We had a problem with the stone on our jacuzzi spillway deteriorating. It is a crucial stone and not easily replaced. We got Eddie's name from La Canada Rustic Stone, who has never steered us wrong. Our original driveway was severely cracked due to tree root damage and was also collecting water in front of our garage due to a lack of proper grading and drainage. I reached out to Edwin at Monroe Masonry for a quote and explained the issues we were facing as well as what we were looking for. Edwin provided honest, straight forward advice and solutions and promptly emailed me an estimate and plans for exactly what I was looking for. His pricing was fair and I felt confident in his ability to deliver quality work. Now that everything is done I am completely blown away by the quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail by Edwin and his crew. Edwin went above and beyond, with improvements to our driveway that I didn't even originally ask for. He noticed that the 4x4 support beams for the roof overhang in front of my garage were pretty flimsy and would not withstand the forces of an earthquake well and suggested installed steel plating at the footings of the beams planted in a concrete base (see photos). He also replaced our sewage clean out which stuck out above our brick in front of the house and replaced with with a more modern cover that was flush with the brick. The flooding we were facing in front of the driveway is entirely remedied by the drainage installed with improved grading throughout the 1500sq ft of driveway to a central drain which goes out through our planters to the city street underneath the sidewalk. Edwin handled all the city permitting to deal with the sidewalk demo for us and generally kept us very well informed throughout the entire project. I cannot recommend Edwin and his team enough. Any concrete or masonry jobs I have in the future I will go through him. Another great find, thanks to Yelp. If you're looking for competitive quotes or can't decide who to use, I'm telling you: don't go anywhere else...hire Monroe Masonry!! We needed to widen our driveway, redo our front stoop, fix up and cap a cinder block wall, patch a few spots along the cinder block wall, and fix some brickwork out front. Worried that our job was too small, I messaged Edwin to see if this would be something he could help us with, and we are very thankful that he said yes! Edwin came by only a few days after our initial messaging to check out the work that needed to be done. He came back with a fair quote and the team got to work just a week later. I am so pleased with the work that Edwin and his team did for us. We had a complicated project. One that I have been dreading for years. A long concrete pathway to our house, our only entrance, that I only own half. The neighbor owns the other side with multiple cottages. I have been patching it myself (adding in polymers for adhesion) for years to avoid dealing with/disturbing the neighbors and to prevent my young daughter from tripping on it. I am a DIY person and have some basic concrete pouring/patching experience (sculpture background). Very happy with the project! Loved working with Edwin and his team. They were extremely professional from the start. Edwin came out to quote and advised us where to get permits and what to apply for. (We patched a cinder block wall and added cement patio). Price wise he was reasonable and fair, compared to the other quotes we got. Before the job started he had arranged a port-o-potty + dumpster to be delivered. Their guys were extremely friendly, professional, respectful and picked up after themselves! (Also all wore masks) They capped the sprinklers + created fancy new drains along the sides of our cement to flow out instead of reusing our old drains. The entire job took 1.5 weeks (With cement drying in-between and memorial day holiday).
