While we were wandering down the street eating our cone of meat (yes that's a thing), I noticed this shop across the street. I'm not going to lie: The bright colors and cookies seen from the doorway are what drew me in. I'm glad we went as well. We were just browsing the store and a very nice and friendly salesperson asked us if we wanted a sample of the cookie. They were handing out their butter cookies filled with an apricot center. Why not? I'll tell you why not, because those cookies are flipping delicious. The cookie melts in your mouth and the apricot center is pretty much the best thing I've ever had. I wanted some, and I wanted some now!
The biscuits in the tin seemed like they were going to be way too many for two people, so we decided to just get a few cookies and put them in a bag for later. I opted for the anise (because ANISE!), fig, apricot (of course) and raspberry. The other half got the same except for he got the orange instead of the fig. I then decided to look around and figure out something to bring back for my co-workers, and I was drawn to the "olives au chocolat". I mean they looked like olives, but they were clearly just chocolate covered almonds. And my suspicions were then confirmed when they gave us one to try. Delicious. And purchased.
At the register they also gave us a sample of their marzipan candy. I'm not a fan of marzipan, so we didn't get any, but we sure did try it. We left pleased with our purchases, and much later that night drunkenly devoured our cookies. Then I realized that we're visiting my family in a couple of weeks, so we should get biscuits to bring back for them! So the next day we went back and got a tin of apricot biscuits to take as a gift. And we took advantage of the free samples they hand out and tried the chocolate and hazelnut cookie and the chocolate chip cookies. They are some seriously good cookies.
Go in and wander around and try some free samples. If you don't like, you can go, but the free samples are so good you're probably going to buy something like we did. They definitely have their sales pitch down, but the cookies and candies do speak for themselves. read more
