For quite a while, the dishwasher at my mother's house has not been cleaning efficiently. It has been repaired a few times, with the last technician saying that if it "happens again, a new dishwasher would be necessary." Welp. So my sister and I decided to just buy a new one, so it would work correctly without worry, and we could keep our sanity during a tough period. A little background here - all siblings and SO have been staying at my mom's since she is deteriorating rather quickly. It is a very stressful time and we just didn't feel like continuing to deal with an easily solved issue. I called PC Richards, since it's been around forever and Ive shopped successfully before. I fist spoke to Alex, who was great and suggested I look on their website to see what I may prefer, and to call back with some choices. When I picked a couple and called again, Mr B answered the phone, and we spoke extensively about each machine's pros/cons. Mr B was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He told me he has been with the store for a very long time, starting as a stock boy. He is now a manager and a pure pleasure. I said to him "I can give you a whole sob story, but I wont. But please know, we need this before Sunday". He never batted an eye. This was on.a Tuesday, with the July 4th weekend approaching (yes, I am THAT person!). Essentially, it had to be delivered that Friday due to the approaching holiday. Mr B said he could "call a friend" (I got a guy) that could possibly make delivery happen, but he would make no promises. Ok! I put a deposit on a JennAir at an awesome price. The next day I received a text saying that my appliance was ready for delivery and to call to schedule. Yippeee! I called the store back (Thursday) and spoke to Mike, who told me I was scheduled for the following Tuesday. Uh oh !! We REALLY needed/wanted/would make life easier with a Fri delivery (really , Im not being difficult, there are reasons, just not going to get into it here). He said he would make a call. Next thing I know, Mr B calls (who was not supposed to be at work on that day) from the store to discuss delivery. When I expressed my surprise hearing from him on his day off, he said he just wanted to take care of the issue. He then told me that he could not get me delivery until Tuesday. Obviously, I was disappointed but he had told me it was a longshot with such short notice. Ok, we will make it work. Mr B truly had no idea of our issues and his efforts were not unnoticed. Next thing I know, he called me back 10 minutes later telling me Fri delivery was set! Wowza! I wanted to jump through the phone and hug him! I am quite sure he does not know our "sob story" as I never got into it, but he succeeded in making my day better (as I was sitting in my therapist's office, lol.) So thank you Alex, Mike, and especially Mr B - y'all removed one stupid PIA issue during a time that our household is preparing for the sad inevitable. We appreciate you guys so much! read more

DON'T BUY APPLIANCES FROM PC RICHARD!!! They send me an air conditioner that is all scratched up, it looks used. They're giving me the run around, the store it came from says they can't help me, they won't respond to customer service emails, I called headquarters and they said they would call me back to set up a pick up, they never called. The policy on their website says they're supposed to pick up any local or freight delivery if it's reported within 2 days, which I did report it. I learned they send people defective merchandise and then give you the runaround so you'll end up having to deal with the manufacturer directly. read more

I first ordered a washer/dryer laundry center from Lowe's and had a terrible experience with their customer service, so I canceled my order. Then I decided to try PC Richard & Son, and I'm so glad I did. When I called the Bay Ridge location, Mr. B answered the phone. I explained what had happened, and he couldn't have been nicer. He told me he could order me the same unit at the same price, and installation would be no problem. They even offered the same 0% financing option. The whole process was easy. I ordered the unit over the phone in about 15 minutes. PC Richard & Son sent two teams: one to make sure the washer/dryer would fit down my stairs and into the closet, and another for installation. Albert, a Licensed Master Plumber, and his colleague Christian installed my gas dryer quickly and correctly. They were professional and friendly and did a great job. Couple days after installation, Mr. B called to tell me the unit I bought had just gone on sale and that he was refunding my credit card $54.44. I have never had a store call me on their own to give me a refund after a sale. That really impressed me. Mr. B, you are the best. You've earned a customer for life. I recently purchased a mattress and adjustable base from this location for over $2,200. The in-store sales process was smooth and the staff were helpful at the time. Unfortunately the delivery experience was frustrating. I was told during the sale that setup would be completed at delivery, but when the first delivery team arrived they said they did not have authorization to install it. This required scheduling a second visit and taking additional time off work. When I called the store to resolve the issue, the manager (Ralph) was dismissive and argumentative rather than focused on resolving the problem or maintaining the customer relationship. The haul-away fee was eventually refunded, but the interaction felt more like an attempt to end the conversation than to actually make things right. I also emailed the corporate customer service address listed online (customerservice@pcrichard.com) and never received a response. The mattress itself is great, but after spending over $2,200 I expected a much more customer-focused experience. I went to this store, intending to buy kitchen appliances and maybe a mattress. I saw the salesman and on the way to look at appliances, I passed the mattresses so I sat on one to try it. The manager Patricia immediately ran there and was relentless in trying to sell me the mattress and an appliance so I could save $300. I told her that this was the first mattress I looked at, but she insisted on trying to sell it to me. I didn't even look at any others in the store. I then asked the sales person to see counter depth washer and dryers which he showed me and I liked. I then asked for the same thing in a refrigerator. He took me to see two on the floor, so I asked is that all you have? His answer to me was how many do you need? I decided to walk out and I spoke to the manager Patricia and told her how uncomfortable I was with her, trying to upsell me and also what the salesman said. I'll make it short and sweet: if you don't want to get completely screwed with getting an appliance delivered, go elsewhere. This was the worst customer experience I've had in my life. TLDR: I've been shopping at P.C. Richard and Son since I was a kid. I recently bought a $2k LG washer and dryer tower at this location. They scheduled the delivery promptly with a 'white glove service' delivery crew. On the date of the delivery, the delivery window of 7:46-10:45 came and went. They called at 4pm saying the unit was damaged and I could still get it delivered if I wanted. I'm good on that. They rescheduled the delivery in 2 days and gave me $100 discount for the inconvenience. Awesome. The 2nd delivery date came and I got a call at 8 am from the delivery driver saying they would be there at 9am. Everything was working out. No show. I called P.C. Richard and Son at noon and they apologized and said the owner of the delivery company would personally come to the house in 30 min. At 1pm they finally arrived. The guy apologized. The unit ended up being so big that it had to be taken apart in order to fit into the house. Luckily, my GC was at the house and said he would do it. The YouTube video for the unit showed the process (I guess it's a thing with this appliance) which was literally 2 minutes long and involved 5 screws. The owner of the delivery company said that although they were 4 hours late, he was busy and would not wait the 5 minutes while the unit was disassembled. He then loaded the unit back on the truck and parked up the block from my house and sat there for 45 minutes, while I was on the phone with P.C. Richard & Son, getting a refund for the appliance. They processed the return and I had BestBuy deliver it the next day, no issues. Problem solved, but there was a lesson learned; never buy anything from P.C. Richard & Son. P.S. Martin the manager at the store is a nice guy and apologized that this happened, although he couldn't do anything about it. read more

Robert didn't only entertain questions but he asked questions to be certain that we bought the exact stove we needed. I didn't get their names, sadly, but the four delivery men who came today and carted out our 1950s stove. Walked in with my sister to look for a fridge. The showroom was empty of any customers but it was fully staffed with salespeople. However, none of them even bothered to ask us if we needed any help. When another pair of customers came in looking at the fridges a sales rep immediately came and asked them if they needed any help. They were white, we are brown and my sister wears hijab. I was absolutely livid at the sales staff. I was in desperate need of a new fridge and they could have had me as a customer if they just put their prejudices aside. It is the holidays and a lot of the products were on sale or have been discounted from their normal prices. It is not bad store to purchase stuff at, but customer service maybe a little tough to get because either they walk pass you, pretending you are not there or they are really busy. It took a while for someone to help me out. I came here to spoil myself by purchasing an iPad Mini for my birthday. It was for only $299 because it was the holidays. Not only that I had a $25 gift certificate and P.C. Richards gave me a $50 mail in rebate as well. I also purchased a iPad mini case and the total with the tax and discount was $338 and change. Being a woman purchasing an AC, this has been a very frustrating experience with this store. I walked in during the Memorial Day sale, after doing my research online and knowing what I needed - which was a higher BTU AC for my studio which was fairly quiet. The sales rep - Ahmed (?) upsold me a unit which he said was quite (it's not, I can't sleep with it on because of the noise it makes) and he also got very upset when I refused to purchase a 10 year warranty from the store that would have doubled my price. I arranged a weekend delivery because they do not work with you at all at delivery and install times.. and since I was not going to take off from work for this we had to wait through the very hot week of the end of May to finally get the unit installed. Within that time I had to field SEVERAL phone calls from this store confirming completely wrong delivery and install dates. When the unit was finally delivered, the installation people spent about 30 minutes installing the WRONG AC in my window. I didn't think to check the unit, because they should have only brought the one I paid for. They were about to leave when I looked at the box and noticed they installed the wrong one - the techs double checked the invoice and proceeded to remove it and install the right one. They didn't install it properly, leaving a huge gap at the bottom which I just ended up duct taping instead of dealing with them again. Now about two weeks ago - the unit started leaking on the inside of my apartment. I called PC Richard's and they promptly scheduled an appointment to send someone out to either fix the unit or reinstall it. I was told the company they're sending is Father and Son's (DO NOT LET THEM SEND THESE PEOPLE TO YOUR HOUSE) - after waiting a week for this appointment, these people showed up a half hour before the quoted time (hoping we were not home) with no tools or anything else, and barely looked at the unit before leaving and saying there is nothing wrong with it - but it was still clearly leaking on the inside. Back to calling PC Richard's again - I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with Sarah (?) who assured me that she will book me a Sunday appointment with technicians from PC Richards in Long Island and that she took my complaint about the previous techs, etc. So imagine my surprise when I got a from PC Richards on Tuesday to confirm my appointment for Wednesday. After talking with Nicole, she fixed my appointment date and had nothing to say as to why it was booked on the wrong day and why the person I spoke with previously entered no notes on our conversation. Now come Sunday - I call the store to get a time quoted. I spoke with a man who told me they would be at my house between 2 - 4 PM, cool. We continue to wait - wasting yet another day in the house to get this fixed. When I called the store back after 4 PM - Sarah tell's me that she doesn't know who I spoke with because the techs are going to be there between 4 and 7 PM. Now I'm livid because this is a waste of my entire Sunday waiting for these people. When the techs finally get there - the reinstall the AC (hopefully right this time) and they also have a conversation about because it's a Sunday and they did all this work and they don't want to call it in because it's so much paperwork - basically wanting to get paid something. We pointed out on the invoice that this is what they were sent to do and we were not responsible to pay anything. All in all - this place is ridiculous and so disorganized. Keep track of your receipts and more importantly who you talk to and when and what is said - because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I bought a laptop from this place over 2 years ago, and it's still rockin'. However, a number of programs installed were trial versions, so I'd recommend following up with them to ensure you know exactly what you're getting. It's a fairly large store, so if you're looking for any number of electronics, I think it's a solid option for the area. I think for the 86th street area, it's the largest electronics store around. Buyer be prepared! Honesty, Integrity and Reliability is the current slogan -pure fiction. It used to be "We treat you like family"but that was a generation ago. These folks have no idea what customer services requires. This review is a summary of PC Richard's customer repair service. The system is absolutely horrible. No info provided re process and method. You are just supposed to roll with it. Purchased a 6k kitchen appliance system in October 2018 and called for a service rep to look at how the DW was working a few months later. Took a window of 12-5 pm, rep showed up at 6:05, no phone calls advising me of the schedule status. No apology for being late, rep just told me that PC Richard's cannot get their scheduling issues in order. This is a management problem! Called again this week for a repair on refrigerator ice maker, took the same 12-5 window on Thurs, rep showed up at 4:43 pm and stayed exactly 47 seconds and informed me a new part was needed for the ice maker. Rep offered no hello or goodbye and reeked of cigarette smoke. No information re how the repair process followed through-nothing. I had to query him for the info! I was told that the store would call when the repair part was available. I had previously called customer service center at 4:05 pm for update on appointment having received none and was told they would honor the 12-5 commitment. Commitment to what? How is the rep supposed to repair a ref unit in 20 minutes? Whats the procedure guys? Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they would not be able to help me. I insisted and was put on hold for 10 minutes. No one picked up, so I hung up. Twenty minutes later received a message that a supervisor had been contacted but that I had hung up. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give PC Richard's repair service one star because there are no minus stars available! I strongly suggest the PC Richard's repair service consult GEICO or Raymour & Flanigan as model examples of how to treat their customers to garner confidence and brand loyalty. Later that evening about 8pm did receive a call from a supervisor to tell me the replacement part was available and we've scheduled a 7-12 am Monday appointment. He mentioned they have over 100 repair techs on board and my response was they need to retrain all of them as well as revamping the entire methodology of their repair service, from top to bottom because currently it is not informative, is unreliable and unprofessional. These folks use reactionary energy instead of a proactive approach and we their customers are literally paying for it. Accountability needs to be reviewed up and down the line with how they provide so called customer service. Very efficient store. Wide selection. Brightly lit. Air-conditioned. Clean. Vigorous. I was very lucky to get the best salesman they have on staff, for my purchase. Very patient individual, informative, going-the-distance-to-make-the-sale. Haven't dealt with any of the other staff as yet but the whole place is simply very energetic about selling appliances. They are on top of every detail, seemingly. Prices good; customer service good. Highly organized. I would give four stars based on all this--but will hold off until they recognize the one minor --but I feel, important--detail which they've overlooked so far. There's nowhere to sit. This store is found on a very unpleasant corner street location next to the Ft Ham Parkway (constant noise, hustle-bustle, horns, and chaos). Many times, customers are forced to stand outside waiting for their car, their appliance, or their taxi. Its a huge empty sidewalk, blasted by wind and sun. How about some potted shrubs, for shade and windbreak? How about some lawn furniture, some plastic benches for people to rest their heels on during a hectic shopping trip? It sso easy to do.
