5 stars for one of the best burgers I've ever had - hands down. Place is tucked away in Ozone off HWY 23. The fam and I were on a tiny road trip and wanted something yummy to munch on. All 3 of us got the burgers, fries and husband got the homemade pork rinds (YES. So good). The burgers are gigantic in size and absolutely mouth watering. The fries were perfectly seasoned and yummy. All of us ate everything. Wish the burgers weren't so pricy but it's in a very rural setting so.. I get it. 100% will be back! read more

Of all the small, rural eateries I've stopped at, this was by far the best. The place had just reopened and I had the pleasure of being the first paying customer. The dining experience was no frills, with the burger served in a to go box and three napkins, as promised. However, the burger itself was incredible (I smashed the bun in the picture provided so it would all fit!) and the barn is located on a hilltop off the most beautiful, scenic highway in the area. Will genuinely be making the hour long trek back into the hills just for a burger soon! read more

Amazing meal, timely and delicious! Great atmosphere and easily accessible! Pulled up, checked out scenery, ordered and while meal was being cooked fresh, I walked around the property and was higky entertained by scupltures, signs, and artwork. When the food arrived it instantly captured me by scent and then I noticed the "jumbo" size of my "jumbo" burger and my eyes were intrigued as well. With the first bite I knew that the burger was one for the books. Though I am about a 2 hour drive away from ozone, I will return to experience the Ozarks, Atmosphere, and these Burgers! read more

cash only here. mini barn grill not close to anywhere really except our Air BnB. Ramshackle property with broken and interesting things all around. A few small outdoor "dining" areas. Off season menu doesn't match what is shown on their website currently. Hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, maybe something else I don't remember. Fries come with burgers. Don't remember seeing any other side options. Simple order-one with and one without cheese. Burgers were fat, juicy handfuls. Like the ones your dad made on the grill out back (although the bun wasn't able to hold up to the condiments). And the fries are similar to a local chain where I'm from so I loved them. (Maybe cooked in old oil based on the dark color though). These were a top-notch burger available on a lovely drive through the Ozarks. And to anyone complaining about the cash only thing, you need to realize that the fees charged by banks for using credit cards can do serious damage to the bottom line of a small business like this one. Sorry if it keeps you from enjoying the food here. If you see them as you drive by, give them a try. read more

Yes, the guy at the window is a little cranky. I had to convince him I would get VERY ill if I ate cheese so he would keep it off my reuben. But my holy cow, that was the best reuben I've ever had. ($7) Great grilled, buttery bread, with good meat and plenty of thousand island. The burger was huge, cheap, but lacked some flavor. ($6) I am VERY picky about my burgers, tho. Fries are well-fried and only $1.50 more to add to a sandwich. Very worth it. I will be getting a reuben and fries here often. read more

hidden gems like this place are always a great find - this one is no exception. had the bacon cheese burger with fries and it was excellent (tasted great & nice price) location is interesting, has lots of nic nacs around and different styles of seats. Does have a restroom, but it is quite small and the worker wasn't as friendly as I'd hope, but definitely worth a second stop. read more

So my girlfriend and I just got done hiking the Whitaker trail and seeing Hawksbill Crag and well we definitely did not pack food well. And the closest place to eat? This endearing Southern rural food shack. I didn't know what to expect when I saw it on google maps, but we were hungry. In any case, upon arrival my girlfriend saw the confederate flag and was slightly offended being that she was from Massachusetts. I on the other hand, was from Southwest VA and I was fairly used to seeing the rebel flag so it was no big deal for me. So, this is one of those order and then eat outside type of places. It looks like a small barn that they cook their food in, so it makes sense to call it a burger barn. There are porta-potties around so if you need to go make sure you bring like wet naps/alcohol wipes or something. She ordered the taco salad, stuffed jalapenos, and I got the frito pie out of morbid curiosity. In retrospect if I had read the Yelp reviews I probably would have gone with the burger, but I also decided to go with the frito pie out of nostalgia for King of the Hill. She had her order taken by a lady instead of an apparently rude guy according to the comments. My girlfriend primarily ate the lettuce and tomatoes, and left the nacho chips. I ate all of my frito pie because I've never really been a picky eater. That being said, it slightly upset my stomach later but I only have myself to blame for that. It is after all, frito chips, cheese, and chili meat. The stuffed jalapenos didn't taste like they were freshly made, but I'm not really complaining. A nice lady saw us eating and mentioned that she likes the food here and said she always gets too much and gave me a piece of her catfish. Catfish was good, but really I'm sure everybody in Arkansas knows how to make good fried catfish. Speaking of "cat" there are a bunch of cats all over who won't let you pet them. That being said, they do warm up if they see you with food. My gf and I didn't feed them nonetheless. The place does not accept credit/checks, and only cash which makes sense because credit card companies charge transaction fees and this was a small business out in the middle of the country. I find places like this endearing and I don't mind the earnestness of it. If you are lucky enough to be able to get a signal to navigate here, give it a shot. At the very least you'll have a story to tell and an interesting memory. read more

Best burger I've had in a really long time. I was warned about the burger nazi behind the window and will pay that favor forward here :) He got the nick name based on his customer-skills compared to Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. He's the American version and is super grumbly and gruff/ troll-esque in his demeanor - so brace yourself and try not to ask too many questions lol (as the person who is gluten-intolerant, dairy intolerant and ordered my 3 napkin burger on a lettuce wrap I know it didn't help our relationship but I'm a NY Italian and have VERY thick skin so I think he's a blast!) :) It's a fantastic burger and when I hanker for a killer burger...that's where I will go every time! How perfect! We were exploring the ozark national forest and happened upon the Burger barn. This place is super cute and not expensive. It looks like it would have been a fun place to sit and eat but we stayed huddled in our car because it was snowing out. The bacon burger was surprisingly tasty and so was the big cup of chili. Happy we found this place! Wish the man here had known what there was to see in the forest, though. This was all we ended up visiting here! I have stopped many times. This was a nice drive and a wonderful place to get a bite to eat everything I have ever eaten the cheeseburger and french fries to fish dinner and ice cream is incredible. The guy who owned this passed away. They called him smiley. If you ever stopped there you will know no was not a smiley guy but had a rye sense of humor. His family runs it now. If you are a germophobe skip this joint. A chicken and a couple of cats were very at home on top of the picnic tables provided for on site dining. No running water. Portolet for the bathroom. Eclectic place yes, sanitary no. Health Dept inspector blood kin?? Food was OK but overpriced (three double cheeseburgers and an order of fries was $38). Good hamburger but the onion rings were terrible. They are not homemade and there was not a trace of onion taste to them. It was a hot day and the flies were really bad at the picnic tables outside. A small restroom with a handwashing sink would be a plus. Not very sanitary. read more

What a great find. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. We shared some crab cakes, fries and The Ozone Burger. "It burger comes like it comes"! in the ozark national forest you find one of the best drives in arkansas (ozark Highlands Scenic Byway route 21). it has beautiful views and farms on this wonderful winding road. about 20 miles or so before you reach clarksville you'll find another gem. the ozone burger barn. i got the big burger w/ cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mayo, mustard and fries all for $8. to my surprise, for a small place they have a very good menu. the food was excellent. the best part was sitting by the fire eating my food with good company. the people that own the place welcome me like i was family. swapping stories and sharing some laughs. it was like a family cookout with better food. i almost hated to leave. it was a perfect way to end my day. every small town should have a place like this!! real food by real people!! :) read more

We stopped by on a motorcycle trip during Bikes, Blues and BBQ in Sept. 2013. When we stepped up to order the man in the barn did not seem very happy to see customers at his business (we were the only people there at the time). We ordered anyways and when the food came up he set it in the window and turned away just to leave it for us. I went up to get my food and said thank you to be met by a nasty glare. When I opened my cup of ice to pour my warm soda into I realized he gave me his cup of mostly drunken something. I went up to the window and asked for a cup of ice and he told me that he had already gave me one. I showed him what was in the cup and he said that he gave me his and started to give me a new one. At this point he started yelling at me telling me it was a accident and I needed to calm down and shut up. The funny thing is I didn't say anything. If I didn't already pay I would have just left. About 5 minutes later about 7 people showed up and started ordering he yelled at ever single one of them as well. Just left(forced to leave) the Burger Barn. Patron in front of us ordered and we noticed the owner had an attitude while taking her order. First guy in our group went through his order and again the owner was rude and acted like we were burdening him by giving him our business. Second guy in our group placed his order and again the owner was rude saying "did you not hear what I told your friend?? I just got here and have too much going on to make a milkshake". So our buddy proceeded to say "well I tell you what you can do, you can take my stuff off your list". The owner then told us we could leave so we gladly left.
