I took my class with Matthew Perez, adjunct instructor to Barry, and he made sure the content was clear. The skills instructors and professors only want the best for us and it was thoroughly shown throughout my time that was spent with them. A lot of attention and guidance is provided to the students and if at any time confusion was present, the professors and skills instructors made sure to clarify the topics. Furthermore, whenever students had a question outside of class Mr. Perez was always prompt on answering emails and was able to meet the student's individual needs. As cheesy as it sounds, I can go on and on about how great this program is but you would only have to experience it to understand!

I have to say that I honestly enjoyed my educational experience at PCC! If anyone is thinking about taking Hospitality Management you'll be glad you did at PCC from Dr. Mark Keene. There's ALOT of homework and ALOT of detail but trust me its all good. Financial aid office was extremely helpful with anything I needed they were there to take of my financial needs and made sure all was taken care of on time. The student services office that help students out with grocery cards or gas cards were all very cool and always helpful. So if PCC is on your mind I say give it a go!

As a music major, they have excellent programs regarding the arts and have a separate building specifically for the arts. Although, sometimes music classes may be held at other buildings. I did finish with 70 credits with a 3.0 GPA although, when it comes to counseling and class advisory, they're not much help unfortunately. Basically for the most part, you do have to figure it out on your own. I generally did have a good experience and education at PCC. Especially with understanding with how music works when it comes to theory. Some of the learning is hands on and off. When it comes to college social life, if I'm being honest, it was great to make the connections I did...although, I should've mainly focused on trying to further my education rather than distracting myself. Other than that, it's generally a good community college if you're coming out of high school and a beautiful campus in my opinion.

Not the schools fault but just giving you my life update. While I live in Northridge! I give this place a 4 because and the only reason why I took away a star is because they told me the class was going to start feb 23rd, they pushed it back a week, and they gave us the wrong calendar and not the updated part of the calendar! This is the only reason why I give it a 4 and not a 5 I love how they have sections they have the hands on part to build a house, they have another section to teach you math, and the final part of life skills such as making a resume and mock interviews. For me the major con is it's a bit of a drive but for those who live closer to this campus location it would not be an issue at all. The second con is due to it being so small (it's literally just one large building 2 floors) in comparison to the main PCC campus and extension campus on Foothill in Pasadena not as many courses are offered. Pros are FREE, yes I said it FREE parking. Both semesters I have taken classes here there has never been an issue finding parking in the medium sized lot. There are signs that state there is a nearby lot with shuttle service accommodation if the main one becomes full. I have yet to utilize the second lot. Another plus is they do have some counseling services available, as well as a student services center with a reasonable study space and microwaves available. I have only take classes winter and summer session here so cannot speak in Regards of other devices that may be offered during the full fall and spring terms. A neat thing that I saw upon entering the campus was a small table set up with a keurig coffee maker with kpods. People are welcomed to bring there own cup to use and cookies are sometimes put out for students as well. There is also a basket for food joint coupons so that you can add or take if needed. This is free and I thought it was very thoughtful.

We called South Pas to ask what their classes were like and were assured that children not only pick up new skills, but they leave class tired and ready for some quiet time. Awesome. We decided to sign up for two classes based on the recommendation of the rec department. The course we recently attended was Mini Sports Blitz. "45 minutes of games and activities" says the catalog, except for one major problem...the children are active for maybe 5 to 7 minutes each 45 minute session. What does this mean? That the kids wait in ridiculous lines or take turns 1 at a time to participate (recent example: about 15 kids waited 15 minutes to use a bat once on a t-ball stand. They were instructed on how to hit the ball, and run around the bases. There was 1 bat and 1 stand.) So what do the other kids do while they wait so long? Stand around, play with mom or dad, sit, take off, some parents play catch with another ball, go to the playground nearby - for 15 minutes! That's an awfully long time as an adult to wait, and we're talking 2 to 3 year olds...such a waste. While the instructor, Andy, seems nice, he's not volunteering his services. He hardly seems to understand a toddler's developmental needs in a group setting and how the kids should be active most of the class time - he could easily break up the kids into smaller groups, bring in more equipment, or just in case he has to make do with the what he already has, concurrently work on two or more different activities in different areas, and recruit help from all the parents that otherwise stand around doing very little. Cost: $50 for 4 classes. What does this break down to? About $2 per minute of activity. My massages are cheaper! Eek indeed! Is it possible for Andy to reflect on his instruction and notice that the only person moving around and talking the entire time is him? Remember though, this is the 2nd class through SP Rec Services, and similarly low skilled instructors keep the kids active for 10% of the time for the same reason. This is apparently an issue that needs to be addressed within the department either by going to the classes to observe and see how much activity on the kids part is actually taking place, or with a parent survey that addresses this area specifically. Otherwise, this is as good as it gets in South Pas and you'd be better off driving further out to enroll for classes in Arcadia or San Marino, or even to the closest park near you, for free.
