This office is great. I was inundated with solicitations from many DUI lawyers, but it was these Yelp reviews that put confidence in David when his mailing came in. The initial packet advised how to handle it on my own if I didn't wish to team up. The rate was very reasonable and David was patient in answering multiple questions and putting me at ease. Another partner/team member there Luis helped with anything else that came up. They handled both the court case and DMV hearing so I would not have to. The results were great, (dimissed woo-hoo). Thought: "u get what u pay for." Wrong. I had quotes of up to $5000, so I was suspicious of David's low rate. David Wool saved my career and made a stressful event easier to deal with. I blew a 0.14 which is nearly double the legal limit. However Wool was able to get my first DUI offense lowered to a wet and reckless. This helped save my career, especially with the arrest taken place in alameda county. Because of the lowered charge to a wet and reckless I am not required to install the ignition interlock in vehicles I own and operate; including company vehicles. In addition Wool charges a fair price. It is a flat rate as well. Wool went to bat for me and took my case to trial, which ended up taking three hearings. Even after the additional hearings he had to attend, the price never changed! My experience with Wool has been great. He is a straight up type of guy. He tells it like it is and lays out all possible outcomes, while clearly expressing what the most likely outcome will be. He doesn't give false promises. For my DMV hearing, Wool said that I would most likely get a four month suspension to my CDL. He was correct. However Wool did work with the DMV which allowed me to have a temporary license two months longer than would be expected if I didnt have him represent me. For the county courts, I was blown away. The experience was stress free. I never had to step foot in a courthouse through the trial hearings. I was always kept informed and up to date as to what was happening or what was needed from me. Whenever I had any questions, he or one of his knowledgable staff members would call or email me no later than one business day to answer them. I am still in awe with the experience I had with wool and the outcome of the hearings, considering the fact that i nearly blew double the legal limit and the charged got bumped down to a wet and reckless. BACKGROUND: My 22 year old son was convicted of DUI in Marin County--the most difficult county in all the Bay Area for a DUI reduction. We interviewed a couple of DUI defense lawyers who said that the best deal they could get in Marin County would be to help through the administrative process for both the DMV and the court hearing. Feeling discouraged, we continued to receive letters of solicitations in the mail for DUI defenders, in which one was from the office of P David Wool. The letter stated that Mr. Wool has extensive experience and district attorney connections. Additionally, along with the letter was other useful formation that we could use to defend ourselves if we could not afford a lawyer, i.e., DMV hearing request. Curious, I called him and inquired about his services and fees. He listened carefully and advised me of his defense strategy, all for a low cost of $1250 (Marin County DUI lawyers charge in excess of $4K). We agreed to retain him, signed the contact and made payment. Thereafter, we received thorough instructions on how to proceed with identification, car insurance, etc.. In addition, to having a knowledgeable and skilled office staff (Kelly for DUI assistance and Luis for DMV assistance) Mr. Wool was attentive to our concerns and kept us informed throughout the whole process. OUTCOME: Marin County DA reduced charged to wet and reckless with 3 years of probation, AND complete expunge of record after probation is complete. This means that my son will not have to admit to a misdemeanor on any future job application after probation is completed without incident. Needless to say, we are in a state of AWE that Mr. Wool was able to get us this deal!!! Thank you David, Kelly, Luis and Almighty God for saving my son's future from a common lapse in judgment. Dear reader, After a serious misdemeanor I didn't know where to turn for help. I spoke with several attorneys and chose Attorney P. David Wool for his knowledge of the system and the DA's side of things in San Mateo/Redwood City, his commitment to seeing my case through from start to finish, regardless of how many appearances were needed, his track record of success, and his fees which were by far the most reasonable. Attorney Wool has a first rate staff as well. I worked closely with his paralegal Kelly and she was very effective at managing the details of my case and communicating with me. Mr. Wool knew of a new program that would keep my record clean and result in the D.A. dismissing the charges. I was just a bit outside the parameters for qualifying for the program but attorney Wool knew which D.A. would be sympathetic and divert my case to the new program anyway. Another lawyer might not know of the program, or might not have pursued it because I was just outside the parameters for acceptance into the program. I am leaving a bad review because I received a DUI back in January and I had contacted DUI attorneys just like everyone else their first DUI. So I decided I would talk more with wools office. I never paid them I told them I would see if I could get a loan from my bank. Without my knowledge they went ahead and scheduled a DMV hearing without any payment. They used their office number as contact and since I never made any type of agreement they decided not to do it and I missed my hearing which means I forfeit my license. All I received was a message the morning of saying I would receive a call from DMV and never did becaus they provided their number instead of my own!! I rarely bother to write a review about anything, but this attorney is worth knowing about. It's nerve wrecking to deal with a DUI case. The fear of court, of consequences, of the unknown. Plus, I had such a high blood alcohol (never again!!) and was just scared to death. Right away I could tell Mr. Wool knew exactly what he was doing--he explained the system, what was possible, what was likely, what we should do and how we should do it. Since he used to be a D.A. prosecuting DUI's, he should know. Just breathing in his confidence took so much stress off! From my 5 Star rating, you know we got a great result (YAY!). He was able to get my high blood test case reduced so now I don't have it on my record. Attorney Wool IS as good as it gets! I'm a person big on following intuition. I am 51 years old and having never been in trouble like this before I was super scared and completely overwhelmed considering I am also in the middle of a divorce. P. David Wool is highly experienced and knowledgeable. I had an issue when I was visiting California. It could have easily and cheaply been taken care of with a fine and probation as I live 3000 miles away. Atty Wool went above and beyond anything I could have asked for. My son was involved in a fight. The other party was injured, and my son was charged with a serious felony; Assault with a Deadly Weapon causing Great Bodily Injury. That's 2-4 years, or more, in Prison. A felony strike. The first DA was out for blood and wanted a very high bail. Mr Wool succeeded in getting a bail amount that we could handle, over the snarling objections of the DA. That was just the beginning. At every step, Mr Wool had a plan. He knew when to ask for a continuance (thus possibly changing the DA and judge) and when to "go with what we have." He contacted various agencies to find out where 'home detention' was allowed, and where it was not. Mr Wool patiently counseled us through the entire process - helping us obtain letters from the injured party, and others, that ultimately swayed the sentencing judge to give my son a second chance. Probation, with the Felony reduced in severity if Probation is successful. This was the best imaginable result. Finally, hIs fees were very reasonable. I came into this experience with a strong anti-lawyer bias, but must now admit, there's at least one darn good lawyer /decent human being who earns every cent he charges. David Wool. Don't hire David Wool if it's your second DUI and you're serious about fighting the charges. If you really want to fight it find someone else. If you make too much money to qualify for a PD and you just need a lawyer because its required but you dont want to spend alot of $$$ then you might want to condsider this guy. Cost me $1450 which was broken up into 2 payments. It seems David Wool gets better results if its a standard 1st time DUI. I reffered my cousin to him for his first offense while I was dealing with my 2nd and he was able to reduce his charges to Wet and Reckless. The whole process was pretty informal. I only communicated with his office via email and mail after the initial phone call. You only get to talk to him the day before your pre-trial hearing and the day of to let you know what the judge wants to do. I do have to admit that i thought my fine would be a lot more seeing how it was my 2nd DUI but it turned out to be $1750 which is about the same as the 1st one i got. I pretty much got the standard 2nd time punishments minus the interlock device. I lost the DMV hearing which he represented me in. 2 yr suspension, eligible for a restricted after one year. He managed to get the DUI charge dropped and the DA to opt for the driving over 0.08% charge which i guess helped. The judge wanted to give me 20 days of SWAP or 30 days in jail. David talked him down to 20 days in jail of which he advised me i would only end up serving 8 which turned out to be true. I chose jail because i wanted to get this part of the penalties over with asap and SWAP would of made me do the entire 20 days (weekends) plus i would've had to pay an enrollment fee and $35 for each day of service. That would've cost me an additional $700-$800 plus alot of my free time since i work during the week. On top of this I also have to complete the 18 month program and complete 5 yrs probation which can be turned into 3yrs if I stay out of trouble for those first 3yrs. So all in all it was an ok experience i guess, but my advice is if its your second time and you really want to put up a fight dont go with Wool. Im mean, hes cheap for reason. If its your 1st DUI and/or you want cheap representation with ok results, go for it. Like the first review states, this guy pretty much just tries to work deals for you. read more
