Recommended by a local barista who works at Dalston around the corner. I asked him where I could get good bread from and he assured me there is only one good place in the area: Pa De Kilo.
This place is an out of bounds, unbelievably good bakery. Old school making everything by hand with time, patience, and love the way good bread is supposed to be baked. I visited on a Monday when they were closed but were prepping for the next day. One of their bakers Oswaldo let me tour the back to checkout their preparations. I was in a bakers wonderland surrounded by proofing doughs, preferments, grains and flour sacks stacked as high as me. The sweet smell of fermentation filled the air. What a wonderful experience thank you Ozzie!
The following day I returned to actually try the bread. It was every bit as good as you can imagine. If you are ever in the area and want really good bread to pair with your Jamon, cheese, olives etc, go out of your way (about to 10 mins west walk of La Ramblas) to treat yourself to an unforgettable experience. read more
