The Pacific Dunes resort worked for what we needed: one night stay with a king bed on the Olympic's Pacific Ocean. It did have more than necessary/expected with a kitchenette (microwave, kettle, stove, large fridge but no tea or coffee), living area with cable TV, and cute "boutique" decor. As for the nitty gritty, while everything was decent looking, it was showing its use. Bedside USB charger plugs didn't work. WiFi spotty; though we were avoid devices to enjoy our time anyway. Walls were paper thin with neighbors hearing our conversations and them ours, in addition to bathroom noise. So much so that I felt bad showering in the evening. The bathroom towels were so thin that they just got soaked immediately. Upon walking in, the entire place had an odd, strong scent that I couldn't put my finger on what it was. However, it was something that stuck in my sinuses. The employee said that there are no artificial scents used, but that it could be a lemon floor cleaner. While it didn't smell like lemon, them must have douced the floor in a cleaning solution of some sort. Getting over that fact, the place was quaint and had a comfy bed is crucial. It is steps from the beach and public fireplaces, arcade and a coffee shop on property. Solid 3.5 stars. read more

What an awful visit. We liked the proximity to the ocean, and figured we would take some time off camping, but this place was in shambles and the staff were at war with the Jet management team. Before I get to the accommodations, it is worthwhile to point out that while we were checking in the staff were telling us how understaffed they were and how little support there was from upper management. How they had been suckered into this job and lied to. And how they felt stuck now and couldn't get away. We felt more of that vibe as we walked to the showers (yikes!) and the cleaning staff were loudly arguing with each other, and stomping off in either direction. We guests in the area were looking at each other like, what was that?! The next day suddenly there was a polo-wearing guy who was clearly from corporate being plastic friendly to us in ways that made no sense. Like, we were walking back from the shower to our glamping tent and he said, "You headed out to get some farm fresh eggs?!" Like, no, Chad. We are coming back from the shower. And I know you are all worked up about farm eggs being from the city, but we are rural people. We brought eggs with us. We know he was trying to be his version of polite, but it was a great illustration of how some investor-types just don't have a realistic understanding of their seaside property. Then came the "glamping" accommodations. We weren't expecting much but it was worse than that. The only heat in the tent was a wood burning stove, but the provided wood didn't fit in the mini-stove! There was no way to make heat! And they only provide one small blanket. It was awfully cold and wet. We obviously went and talked with the manager who was a total sweetheart and she said she would get us some wood that fit the stove for second night. Late in the day we saw that manager lady again who said the wood would be delivered, and that she had been fired that day and would be gone. Oh. She was the only good thing about the place so far. The wood showed up while we were gone at the beach. And of the 6-7 pieces of wood provided, only two fit. We had to use our own hatchet to break it down to size because we couldn't find anyone in power to get us the right stuff. We were threatened by a dog on the property trying to walk to the beach. There was no soap in any of the dispensers in the bathroom. They don't seem like they had been well-cleaned in a long time. The water was tepid and low flow. It was all gross. And this is small but typical. They have these magnetic dartboards in the front of all the tents on a patio situation. Seemingly they functioned once and there were darts for them. But now there are, like, one dart on them. It has that vibe that they were trying to be playful when they opened, but made a poor choice in magnetic darts, and then never did upkeep the place, so it is just sad now. We wanted a refund and knew we deserved it. There was no one we could find on property in the morning, not even polo guy who was supposed to save the day. Called later and left a message and no one called back. Obviously, we do not recommend. read more

This place does not enforce quiet hours regardless how late it is. Texted a few times for a noise issue, and no one ever responded, not even a single word. If you want a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway and if you happen to have an inconsiderate group that think they can party like they are in their 20's and drink/party until 3 am, you will not have a very pleasant time at this place. So please go look somewhere else. I wanted to like this place even though the place was a bit outdated, and definitely not the cleanest. Their bathroom trashcan was overflowing, and toilets were not scrubbed inside. I don't even know if anyone is on site to manage-- I didn't see a single person assisting check in or check out. I guess only good thing is the location which is right next to the beach, but i think you can look somewhere else which there are plenty of options near by. read more

I really loved the idea of this place. We loved contactless checking in and the location was spectacular. We could walk to the beach. The bummer is the wifi didn't work and I had no cell service, so I couldn't contact anyone, not even the resort itself. The TV wifi worked but I couldn't log into any of the apps because I had zero service. Also, the coffee shop was closed the entire time, likely due to off season but a sign would have helped the sting of disappointment. The town is super low key and friendly. We loved the kitchen and the sound of rain all night as the ocean winds rocked us back and forth. Everyone slept well. It is a nice off the grid experience. read more

This place is pretty bad. It doesn't feel like anyone is on site that actually works there. They say you can text/call anytime, but if you do they don't respond. The bathroom was dirty. The toilet paper was not refilled and actually ran out. The soap was empty in the shower. They did some drilling on the walls above the outside sink and left wood shavings all over. The bathroom sink didn't drain well. Our tent's lamp didn't work. The list goes on and on. The worst part is they didn't enforce any quiet hours. We were unlucky that the next door camp was partying till 3am, screaming and blasting music. We texted them multiple times and had no response at all. The only good thing is the location is near the beach. However there's definitely other options I would consider before this place. read more

We had a Girls Trip for 8 and wanted an affordable place close to the ocean, Pacific Dunes Resort was wonderful!! We rented two of the tiny homes (cozy for 8) and had a terrific time! We're already talking about renting an RV spot for the 4th. read more

Pros... 1. Outdoor showers with hot water to rinse all the sand! Huge win!! 2. Beach access, nice walk thru the dunes and over the creek. 3. Sandy kid area to play in and visible from all RV campsites. 4. Super kind host, the gal was running all day cleaning and taking care of the rooms. Since she was solo, I would recommend a way to contact her when she has to be away from the front desk. Cons... 1. The RV/tent spots are too small! We couldn't even put out the awning fully without being in the other site. 2. The reservation site does not allow you to pick a spot so all five guests were right next to each other and the rest of the park was completely empty. There was no privacy and frustrating to be that close for no reason. 3. Sewer flys are on the showers 4. Garbage cans had no lid and were in the kid zone, food and over flow was not pleasant. I would stay again if they update the site sizes and allow for us to pick our own site. read more

We glamped at Pacific Dunes in October and have already booked to come back in May. We found the accommodations to be very comfortable...the tents and restrooms were clean, the bed linens were soft, the campground was well-kept, the grills were clean and easy to operate. Most of all, the hosts were absolutely delightful! They were easy to reach, accommodating and very flexible. When I called back to book for our May trip, the host remembered me and our group! I highly recommend and look forward to many more glamping trips to come in the future. read more

An update - I wrote to ask why I hadn't been refunded for the price difference in rooms and got this wonderful response from the resort manager, reprinted here in its entirety: Let's get something straight....Being a jerk gets you absolutely nowhere, which you are being in this email, as well as the night you checked in.  I was actually told by the owner to tell you to leave the next morning but I said I won't do that because I felt bad for the screw up made by our reservation system. So, with that being said, I actually called and cancelled a different reservation instead of having you all leave. You're correct, I did say I would credit you back the difference between a Queen and King Room.  In the craziness of the weekend, I forgot about it.  Please, oh please, forgive me for being human. Don't worry I all ready credited you back your $30 ($10 a night difference between King and Queen) plus the tax for a total of $33.60 because apparently that $33.60 is Super Duper Important to you. 1st this is anything but a "resort". The "camp" host are less than stellar. They are inflexible on check in at 3pm so one would think they take that time to clean and prepare for guest, far far from it. The community bathrooms were disgusting, poop in the toilets, the shampoo container was basically water, dirty, etc. There were THREE RVs and they put us all in a corner, when the rest of the "resort" was empty. One of the RV owners had a difficult time getting in and out, why cram everyone in one spot making it super unpleasant in so many ways when the entire place is EMPTY?! It is contactless check in so you do not even see anyone. They need new camp host among so many other things, in a word YUK! read more

Our family of four stayed from 8/25 to 8/26/2024. We chose a "Beachfront Boutique" small house with a kitchenette. The "Resort" really is a campground, a level gravel-covered 2-acre lot, which offers accommodations fitting various budgets, from pitching your own tent and using a shared bathroom, to miniature houses that are equivalent to a hotel room. The campground is not on or next to the beach, as the term "beachfront" may imply, but is separated from the beach by a 5 to 10 minute walk across sand dunes, including a bridge (with steep steps) over a stream that prevents anyone using a wheelchair to access the beach. The amenities of the "Resort" are that it has a central play area for kids, and a bathroom/rest room for those without private baths, and you can purchase coffee in the morning. The small house we stayed in was tastefully decorated and functional, except for the leaky shower which creates a large puddle in the bathroom even when the shower door is fully closed. More advance information what the kitchenette entails would be useful. It does not have an oven, but a microwave, and two electric burners, a bottle opener, but no can opener. The rooms were clean. The beach is lovely, with some driftwood and occasional dead marine animals washed onto the shore (such as a decapitated seal with thousands of flies buzzing where the head used to be). The "Resort" uses contactless check-in: you get a text message with your door code. While the extra charges for late check-out are disclosed, you are not informed that an early check-in also incurs extra fees (a 15% surcharge plus tax). This undisclosed fee applies even if you simply need to find out what the kitchenette has and does not have so you can plan for your dinner, when the innkeepers are not on site to answer questions. The fact that the innkeepers and owner use undisclosed fees to increase revenue and even falsify business records (the undisclosed early check-in fee is listed as a late check-out fee on the final invoice) leaves a bad taste. The Innkeepers and Owner (Aaron Mumford) refused to refund the undisclosed early check-in fee, even though we explained that we repeatedly went to the (closed) office to find out whether it was ok to open the door early (so we could plan our dinner). Another aspect to consider is that Copalis Beach is the rainiest place in all of Washington state. When it rains (186 days per year), you are literally hosed, because all you can do is to hunker down in your room or tent, so plan your vacation carefully according to the weather forecast. When the weather does not cooperate you are better off in a real resort that offers alternative indoor options in rainy weather. read more

Stayed for three nights in the Foxtrot glamping tent. Very happy with the accommodation and it was similar to the photos in the ads. Bed was comfortable and the wood burning stove kept us toasty warm. The bathhouse is nice, though some things are unfinished. For example, capped wires sticking out of the wall and uncovered switches and outlets. A bit strange that it is unisex and while using the restroom I had men in there with me. One experience with my using the bathroom and a man making a comment from the next stall. Was creepy. The area is peaceful and grounds look pretty good. The people with dogs got a bit overwhelming. We didn't have a dog with us, but I wound up cleaning up after one that the neighbors didn't control. Another ran up to me when I came out of my tent barking at me. People need to respect the posted leash rule! Have to blame that on the guests and not the site though! They cannot police people all the time and people really need to care for their dogs. I would suggest providing grilling options for guests. No place to cook if you are in the tents. Charcoal grills like in parks would be a good option. No options for cooking and the bath house are why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.would still come back though, was a nice vacation for us. read more
