He told me that the job was "enormous" and gave me an incorrect contact email which bounced back. I called once more to clarify the email address, and that's when he rudely told me once more about how "enormous" the job was again and went into a tirade on how stupid of a request it was. Obviously, we decided to go with another, more professional company in NJ who said they'd do it in a week, no fuss. Bottom line? Caulfield doesn't give a sh*t about new clients, are abrasive to women (AND I still haven't gotten a reply to my email) and are seriously unprofessional. Please go with a suburban NJ surveyor and you'll get MUCH better customer service.

This architect is disgustingly unprofessional and more importantly, a bad person. He was 15 minutes late to our meeting, walked in while I was speaking to his co workers, Jasmine and Dong, and was completely dismissive about the entire meeting. When I started to ask him about the next steps to move forward, like how to pull permits and the pricing for the design, he completely FLIPPED out telling me why would he pull permits when that's the contractor's job? I was a bit taken aback since my previous architect pulled permits alongside my contractor. He then started to allege that I use unlicensed contractors. I started to wonder what he was getting at and why he was being such a rude jerk. He then had the nerve to pull out the BIS gov website and ask me about the contractor I used and the address. When I tried to tell him the architect firm, he got very angry and said why would I care about the architect? HELLO! You asked who pulled the permits! He found my previous project and everything was up to code. This guy is disgusting. There is NP way he's a legit architect because he doesn't have any skills on how to speak to clients. Stay away. You can find architects who pull permits alongside the contractors. This means he has very bad relationships with the DOB.

They did great work before, and I was very satisfied then, but this time I didn't choose them. I read some recent negative reviews online, and their salesman didn't always get back to me in a timely manner about my quotes and answering my questions. I also asked if his company could repair a gate that needed to be rehung. He told me "No, my company doesn't do repairs. We replace." Well, that was not an answer I wanted to hear. So, I then went and got my second estimate, which was from Design Fencing. Their original quote for my project from Design Fencing was several hundreds of dollars higher, but Michael, their salesman, worked with me on lowering the price to my satisfaction. Michael also told me that his company would be willing to rehang the gate that I wanted to be fixed. Michael was very persistent asking if I had questions or concerns. He sent me frequent updates and texts asking if I had made my decision in choosing a fencing company. He didn't pressure me, but he was persistent in his communication, which greatly impressed me. He sent me a link to check out his company's positive reviews, and he also discussed with me his company's warranty policy. I decided to hire Design Fencing. I gave Michael a deposit of $540.00 to order supplies, and the balance was due after the job's completion. Michael told me that the fence would be put up three to six weeks later, which was fine with me. I paid by check since a credit card payment would incur a charge. The fence was put up within that time frame that we discussed. Joe, a middleman, worked with me on connecting with Anthony, his foreman. Today, Anthony arrived with two or three workers a little after 9 AM, and they were done with the project about 12:10. I was told it would take about three hours, and it did. Before they began, Anthony and I went over what was to be done and to make sure we were both on the same page. He then asked for access to an outdoor electrical outlet and to water to mix cement. The job was completed quickly and efficiently. Anthony and his crew cleaned up and took away an old gate that had been up before that was replaced with a new gate. Anthony was friendly and professional. His workers were also polite and pleasant. Even though Design Fencing's quote was still higher than my first estimate from my previously used company, I decided to go with Design Fencing for their great reviews, warranty, and their great communication with me. I figured the extra money spent was worth it. So, assuming my fence will be sturdy and last for years to come, I greatly recommend Design Fencing!

Recently, however, my attempts to have the wall removed were met with unanswered e-mails and phone calls, attempts to double the original estimate to remove the wall ("due to the pandemic"), and finally the most unprofessional and rude interactions with Danny when I asked for clarification about how to acquire a certificate of insurance. I called another reputable company the same day and my wall will be removed next week.

His guys came in in the morning, measured the area, came back within an hour and put up the wall up before the end of the day. I happily offered to write a glowing review because Jonathan was responsive, polite, and very easy to work with. I almost never write reviews, but I had to make it a point to do so because they really did a great job. The wall looks amazing, it was exactly what we needed, when we needed it, and within our budget. The nature of NYC forces you to be very assertive and clear about all details when you're hiring someone for a job, because workers can be sneaky, they can throw in costs you weren't prepared for, and they can't always be reliable in timing/delivery.
