I used Pacific Industrial as a materials supplier on my modern house. They have a cool collection of metal odds and ends, and can special order although a bit on the expensive side and I've had to call a couple of times to remind them about bids. As a material supplier they take their overhead and seem to work with you if all you need is materials as-is. I had a bad experience my last time though. If you are trying to get materials cut or drilled or any basic metal work, even though they have the equipment, they are rather rude about it and unwilling to help. I was given a quote to drill holes, I came by with material and from one guy who said sure, I got to another manager who said not today but no problem, we'll definitely do it. Then, next week, Mark turned me away. I asked why and had to call a few times to get an answer. Not sure what kind of business does this and treats people like this. I've purchased a couple of thousands worth of materials so I was disappointed with the service and will be looking elsewhere for my next projects. read more

It's like a toy store for people who work metal or like tools. This is where you go if you want good prices and products that you can't find at typical hardware stores. The best part though is the scrap yard sections. You can find just about anything at insanely low prices. I picked up 12 ft of 1 inch steel cable that was 'scrap' for 30% what retail price would be. As to the service, these guys are awesome. Even if you know nothing and it's your first time at it, they treat you like a regular. read more

This place is amazing. I went there for the first time today, and it pretty much blew my mind. For one thing, it is apparently the only place in Seattle where you can get *spray* sidewalk chalk. And they have it in tons of colors! It's amazing! I thought I'd have to go pick up the spray sidwalk chalk in one store and then shop elsewhere for my stencil material/exacto-knife/traditional "stick" sidewalk chalk needs. But they had it all in one place! They even gave me a big ol' cardboard box to make a stencil out of for free. Not only that, but the customer service was TERRIFIC! They were helpful and informative on the phone, and then when I showed up all in a panic this afternoon desperately trying to get everything I needed together at the last minute, the gentleman at the counter seemed genuinely happy to greet us and answer all of our questions, even offering up some extremely helpful suggestions and demonstrating use of the items we were purchasing. He even volunteered to install the blades on my exacto knife for me, just out of the kindness of his heart. Seriously a cool dude. They have all kinds of stuff there! From giant casters to construction vests to sidewalk chalk to buoys, there's all sorts of useful items. My mom, who rode along with me on this errand, was super impressed as well. We each intend to visit Pacific Industrial Supply Co again in the near future, when we're not in such a hurry, and can look around at all the neat stuff and browse at our leisure. I really didn't expect to be blown away by a random industrial supply store. But I totally was! My rainy-day sidewalk chalk project turned out beautifully, and I couldn't be happier with the results of my Pacific Industrial Supply Co. adventure. Very limited stock. Mostly smaller stuff. If they have what you want great, if not you wasted a trip. I don't think you can check inventory online. Staff is friendly and as helpful as possible. read more
