We were seated right away, on the patio. Constant traffic noise, but there was a grassy area and some trees between the patio and the road so it wasn't awful. They brought us chips and salsa right away, and when we ordered guacamole that came out quickly. I really like their salsa - tastes like cumin, "spicy" but not hot. The chips and guacamole are fine, nothing special there. I ordered the pasta and shrimp, my husband went with the Ropa vieja. Both were fine... the shrimp were large and the pasta was loaded with veggies and came with a huge hunk of bread to soak up the sauce when my pasta was gone. read more

My friend and I were in Hilliard on an errand. When we finished we were discussing where to have lunch. the owner of the store we were in suggested Louies-he eats there a lot. Since it was on our short list and was just across the street we went there! Great choice. we were seated immediately. They have a variety of seating choices. Water, chips and salsa arrived. The salsa was disappointing. The flavor was ok but it was so watery it wouldn't stay on the chips. Our appetizer was the small plate of plantains, more than enough for 2 to share. I ordered the Mexican roast chicken.The skin had wonderful seasoning and was crisp. The meat was moist and tender. I ate every bit of it- I think I was moaning in delight at the taste. My friend had the roast pork with salsa verde. She said it was delish and took half home. The portions are huge.Since we were celebrating my birthday the waitress brought out Mexican cannolis topped with whipped cream with a fruit drizzle- Sooo good. The menu is is extensive, breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a large place with many TV screens. It was clean,even the restrooms. Lots of parking in the back. I went here with a group of friends and we tried many different things and we loved it all! I had the Cuban Sandwich with Plantains, I also tried the Chroizo and Queso, I tried the Chorizo Fries, we all got margaritas. My friends tried the brisket chimichanga, the beef tacos, the breakfast quesadilla, and the Vieja Ropas. We all loved our food. The servers were excellent and very nice! The atmosphere of the place was very nice. The Restaraunt was clean and very busy which is always a good sign. The food came out at a good pace. This place gets the job done, if you're looking for a decent breakfast or lunch. I've only been in for breakfast - once I got the breakfast enchiladas. Decent, could have been more flavorful. I will say this is a pretty good place to take kids, they have a great kids menu and even toys for the kids to play with. I've been in on Sunday morning and it's not super busy so you also don't have to worry about the wait. Servers are kind of young but friendly. But friends came through town at dinner time Saturday; among us we had the Cuban roast chicken, a pork burrito, the Cajun shrimp alfredo and ropa vieja. All four of us were happy. Our friends enjoyed the flan, and we liked our berry Moscato tiramisu (little resemblance to traditional tiramisu). The service was as good as usual. I've gone to Louie's for many years. It's been convenient, (only) adequate, but value priced. The people are nice and it feels like a family operation. My understanding is that the business was purchased by another family member fairly recently and they have really STEPPED IT UP! It is well above adequate now. The chicken Mafungo, for example, is great. I still love their Creole pasta (a favorite for years). Breakfasts are great; a favorite after-church stop for us. The "new" Louie's is clearly putting in great effort. Reward them; visit them. read more

This Latin fusion grill is hidden right off Cemetery Road, across from the moo moo car wash. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar. We came in about 6:00pm on a Saturday. We were greeted and seated immediately. Francesca provided great service and smile every time she checked on us. I had a wonderful raspberry margarita on the rocks. Very tasty! The salsa provided with the tortilla chips was superb. I see why the bowl is so small that they provide. It has a nice aroma with a tiny kick of heat. We may have had our salsa bowl refilled 3 times! I also got the queso which was $6.50 for the same size portion bowl as the salsa. Our food came out in less than 20 minutes. My entree was the Chicken Enchiladas. Everything tasted fresh! The enchiladas didn't have much meat inside but they gave you three in total which makes up for that. Entree included black beans and white rice. I have to honestly say, the enchiladas wasn't my favorite. I must come back to try more food or even more margaritas see if it's really a nice find. Regardless this a clean, prompt service restaurant. I just need to find a favorite dish! read more

This is a great place to go! Usually maintained by the family who owns it so you will always see locals in there. Breakfasts are fabulous here! Full bar for those Gnarly Spicy Hangover Bloody Mary's you will need. Came in for lunch and tried their steak burrito! Huge!!!!! So good and don't forget the spicy salsa! I have recently started to love Cuban food after a few trips to Florida, and was thrilled to find this place close to home! I visited with my boyfriend on a Sunday around noon and we had a 15 minute wait. We started off with the nachos. I enjoyed them but wish they would have had more sauce or queso instead of shredded cheese (that's a personal opinion though, my dad loves shredded cheese on nachos). For my entree I ordered the ropa vieja and I absolutely loved it! It had excellent flavor, served with delicious black beans, plantains, and rice. The plantains were perfect in every way. The table had a nice selection of hot sauce so I added some of that to give the dish some heat. My boyfriend ordered the roast pork. He liked the flavor of his dish but said the pork didn't taste super fresh and he liked the ropa vieja better. We will definitely be back to get more ropa vieja and try the breakfast! read more

This place is underrated!!! I've been to a lot of Mexican places, and this one outdoes then all. I went here with my friend who frequents this place. She had a quesadilla and I had the ropa vieja. We also had their hot salsa, and drinks. First, the portions are huge, but not so big that you're like holy crap how am I going to finish! The ropa dish was so fresh and has great bright colors. The meat was juicy and tender, the plantains were absolutely delish! Her quesadillas were big and packed to the brim with fresh veggies. Louie's did it again! I highly recommend the Jambalaya! The generous entree portion was served in a large shallow bowl with rice separating the meaty jambalaya and black beans. Seasoning was spot on and the thick slice of Cuban bread the perfect vehicle to sop up the delicious sauce. Service was quick and attentive without being annoying. My friend's Brisket Burrito looked amazing and I'll try that next time I visit. The high backed booths are cozy and allow for easy conversation in the large space. While this place is tucked away somewhat, it's never disappointing. Basically it's a Cuban /Mexican hybrid menu but there is plenty of more traditional items as well. Parking used to be a real problem until Aldi's opened up next door. Now it's never a problem. The place needs a bit of decor updates but it's pretty clean and well kept. Pricing is very good value to portion ratio. I'm partial to their Southwest Linguine and Jambalaya both of which are stellar! Definitely worth a visit for lunch but not the intimate place for a date night. It's pretty quiet and can handle larger parties if necessary. Bilingual staff. Recommended. read more

I must say the salsa was amazing and I loved how it was a bit spicier than other salsas. I had a great dinner and our service was amazing. I've been coming to Louie's for years for the plantains because it's much more chill than Starliner. Over time, the plantains and their specials have been so amazing that is what keeps us coming back. You definitely want to go for the specials or more texmex vibe dishes here. So. Good. There's some booths and tables and a bar area although I've never seen anyone up there. Today we ordered: Honey mustard chicken grill: a chicken breast with bacon and honey mustard, complete with lettuce tomato and onion on a bun. Came with fries. Good amount of food, I couldn't finish it all. I love honey mustard so I liked the flavor. Reasonable price as well, I think it was under $9. Perfect plate with Scrambled eggs, bacon, Cuban toast, hash brown: basic breakfast. Hash browns were huge chunks of potato. Some like that, some don't. Cuban toast is good. Bacon is thin and light. Cakes and eggs with two pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon: pancakes were really really good. Nice texture. The eggs weren't great. Our waitress was attentive and nice. The only total downside was we saw an ant crawling up the side of the wall next to our booth during our meal. One ant isn't a huge deal but it makes you wonder how many else might be around.... Overall it's a basic spot. If it weren't for the plantains I wouldn't return when I'm in town like I do. read more

I went here for the breakfast burrito. On paper, it's got a lot of unique ingredients that are tasty aside from the beans, which I have always found to be a no-no in breakfast burritos as they overpower everything. But I wanted to try it as intended since it's the first time here for me. As expected the beans were front and center. There were a ton in the burrito and took the flavor away from almost everything else. I was able to finagle it so that I got a few bites of no beans and it was a much better flavor. Personally, if I ever come back to this restaurant, I would get no beans and have the red sauce and potatoes that come with it put inside. In my opinion every breakfast burrito should have a potato in some form inside and don't need to be a side dish. This burrito has a lot of potential, just needs a little tweaking to be great (for me). Give it a try! read more

Place was clean, staff was friendly but the food was not so great. I ordered the three ground beef tacos with rice. Lunch came, presentation looked well enough. First sign that it may not be great was that I had white rice. Upon tasting it, it tasted just like white minute rice. So I gave the tacos a try. Not good. They tasted exactly like tacos from Taco Bell! Even down to the flour tortillas, and amount of beef in the taco was actually probably a little less than a Taco Bell taco. I don't mind Taco Bell, but if I had known, I wouldn't have paid 11$ for three tacos. I did not even ask how my coworkers food was, I can only write a review based on my food. read more

Hilliard's best-kept secret. When a plate of food is set before me I have expectations of what it will taste like just from the presentation. Louie's always surprises me. There are flavors hiding in the mix I can't identify and the food just tastes different... it's what I ordered plus something more. It's probably the fusion thing but I love it! I hate eating out and tasting the same thing I will taste in most restaurants. When I eat out, I want a unique experience, something I can't just get at a store. I have been going here more and more often because there menu is awesome. It has just about everything you could possibly want and my most recent visit was for breakfast. For lunch and dinner they have it nailed but I had no idea they made such great breakfasts. Louie's is well run, full of great options, full of helpful people, and has food that is crave-able. They also have the best fried plantains that I have ever had. If you have never had one before, this is the place to try them. Some of their dishes come with this bread that could be a food group. It is exactly what you need for the sauces that have on there pasta dishes. I am kind of thinking about going there today for dinner. read more

I've eaten at Louie's a few times over the years but it's never knocked my socks off. The food is good and sometimes the service is good, except for a particularly odd experience when the server seemed pissed off at us and ignored us at the end. One time my granddaughter's grilled cheese was not grilled completely so we sent it back only to have it come back out with the cheese still not completely melted. Weird. Anyway, since we feel like our eatery choices are limited in Hilliard, we have taken a second look at Louie's and decided to come for breakfast on Saturday morning. This was our first time here for breakfast. We were the first on the patio, and had a pretty good meal. I had the Vegetable Breakfast Burrito, that had fried potatoes on the side. It was very good and I would order it again. Our server was sweet, and did a great job. My husband had one of the specials of the day, the Cajun Scramble, which he enjoyed very much. In looking at the menu again, we will give dinner another shot one of the days. read more
