This was my first time at North Market, but I will definitely be back again. The choices were overwhelming, and everything looked and smelled great. For this meal I settled on Pablo's Havana Cafe for Cuban food. I like to try a little bit of everything, so I was excited to see the Bocadito Sampler that included Picadillo, Ropa Vieja, Pork, and Chicken. They were all delicious, though if I had to choose just one I think the chicken was my favorite. I also tried the yucca frita, though they warned me when I ordered it that they didn't have their normal yucca so it was more like french fries. The market was very crowded, but we managed to find an empty table at the far end. It was loud, which is to be expected around any good bar during Friday Happy Hour. Great food and environment ! This location used to be in Dublin but moved to the Little Grand Market in Grandview. The markers bathrooms were nice and clean, although I was there earlier in the day. The staff were pleasant and speedy with their service. Got a Cuban BBQ Pulled pork sandwich and shared some croquettes with a friend. Headed out for some warm weather food at the North Market and happily settled on Pablo's. Sadly, we left more than a little disappointed in our food choice. The two of us had our hearts set on Cuban sandwiches. Unfortunately, they will go down as the least inspiring Cubans we've ever enjoyed (not). Our order was really just pressed yet still soggy, plain pulled pork sandwiches with a hint of mustard, a hint of Swiss and not a pickle to crunch. Ugh. Perhaps we'll give it another try down the road but that'll have to be a while. There's too many good options in the North Market to settle for something so pedestrian. Pablo's is located inside North Market at Bridge Park. If you haven't visited Bridge Park or North Market, you need to check it out. I went with the traditional 'El Cubano,' not to be confused with another option, 'La Cubana.' El Cubano has pork, whereas La Cubana has chicken. Both also have ham, swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. For sides, they offer maduros, tostones, fries, or yuca. After getting a run down of the differences, I opted to try the yuca. The food was ready in 5-10 minutes. The sandwich was huge, definitely enough to split with someone else. The cuban sandwich was pretty good, but I wish it had honey mustard instead of regular mustard -- not sure if that's sacrilegious for a cuban sandwich, but a little bit of added sweetness would've been nice. The yucas were interesting -- think large fried chunks of potato. It came with an oil dipping sauce that didn't have much flavor, so I opted for ketchup instead. Again, not sure if that's sacrilegious to put on yuca, but it made it more palatable. Overall, glad I tried Pablos and the cuban sandwich was pretty decent. read more

The Cuban experience. It was enjoyable but a bit of a disappointment. I was forewarned this cuisine is blushing with spices and carries a punch. Not today. Fairly bland and average tasting. I tried my friend Dom's meal and it was much more of the same. For us then, the Tampa Cuban and the El Cubanito are out. The few bites I had of Medianoche were very tasty. Served on a sweeter brioche bun. I would definitely recommend the Tostones Rellenos Sampler. Four different tostones to help you determine what you like most. The service was fair and expedient. My husband was in the mood for a cuban sandwich, so I got on Yelp to look up recommendations. Pablo's popped up, and do we decided to have a date night at The Moryh Market. We found the restaurant inside and the guy who waited on us was very nice. My husband ordered the original cubano sandwich with fries, and I ordered the Tampa cubano with tostones. We also ordered pineapple sodas. The food was good. I did think that my first bite of the tostones was salty, but I dipped the rest in an oily mixture that came with it, and it after that, it tasted pretty good. My husband also noticed that they sold cigars (we are cigar afficandos). Definitely will probably make another trip back. read more

I ordered the Cuban Bowl with seasoned beef which was great. Also, there was a lot of it. The sweet fried plantains were not cut in half as they usually are and they were the best plantains I've ever eaten - nice and soft in the middle. Service was friendly and quick. We had previously visited the Powell location (which is the one my original review is for, as it looks like Yelp may have transferred them over with the location change), so it was nice to check out their newer place in the North Market at Bridge Park in Dublin. They have a very nice storefront in the market, very eye catching, and you can see into the kitchen as the whip together lots of tasty looking sandwiches and prepare Cuban coffee. As one expects from the North Market, there is a large cafeteria style seating area in the middle, and Pablo's provides small buzzers to take with you to your seat to get your attention when the food is ready. This time, we opted to go with the Cuban Pulled Pork sandwich and fries. The meat was tender and juicy, and it comes topped with BBQ sauce and pickles. The fries came out golden and crispy. The market as a whole was hopping when we stopped by, and Pablo's was no exception. Despite the crowd, they were friendly and efficient, making sure everyone had whatever extra items they may need - napkins, silverware, ketchup packets, and the like. We'll stop by again! The only thing I'd order again was the can of Diet Coke. Completely underwhelmed and disappointed. Lunch with my wife on a Friday afternoon at North Market Dublin, Bridge Park. We've seen so many great reviews on Yelp about Pablos's Cuban that we chose them over numerous other great options. Yea, mistake, it was only ok and nothing was standout. Nothing. Not even close. Cubano Sandwich - ok, not great, not enough mustard. The pork is - I'd bet money on this - probably from the white plastic tub of shredded pork from Gordon Food Service. I'm serious. The flavor was lacking and the shred was way too fine for house cooked. I grew up 45 minutes from Little Havana in Miami, and have eaten a LOT of Cuban sandwiches. This disappointed. Croquetas - decent. Fine. OK. Probably bought premade and frozen at Sam's Club or Costco. At least they were fried very well with a nice hard crispy out shell. But they were served with a side of mediocre bottled Ranch Dressing for dipping sauce. WTF? Are you kidding me...? Ranch dressing for croquetas? That's a party foul if I've ever seen one. In Havana they'd run you off the island for that. Sopa de pollo - it was ok. Served WAY TOO HOT - so hot it scalded the roof of my mouth even after letting it sit with the lid off for 10 minutes. Black beans & white rice - the rice was dry, like it had been sitting in a warming pan for too long. That's just lazy to not make a fresh batch for 50 cents. The beans needed significantly more seasoning for flavor, and were also kinda dry. And a can of Diet Coke. It was awesome... So they were 1 for 5. We would not order ANY of the food again. There are great options at North Market Dublin, and this meal at Pablo's was mediocre and lame for Cuban food. My mother always said you can say something nice about anything, so here goes, Mom.... the bread on the Cubano was excellent. Correct. My husband was really excited to bring me here after a friend of his recommended we try it. I love Cuban food and I was very excited to try it as well. When we walked in we were the only ones there which might have factored into our negative experience but the girl taking our order wasn't helpful at all. I got a full Cuban sandwich, my husband got a half and I bought a can of soda which was three dollars and fifty cents. Our food (without the drink) came to eighteen dollars. I am a half Cuban, born and raised in Miami-Dade County, Florida. I know Cuban food, this is authentic and well done Cuban food. My family and I were visiting the Columbus area. I loved how it was decorated with the mural and of course the small tiny Cuban flags! We started with an appetizer, which were some croquetas de jamon. Croquetas de jamon are essentially fried bite sized logs of ground ham. They are some of my favorite things to eat. Anyone who hasn't tried one, should! We also ordered some cafe con leche as our drink order. Anyone not familiar, this is Cuban coffee with milk. Its fantastic! We ordered some eggs, chorizo, and hash browns with a side of bacon. We also all had some Cuban toast! Oh how i love and miss Cuban bread! Cuban bread is the best bread, it is truly heavenly! Closest equivalent would be Italian... Its both Crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside... its perfection... and Cuban toast just takes that and makes it even better! The restaurant also sells Cuban bread to go as well as Cuban soft drinks like Iron Beer, Jupina, and Materva. We took some Cuban bread, Jupina, and Materva to go back to Van Wert. The service throughout our time her was excellent! The whole experience was excellent! Anyone in Columbus who wants to try Cuban food should come here... and if your a fellow Cuban... come here for some authentic Cuban food! read more

This is an adorable small restaurant in a strip mall in Powell serving authentic homemade Cuban cuisine. There are pictures of Havana on the walls and cigar boxes on display. And while we were only stopping in for pickup, the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. We ordered a veggie Cuban sandwich with fries, and an order of Yukon fries which were absolutely amazing. They come with a side of garlic dipping sauce that takes them to another level. The beef empanadas were also delicious as well. We tried both types of plantains which are similar to fried bananas. They have the tostones, which are twice fried, flat, and taste a bit starchy. I wasn't a huge fan of them but my husband loved them. The Maduros are fried and caramelized, and were more my cup of tea. We also had a piece of the tres leche cake which was also pretty good. I stopped by for lunch today, and ordered the Lechón Platter. The portions of pork and rice were big, but everything was just kind of bland. The pork was soggy and flavorless, the beans were watery, and the rice was...well rice. I was super excited to hear Pablo's was occupying Budd Dairy Food Hall's Hatch incubator stall - this location being much closer than their brick and mortar restaurant in Powell, OH. They've got a pretty extensive menu for a rotating food stall. I tried the Pan con Lechón, basically a Cubanized pork Philly sandwich, with grilled onions, peppers and a white cheese (forgot to ask what kind). The slow roasted pork was good and tender, but I thought the green peppers gave the sandwich and odd flavor that I wasn't expecting, something of a sweet but tangy punch from the peppers. While it was not my personal fav, I'm sure it's a "to each their own" kind of statement. The soft toasted Cuban bread was good (I like my breads soft and palatable). Big s/o to the workers at Pablo's Hatch space, as they gladly remade my side of maduros - sweet plantains (tostones are the crunchy, salty version of plantains), as they were badly burnt and hard to chew. The second rendition were fantastic! Sweet - like, banana flavor sweet, not just blah sugar rush sweet. Perfectly cooked - soft, yet not mushy. I'm such a sucker for QUALITY sweet plantains, and I'll gladly order these again. ***I did get a bite of Pablo's traditional El Cubano, and that sandwich was spot on! Excellent flavors; savory, nothing sweet like I got from the green peppers and onions; that was a well executed sandwich, and I'm bummed I didn't listen to myself the first time and got the Cubano like was planned. I've been wanting to go to this place for a while and we finally got a chance to go there. I was excited at the prospect of eating authentic Cuban food because it's been a while. I loved the Cuban restaurants in Miami and was hoping this restaurant would be just as good. OMG. Everything was so incredibly greasy! And the oil didn't smell good. So gross!! We got the Havana Sampler and Cuban Tamales to start. He liked the tamales, but I didn't. We didn't like anything on the Sampler because it was so greasy. I can't remember which Cuban sandwich I ordered, but it was so greasy I couldn't eat it. He ordered some kind of slider and he ate half of it. I wanted to love this place because I love Cuban food. While I wanted to love Pablo's, our meals ranked pretty average. The service was friendly and helpful, though. Sandwiches were a little on the soggy bread side of things and the flavors weren't anything to write home about. The one bright star were the papas rellenas -- I could eat 50 of those delish fries mashed potato balls! They were out of the churros I had hoped for so I subbed a dice of tres leches cake. The flavors were nice but it was so soggy and I didn't love the coconut texture. I would probably come back for papas rellenas and perhaps give the plantains maduros a try, but only if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Walking in it reminds me of the Cuban cafes I have visited in Florida. Simple tables but a menu that is exciting for the area. Multiple appetizers and sandwiches. Today was simple carryout - El Cubano (roasted pork, pickles, swiss cheese and ham, with mayo (I substituted instead of usual mustard)). It was delicious! The traditional size was perfect as I enjoyed sides of fries and a cup of black beans just to try them. Both were very good. Staff was friendly and welcoming and Pablo's already had a steady flow of traffic even at 2pm midweek. Convenient and fast service too. Looking forward to returning with the family. A quick update. Tried it for dinner and it was very chaotic. Out of food. A 15 minute togo took 50 mins. And togo was wrong, missing food and they were out of several key menu items. As a Native Floridian, my husband is always searching for the best Tampa-style Cuban Sandwich. He was so excited to find Pablos. Everything we tried was fantastic. From the black beans to the Tres Leches cake, there wasn't a dish we didn't like. The yuca fries are fluffy and starchy. Don't let the small portion size fool you- they are filling. The same can be said for the plantanos. Those crispy fried plantains in the garlicky dipping sauce are always the perfect side dish. (Dipping them in the black beans is even better.) But let's face it- the stars of the restaurant is their sandwiches. The grilled and melty cubanos are just the perfect bite of chewy bread, sweet and salty ham, vinegary mustard, and salty pickle. Although I was born in Ohio, I spent most of my adult life ninety miles north of Havana, Cuba, in Cayo Hueso......what most know as Key West, the birthplace of the Cuban Mix. I'm guessing that I'm going to be a regular there! The menu included almost all of my favorites. Today, I had a Cuban Mix sandwich and cafe con leche, something that was a staple of my existence previously. Both items were spot on! I chatted with the staff.....effusively. The truth be known, I was probably a bit of a pest. That aside, the staff were warm and accommodating. I was made to feel very much at home.
