The owner is awesome. I took my old beat up mountain bike that I had given to my nephew years ago…read morehere. My nephew was just a kid and like me, loved having the freedom of a bicycle so I decided to give him my old classic Stumpjumper. Well, my nephew grew up and got a car and one day asked me if I wanted my bike back which I very happily took back. But it had been sitting in the garage for years. I originally took it to two shops in SoCal and they both said around $400. Didn't have time to fix it before moving to Arlington so took my bike with me and took it to another shop in the area and they said $800! I wasn't crazy about that so came here to Big Wheel. The owner looked at my bike and was like, $150-200. I was like, naw my bike needs a lot of work. Why don't you hold on to it and let me know? Well, he fixed it up and charged me $200! All those other shops were going to buy me new wheels. He was like, I took a good look at your wheels and they're old, but you don't need new ones. You can ride those out until they blow. Agreed. He also said he could restore it (my bike was filthy) but what was the point? It's a mountain bike. Agreed. So replaced some cables, a spoke, tightened up all the loose joints, oiled and ready to ride. I rode it to my car from the shop and it rides great! Yep, this is the place.

I really appreciated that they didn't just fix it--they made sure I understood what happened. And the little details made such a difference: they even asked me what kind of music I wanted them to play in the store while they were working on my bike. Such friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful customer service. I felt really taken care of and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend Big Wheel!

I'm fortunate to have this bike shop near me…read more From my bike (which is kept in my frequently unused dining room) we heard this loud hissing sound this morning after air was put in her yesterday. Yep, tire flat. So I jump online to figure out what time this bike shop opens, 11AM. I call in case they do a seasonal shutdown and they confirm they are open for business. We are promptly served, about 5 folks working upfront. We are in/out within 30 minutes with a new tire tube installed plus some advice on future service I will need after I request an inspection for other defects. So I suspect I'll take my bike back at the end of this riding season or early Spring 2025. Their inventory is awesome. There was a customized none-motorized bike upfront waiting for pickup that cost $8K. Mine blowing! They have lots of e-bike too. They have lots of bikes, period. They have a small 2 seat waiting area with coffee service. I bought my bike from them, many moons ago and she's still in pretty good shape(except from being dirty I was told with a smile). The recommended future service stuff is low cost routine maintenance type stuff IMO.

Coolest bike shop in SOMD. I recently had a minor repair done on my bike. The repair required a…read morepart to be ordered which took longer than originally expected. I was contacted after the original due date to inform me of the additional length of time. Once the repair was completed, I needed an adjustment to meet my original specs. This adjustment was performed while I waited, which I was happy about. Lastly, the final cost was about 20% higher than the estimate. No explanation offered. Overall, the shop is cool, nice inventory, nice location, plenty of accessories, cool staff and a competent repair shop. Hours of operation are from 12-5 from M-Sat which doesn't fit a normal customer's work schedule at all. I had to either take off work or plan a Saturday around this repair. But having said that, I'm sure management has a good reason for these hours of operation.

There was a steady stream of customers in and out, families, road bikers, browsing, buying, getting bikes serviced. When they were busy, we waited. ItI was a pleasant experience. A well run shop!. We bought a used kid's bike at a reasonable cost. Thinking of returning to purchase a new cruiser that's calling out to me.. I now regret leaving without it. FIVE stars!

Old guy detour (includes some get off my lawn); YouTube is just fine, and we as a society can benefit from some of the material therein. However, there is sometimes a place for "experts", people who do a thing, who have trained, and prepared, and have the tools to achieve a correct outcome. There is nothing wrong with getting some tips for a minor problem, and (if you are a bit handy) taking the DIY route on something. However there are some things that we should leave to those who have trained, worked hard to acheive the skills to do a thing; governance, surgery, complex plumbing, electric, tree felling, bicycle derailleurs! I have the luxury of being able to leave work in the middle of a day on Friday. I called, they were available, we drove over, they took the bike right in. Had some pleasant conversation, they fixed it in 15 minutes ($20), and educated us [they always do]. We have been here 3 times now, and 3 times an absolutely 100% positive experience. This is a quality business, with capable caring folks. Good products/service/expertise isn't "cheap" it shouldn't be. This place cares about the work they do, they care about cyclists and they are an excellent resource. This is our new "go to".
