She might as well be the owner. She is such a jewel, the sweetest lady that I know. Yesterday, I had to stop at CVS, and noticed that she is kind of hiding behind the magazines/newspapers having her lunch. We had some small talk and we both went our own separate ways. There is also this other man that keeps her company. She said it herself. When it gets dark. This LA newsstand has everything from regular magazines, to newspapers, to trendy magazines, little knick knacks here and there. I mean wall to wall. Whatever you can't find anywhere else, they have it here. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular, but just the selection and the way it's nicely organized, always captures my attention. Every magazine has its own value/price and are more affordable than anywhere else. However, they don't have books. That's ok, Barnes and Noble is few steps away! The stand itself is super clean and so is the sidewalk, along with both trash cans always empty. It you are in the area, make sure you stop by and say hello to Rene. Support this stand. They are AWESOME in every way!! Street/metered parking and you can also use the parking next door with CVS. Same goes for the restrooms.

Super cool newspaper stand with all the latest and greatest prints…read more From all the magazines (Vanity Fair, Auto Inc, The Advocate, GQ, Time, Fader, TV Insider) to the Daily Planet... Well the local LA Times and The San Fernando Valley Sun that is and even city happenings. You need it? They've most likely got it! Located outside the CVS on the South West corner of Ventura Blvd and Laurel Canyon. There's metered parking as well as shared lot parking for CVS and neighboring businesses directly off Laurel Canyon. Open daily as early 7am to as late as 7pm during the week, with extended hours on Saturdays and reduced hours on holidays like the 4th. The prices are very reasonable and as one of the last seven stands in Greater LA, Laurel Canyon News is definitely the way. Definitely support your local newspaper & magazine stands!

Got me some children's books and a non-fiction book, kind of a reading challenge as I'm sadly very occupied with my smartphone. And it's refreshing to see a whole wall of magazines. Every month, if you buy a children's book, you can buy a featured, popular kids' book for $9.99. I took advantage and love the amusing, heavily discounted "Mother Bruce". Many gift options as well- LP's, Legos, journals, mugs, candles, puzzles and stuffed animals, though they are overpriced. The store is in what looks like a converted theater. A big plus is the huge parking lot in the back, for the whole block. Really appreciate having a large, clean brick and mortar bookstore to immerse yourself in.

I have been to this Barnes & Noble so many times in the past and keep forgetting to write a review…read moreon them. This is a one-stop book store for all your needs. They have a vast selection of books from fiction to non-fiction, bibles, covers of bibles, cookbooks, celebrity books, autobiography, trend magazines along with other magazines.. wall to wall all the way in the back. They have a big selection of children's books too. Prices vary depending what you buy. They used to sell CD's too. Have bought few in the past. They have a little corner when you walk in to your right that sell gifts, knick knack stuff that are practical, beautiful, and unique. I have purchased few in the past. Walked in yesterday and got a warm, friendly hello from couple of their employees. They were eager to help me and see what I was looking for. I needed a few cookbooks, couple of celebrity books that always captures my attention and I was lucky enough that they had what I was looking for. If they don't have it, they will order it for you. Once it arrives, you will get an email, a text or a phone call from them to go and pick it up. Don't forget to use your 10% discount at the front. You have to be a member of the store. Store is BIG, clean, nicely organized alphabetically according to what you are looking for. All aisles are easy to navigate and it's pretty quiet in there which I love. They even have few armchairs to sit down and read a book. Great store..hands down!! Parking in the back shared with few other businesses. One gender neutral restroom and it is ALWAYS clean. Have used it few times. Thank you Barnes & Noble, all employees for your loyalty, dedication and always being kind and willing to help. Appreciated.

Color FX staff replied to my Yelp reiterating that if you upload a file and need to change the file…read moreyou can not. Yes Color FX I understand this now, I'm out over $1000 because of this policy. I was not aware of this policy when ordering the post cards and was completely shocked when they would do nothing to help me. I have used Partner Printing, 4 over and 4 printers only for gang run work and they don't have these rigid policies. Price and turn time is on spot as well. ColorFx is not a fit for my company and I will not use them again. Thank You ColorFx for pointing out that I didn't understand your policy. I hope my Yelp post will save other Yelpers the financial loss I suffered.

Two parts to this review - sales rep. and production manager…read more I agree with the other 2 reviews regarding the sales rep. My sales rep. was rude and unhelpful when placing the order online. My sales rep. was misleading on the price along with shipping. He also denied my request for a particular type of fold that was needed for the brochure. Therefore, I was forced to choose a fold that I did not want. However, the production manager called to inform me that the layout of the job calls for the fold I originally requested and that he could do it. I appreciated his call and he did the Correct fold on the brochure. When I received my order, the brochures were packaged horribly, and damaged from the shipping. The corners were bent and there were spots on the printing. I called and emailed my sales rep to receive no answer. I spoke to someone in customer service and they said I had to file a claim with UPS. Both reps, said I had to return the product at my cost. I told the rep I was gonna hang on to 50 samples (order qty. 1000) to give to my customer, he said that I could not keep any samples. I had to return the whole order. When I spoke to the production manager to complain, first thing he asked was, "did you keep any samples to give to the customer?" The production manager listened thoroughly as I explained the troubles with the job and my sales rep. He would take care of it the job. I received a proof to verify cut marks and specs. I received the order 5 days later and it looked great. The production manager really listened to my needs. He understood the job called for a roll fold, the brochures were packaged beautifully and rubber band, and the order was doubled box so there would be no damages from shipping. They only got 2 stars because of the Production Manager, otherwise it would have been none. If I had dealt with the production manager from start to finish, I feel everything would have gone a lot smoother.

But then you realize it extends this way, and that way, and it just sort of sucks you in deeper and deeper. I spent an hour here, bought way too many books, and could easily have spent another hour. There are absolute diamonds to be found here and the prices are very reasonable. The Iliad also has what every bookstore anywhere should have: cats. There are two cats roaming the bookstore and they are very friendly. If I owned a bookstore, it would be a haven for cats. Well worth a visit and a drive from almost anywhere.

I am giving four stars because I had a list of a dozen books I was searching for from Oscar Wilde, Dostoyesky, and a bunch of business books like How to Win Friends, the Warren Buffett biography, History of Rome by Gibbon, and a handful of other titles and couldn't find a single one. So this place definitely specializes in more obscure books and it's important to know that everything is used. They do have a free parking lot in back so parking is really easy. As mentioned they do have tons and tons of titles so you can really spend a good amount of time just perusing everything that they have. I would recommend if you are in the area but not necessarily if you are hunting for a specific title, especially a new one.
