I was initially impressed with the positive reviews I received after speaking with several neighbors that had used this company. Ruben de la Fuente, the owner, came on time to assess the job. He gave me good advice on project details, concrete characteristics, design options, job phases, and suggestions based on his vast experience working with landscape designers and architects. Though his initial quote was higher than the others, he was flexible in bringing down his price to be more competitive. After a few weeks of discussions and having my questions answered, he started the project on time. The demolition went smoothly removing chunks of broken concrete with his Bobcat compact loader and filling several truck-loads of concrete. The grading was done skillfully and with the proper angles and grading. The pouring and finishing were done quickly and expertly with the help of an additional 8 man finishing crew. Throughout this process, Ruben and his team worked seamlessly in concert with each other. Nicolas, "Nico", the lead worker was accommodating to my requests and willing to answer all my questions. He like Ruben, was polite and attentive to my concerns throughout the project. Not only did Ruben finish on time, but he went above and beyond what was expected by including a drainage pipe and power washing my driveway to better match the new concrete. I wish I can give a review rating of more than 5 stars for this concrete company. Ramon and his crews are truly the gold standard in the concrete business! They just completed a major concrete project for my house totaling over 2,400 sq ft of concrete and done to perfection! I got a bunch of quotes for this concrete project at my house recently and talked to a bunch of different concrete companies and personnel. I found Au's quote to be the most comprehensive and cost-effective out of the six of so quotes that I received. Also, Ramon came across as prompt, pleasant, courteous, top tier, and highly experienced in concrete work (he worked the Sixth Street Bridge project in LA for years - pouring all that concrete!). I figured that I would be in good hands with Au Standard Concrete and Ramon and selected their bid for the concrete work for my house. In hindsight, I was totally correct when all is said and done! The work proceeded without a glitch (well at least from my home owner's perspective anyway). Everything progressed smoothly as promised and finished promptly right on the day Ramon promised it would be done. Ramon and his crew showed up promptly @7am every day to first perform the demolition, excavation, base prep, and forms for the concrete pour. Then on the day that the concrete trucks were scheduled they showed up promptly at 5am to prep the site for the concrete pour then finished the concrete and performed final site cleanup, all done by 2pm in the same day. The resulting concrete was just beautiful and met and exceeded all my wishes and expectations. Ramon added important touches to my concrete project that I did not even think of nor requested/specified in my original bid, such as giving my circular gazebo concrete pad a slight slope from the center of the circle out to the outside perimeter to facilitate water draining in the rains. Ramon and his crews did exceptional work. They made this major concrete project at my house look easy with all their experience, right personnel, and the right equipment. They also had great manners and lots of respect for my house and property while working this concrete project at my house. My house was left in better shape than when they started the work. I am beyond pleased with the end results. I am also happy with the costs which was very reasonable. The "adu calculator " then says I need a phone Turns out this is just another contractor using slimy tricks. I got a call from this company. I told them about the the adu calculator issue. They said it was a problem with the website. I asked what the costs are for a basic ADU. She said "around $100K". Then she said it would be around $250K. I said what do you get for $100K. She said "nothing ". I asked why she threw out that number. She gave me a bunch of excuses like that she hadn't worked there long or she was unauthorized to give numbers. Either way this is just another contractor rather than a legit ADU calculator and they likely have no interest in actually giving objective real world estimates Stay away from them!

Whether it was just not worth the cost, add value to our home/lifestyle or a find potential alternative/balance. The statement of work he provides is fully laid out and he explains line by line to ensure we're on the same page. Payments were scheduled for specific milestones. This was our first major remodel endeavor, so quite an exciting and scary process considering the potential investment and living adjustment during the process. We initially reached out to Solomon regarding adding square footage to our home. A 4' bump forward, adding an additional bedroom, and bumping the back of our house for a new kitchen. He was very clear up front of the overall process, timeline and expectations to ensure we knew the order of sequence of how the project would roll out. He spent a good 6 months with us during the planning and design phase, from engineering, blueprinting and permitting. We also visited some of his previous customers and talked to his customers and they all shared the same sentiment of his approach and quality of work. While we did not end up moving forward with the remodel, as we decided to purchase a new home, we did however need to get our home rent ready. This included a new roof, new gutters, stucco, paint exterior, retaining planter wall, new porch and backyard deck. Without question we stuck with Solomon and he was more than happy to work with us, while a smaller scope of work it was still quite a lot of moving parts. All while also re-leveling and tiling my mother in law's balcony. It's important to understand that any significant project requires a partnership and open communication. Bumps are expected but the open communication we had was all it took to make sure both parties were on the same page. It's also important to note that it's also my responsibility as the customer to be available and respond in a timely manner to ensure his teams stayed the course as key decision points. The end result was exactly as we expected. This is a review based on our experience with Frank and his company earlier this year. At first, Frank came across like he seem to know the 'lingo' of asphalt contracting. After vetting through other companies, we decided to go with Asphalt Paving Services but just as others mentioned here, Frank was very difficult to get in contact over the phone. It was after couple of voicemails and email exchanges later that we finally agreed on a contract and work began in late January. Unfortunately, we discovered (too late) that his promises were just words. Frank was incapable of fulfilling the project as contracted. Pictures speak louder than words and as you can see the poor work on the property sustained during this construction. The project was slated for 2 days with 1 day extra for 'drying' time. But the first day started with just Frank and another worker, then soon after Frank disappeared for hours, leaving one guy to do most of the work. We have a 50+ unit and scheduling all the resident parking to require many parts to coordinate - from LADOT, LAPD, and local council office - not to mention all the residents who had to park on the street. At the end of the 5th day, when it was clear that the parking lot was never going to be finished, Frank was asked to leave the property at around 10PM. On most nights, he kept working extremely late into the evening, even up until almost 11PM, even after we had asked him to stop working. We've asked numerous times for Frank to communicate with us about the timing of the project because we were scrambling to contact the LADOT, LAPD and the council's office for the extra days where we would have needed permit for the residents to park overnight. In short, this project became a nightmare for our management. Everything they did for this project of 20,000+ sq foot was done MANUALLY. There were no rollers on-site, his striper machine exploded and was not working, half the day trying to fix it. (SEE PHOTOS) When Frank over-purchased a mass quantity of asphalt on the second day, he failed to use it within the time when it was heated. It had hardened to the point where it was blocking the front part of our parking lot and Frank had two of the workers attempt to remove the mount manually for TWO DAYS! (SEE PHOTOS) After Frank's failed to complete our project and breach of contract in, we had to hire a different asphalt contractor on an URGENT Sunday call, to have the huge mound of the asphalt removed properly. To make matters worse, we found that he videotaped our property - without permission - to use as part of his advertising on Google. It seems Frank spent more time videotaping and talking about what to do rather than actually doing the work on-site. (SEE PHOTOS) [Frank Aragon: Please REMOVE any PHOTOS/VIDEOS you've POSTED ILLEGALLY of our property on Google and your website that you have it online still. You have not - and were not be given - any permission to post our property for the use of your advertisement.
