rate before misinforming a client. During an initial call with Melodie, I mentioned that my wife is a foreign national. She said that VISAs would be no problem and that she would apply for us and even pay the fee. A week before our departure she panics and finally informs us that I must personally apply for a VISA for my wife, fill out the documents, UPS the documents to the Australian Embassy in Washington DC and pay all fees to expedite the VISA process. Again, I would assume that an "Australian specialist" would understand the VISA requirements or at least verify any non-US requirements before making empty promises to their clients. Melodie arranged for a diving trip in the Great Barrier Reef. When I informed her of the rates that the service provider she chose, Poseidon Cruises of Port Douglas, quoted us directly her response was "that would be one huge bargain". She however refuses to clarify how much I actually paid for the diving trip. After various mistakes Melodie Kennedy made came to light, I questioned her numerous times how she actually arrived at the total price of $10,853 that she charged us.
