I agree with Michael F's review from 2015. When we first purchased our condo on Maui, we wanted to work with Steven and he couldn't deliver. We decided to give him another shot as we wanted to move forward with a refinance. Our property is a bit complicated because it's a condotel with a large number of timeshares & a board that doesn't want to increase it's insurance coverage to meet new FHA requirements. That limits the number of lenders we can work with & we've gone through a number of application processes only to have lenders reject the property after all that work (and credit pulls, which end up on our credit reports). We explained all of this to Steven & asked him for rates. He refused to give them without an application. Multiple emails later he finally gave us numbers, but not the ones we wanted, due to being "busy". I said we'd wait. He said he'd send them. Two months later, I follow up with the same email chain and he takes me through the same run around again. Wanting me to call him. I just want two numbers. Not a phone call. Not a sales job. When you can't be upfront with folks and you run them around, why would I trust you with my home? My biggest investment? I don't find him to best honest or trustworthy and I would strongly urge you to look elsewhere for financing. read more

I have tried with Steven Magnum. He doesn't want to help the little guy. He is looking for a easy million dollar deal there isn't one. He tells you things and doesn't come through with his promises. I was referred to him from a realtor friend of mine. I have given this man every opportunity over the course of 1 year and he doesn't follow through or is "too busy" to help and assist. The same thing others do and give me a approval. On a island people talk, I am ensure to put my two sense in to others looking for a home loan who has helped me and who has not. Not a good thing on a island not to deliver and not follow through with something universally others can do. I don't recommend this guy at all. Talks a lot but doesn't do the walk.. Actions speak louder than words. At least make a effort and show you care about someone even if you can't help them! Total bullshit! I don't like snakes on this island. read more
