This business gets two stars (and not one) only because the sales rep was friendly. Other than that, they dropped the ball on my small house project and wasted a lot of both my contractor's and my time, delaying my project months. I was promised I would receive tile samples in the mail. However, after several weeks there were no samples and no attempt to communicate. I contacted them and my contractor contacted them. We were then told multiple times that they were working on it. After several more weeks, We continued to get the runaround. It has now been many weeks and I'm back to square one on my project (looking for tile samples). Had they simply contacted me early-on and explained that they wouldn't be able to help me, then I could've moved on to a competitor. However, they successfully dragged their feet for so long that now my project is delayed. My contractor commented that in over 40 years of residential contracting he had rarely seen such a complete failure. Perhaps I am too small of a client to bother. If you are a little guy like me and have read this far, perhaps consider a competitor that treats all customers in a professional manner. Good luck! read more

I'm thoroughly agitated as I write this comment. Mental Surfaces is either going through some management shift, or they just have dumb people running the store. I've been in to look at granite for a house project. First time, no, we have plenty of this granite, no hurry. I reply even if it's after the holidays. Yup, don't worry. Two, I was told I couldn't enter the floor because I don't have an appointment. I say I'm here to pick out the slabs I want. Pental says, nope, sorry, plus it's close to when the boys go to lunch. Besides, you need an appointment to enter the floor. Third, make an appointment for the next business day. Come in on the next business day. Was greeted by a person at the front desk. Tell her my name, no record of my appointment. She says, go back to the floor. Go to the desk in the back. No one knew why we needed an appointment, and we were made aware that the slab we were coming to see Pental has no more in stock. ETA is who the hell knows. I left furious and dumbfounded at how a place can be run so poorly--nothing on the website about appointments needed or instructions on COVID. The employees are friendly and personable. The management is on another planet. Tread with caution. read more

They have a lot of variety. They are bit over priced. But they won't sell to individuals. You need contractor license to buy from them. They commission the contractors. They won't even tell you the price until you have a contractor with you Which I didn't like. read more

Their selection was great and it was nice to be able to walk through the warehouse and see the slabs. We purchased quite a bit of quartz for a very large kitchen (counters, waterfall island, backsplash, etc.). After everything was fabricated and installed we noticed 4 long streaks on the kitchen island. It's a very well-lit area which is what makes them visible. Are you kidding me? After spending a ton of money? Our fabricator said these were "mill marks" from the manufacturing process since this is manmade quartz. Now I'm stuck with flawed counters that drive me crazy daily. Stopped in to explore slabs for a remodel and they won't tell any price information; won't even tell you how to do a search for approximate quality and price per square foot. Told me to get an architect or fabricator to (look at the item and to) give me an estimate....for their product. Evidently "management" won't allow it. Horrible practices. Giant showrooms with great selection, especially of 3cm slab - a cut above the Chinese places in SODO. Another difference - they are just the slab guys. They are not vertically integrated so you need a fabricator and an installer (our contractor takes care of all of that). Showroom staff are just guys who move big rocks around with a padded forklift, so don't expect much. The secretary was friendly and welcoming but the rest of the staff is pretty hit or miss. They seemed quite impatient and in a rush to get to their bigger orders. They are definitely pricier but they do have a great selection of contemporary, modern tile. They also have a very nice showroom. I ended up buying tile for my bathroom from Statements and Pental. I had a few chipped/cracked tiles from Pental; I tried to get Pental to replace them but they refused to do anything even though it was an in-stock tile and I was only requesting to change out a couple. Unfortunately, there aren't very many vendors with a great selection of contemporary, modern tile in the area but I would definitely go to Statements over Pental. read more

We've experienced only excellent customer service at Pental. The crew on the floor who pulled slabs was friendly and knowledgeable... as well as patient, while we we looked through quite a few pieces for our home remodel (including 2 bathrooms and kitchen). And the team in the office were great helping us reserve and track the slabs we purchased (marble, quartzite, and quartz)! Key tip is to get a high-quality fabricator, through which you can reserve and purchase stone. Lastly, once you visit Pental Stone and Tile, you'll see the tremendous variety and quantity of their selection! We'll be repeat customers when we do our next project! :-) read more

My wife and I went to Pental Showroom in Seattle today to look for tiles in our master closet and happen to meet with the owner (Ravi Pental). First, the showroom has a very friendly and excellent customer service with a variety of product selection. Second, we are very grateful and thankful to Ravi who spent more than an hour with us to answer all of our questions and helping us to choose stone based on our needs. He even took us inside the gallery and gave us a quick tour. We were also amazed by his friendly and witty nature throughout his conversation with both customers and employees. We had a very positive experience with such a humble person as an owner who not only won our trust but also won our heart. I wish this world should have more people like Ravi. I had a SUPER positive experience at Pental. Fantastic selection, really knowledgeable staff. No pressure, but they are there when you need them! I'm a home owner, but the team at Pental treated me like a pro, and made me feel comfortable as I browsed. They gave me samples, and remembered me each time I came back. I believe they are one of the largest stone suppliers in the area -- the assortment was incredible -- not just the usual boring granite and tiles, but amazing soapstone, and incredible tiles. Well, 5 1/2 years later my husband and I purchased a second home and are, again, doing a high-end, studs-out kitchen remodel. After our previous experience with Pental, we really, really did not want to give them any business. We expressed these concerns to our contractor, and showed him the mock-up of our remodel (featuring lots of counter dining space and a large island), and he suggested we give Pental another try. Ugh. We made 3 different trips to Pental. Based on our experience before (of them being slammed on Saturdays), we specifically took off work to visit during the weekdays in the hopes of receiving better service. Sure enough, people were a bit friendlier than our previous visits and seemed to understand that just because you are younger doesn't mean you aren't willing to drop some serious $$ for granite. So that was an improvement. However, after our initial visit to look at the entire warehouse, a second visit to look at our top 2 selections alongside our other kitchen finishes, and a third visit by our contractor and fabricator, we were beyond disappointed to find out that they sold the slabs we had a receipt and hold on from under us. Our contractor brought in the physical form (yellow carbon copy with Pental's logo on it) and they claimed they never put a hold on those slabs. We also took a photo of these hold slips just in case something like this happened. The form included the specific granite name, the exact slab location and #s. Again, no record of it on their end. We put the hold on a Thursday and returned 3 business days later (fabricator and contractor) in the hopes of purchasing and it wasn't there, despite being told it would be safely on hold for a week or more. In fact, they didn't have that style in the warehouse anymore, meaning they had sold it sometime during that 3 day window. So now we are back at square one for our kitchen remodel and need to find another couple of slabs that match our other kitchen finishes which have already been ordered and will be delivered soon. Needless to say, we are incredibly disappointed in Pental yet again. Either they 1) deliberately sold the slabs out from under us to a preferred buyer (some of the other hidden Yelp reviews here mention that) OR 2) the salesperson working that day neglected to input that information into their computers and threw away the physical piece of paper confirming the hold, so they unknowingly sold our slabs to somebody else. Regardless of what happened, it is completely unacceptable. Lesson learned yet again - don't even bother with Pental. read more

We decided to visit this location after having a good experience at their Fife warehouse. It was on a Saturday and we were shocked at how busy it was. We could barely find any parking. We for sure expected little to no customer service due to the amount of customers they had. But, that wasn't the case at all. We were promptly helped right as we walked through the door. Sign in was easy and we were quickly escorted out to the warehouse to browse their granite selection. She took the time to explain the process and clearly communicated to us what we needed to do if we were interested in looking at a slab or placing one on hold. When we found a slab we liked, the warehouse workers took the time to move each slab out of the way so that I could look at multiple ones. Although I felt bad (being it was an extremely tedious task), they even offered to show me all of the slabs. After listening to my comments about color, depth, etc...one of the gentlemen who assisted with moving the slabs around took it upon himself to talk with the other employees in the warehouse to try and point me in the direction towards other options that fit more within the criteria I was looking for. Because of that, I was able to find one that I fell in love with!! I was able to place it on hold right then and there. They went above and beyond my expectations no matter how busy it was in there. They made us feel that we were truly important. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! read more

We've been shopping at multiple countertop places around WA and kept coming back to Pental because of their vast selection of countertops. Always had a great experience but this visit was extra great thanks to the owner, Ravi. He greeted our family and I, made us coffee and was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He and his crew took their time to help us find the perfect countertops and gave us advice on which kind to get based on how we cook and ingredients we use (since some ingredients are harder on some material than others). I don't understand why people think the staff is rude just because Pental's showroom is the best in the area! We spent almost every Saturday morning at Pental this past summer. My husband and I definitely don't dress nicely. I personally don't spend more than $20 on any single clothing item. We were remodeling a 60 year old home, not a downtown condo or anything. I never felt I was out of place at all. It was my first time to do remodeling and I had a lot of questions. The staff there always answered my questions in great details. I also met one of the owners or supervisors a few times. He is very knowledgeable and seems quite friendly and humble. We also reserved 2 slabs in the Seattle showroom, and they were sold to someone else later due to our own fault. My contractor asked me to go check out another 2 slabs in Fife. We went there after work. We were late by almost 1 hour due to the rain and bad traffic. They kept the showroom open and waited for us. We love Pental. Great looking tiles and slabs, which could be found no where else. Everybody gives us compliments on our kitchen slabs and entry way floor. Thank you Pental! read more

Pental Surfaces has wall tiles that you will not find in other showrooms. The SPLASH series is very unique. The tiles have a very subtle textured appearance that remind you of flowing water. This creates an interesting effect on a wall. The size of each tile is a surprising 4x20. Very pretty. Friendly customer service was a highlight of our shopping experience. read more

Encountered the same disrespectful attitude and condescending customer service as other reviewers while trying to remodel a bathroom. E-mailed questions were met with short, rude responses or were otherwise ignored. Going into the exchange their product was our top pick. Afterwards, we will go out of our way to avoid their stuff. What a way to run a business. I hadn't heard of Meta before coming here to see if people were had a similar Pental "experience". I'll be checking them out now. read more

I have visited Pental 3 times. I am over 45 and working with a designer. However, since I have had workmen in my home and offered to save myself time and money, I went to Pental to pick up product. I was wearing my equivalent to work clothes and I felt like a Walmart customer shopping at Bloomingdale's. No one EVER left their desk to show me products or answer my questions. I was simply told to "go through that door, you'll find lots of stuff in there". Seriously, is this the best you have to offer? Also, I have many friends and clients from India and they have told me never to do business with people from India. They are aggressive and competitive, and my friends have asked me to check with them before engaging in any business with people from India. I did not know Pental was Indian-owned. This would explain to me their unreasonable reply to the gentleman who received the wrong product due to a Pental error. I know enough to make better decisions in the future. read more

My husband and I just built a house and in the process we went to every granite retailer within a 15 mile radius of Seattle. I can definitely say that some standout more than others. Ravi and Alex at Pental are so professional and kind. They really understand all the decisions that go into picking the perfect piece of stone for your home. Talking with them is like talking with an old friend. They are courteous, genuine and not "salesy". We must have gone back to Pental half a dozen times and they always greeted us with smiles. A few years ago we bought what we were told was GRANITE. It is beautiful and we were so excited to use it in our kitchen. Come to find out that it is NOT granite. It is something called SCHIST. This is not good in a kitchen. It chips and had pieces broken off that had to be filled. When we called Pental not a single person would answer. Now I'm stuck with a counter that chips and breaks all the time. Plus I do wan to take a sink out or replace a cabinet, it could literally break in half. read more

The warehouse guys were patient with us and moved a lot of slabs around until we found the colors and pattern we were looking for. We'll see in a few weeks how it all turns out, but for choice it's hard to imagine where you could look at a better selection of beautiful slabs in one place and the service we received to date was very friendly and helpful. I had a great experience here. The warehouse is nice, clean, well organized, with a clearly marked huge selection & warm! Everyone was friendly even though I had my neurotic dog with me and chose not to get dressed up because it was pouring rain and I wanted to be comfortable - ZERO judgment here. The girls at the help counter were very helpful with questions I had on where to find a certain style and even suggested others I may like. I found Lorenzo at the front desk to be amazing. He really took his time and explained everything to me and showed me how to tell what I'm looking at, what to do when I want a sample and how to tell the price level. He helped me so much - my own fabricator's staff didn't even help me that much. He even got me a little bag for all the samples I was trying to manage to hold while keeping my crazy dog under control. Really awesome experience, will definitely buy from them. read more

Almost immediately upon installation, the "Pentalquartz" self-branded product began to stain under daily use. Ravi explained that quartz is an imperfect material but that he must cave-in to designer & builder preferences for the product. He disclosed that Pentalquartz could be stained by butter if left on too long. Their quartz is Vietnamese manufactured. Inferior to the known major brands such as Ceasarstone, Silestone, etc. Do not use Pentalquartz!!! read more

Fantastic selection! We had looked for_months_to find the right granite for our master bath remodel. Pental had the best selection of all the granite dealers we found. Great customer service! It was a pleasure to work with all of the employees of Pental. We did not meet Peter, but the "worker" we happened to ask a question of, turned out to be Ravi, Peter's brother and co-owner. He stayed with us for several hours, making sure we received what we wanted. He also ensured we got a "personal touch" which we found truly heart-warming. It was a different experience than those we had at some other showrooms we'd visited on our quest to find the perfect granite slab. We were amazed at the selection and quality of granite we saw and were grateful for the friendly and knowledgeable help provided by Aleks & JR, who moved slabs to aid our viewing and readily answered our questions. Ravi Pental is the co-owner of Pental Granite and Marble and he personally extended exceptional customer service to my wife and me in selecting stone for our remodel project. He listened to our concerns, worked with his assistant to show us multiple options and made an extremely positive impression on us. We were having some substantial problems, as tends to be common in remodeling, and went to Pental to review several new choices. Ravi was in the warehouse and personally assisted us for over an hour. The stone hasn't yet been installed but Ravi did all that he could from his end to make ours an excellent experience. The Pental warehouse is like nothing you have ever seen! I just had a wonderful experience at Pental Granite & Marble! It was my second time there. This trip was to look at the quartzite slab I had put on hold. I was helped by two men, one of them named Alexander. They were knowledgeable and eager to help. Ravi Pental came over and introduced himself. He spent a lot of time explaining the differences between materials and made sure that the customer came first. The selection is amazing! It makes me want to remodel my kitchen now. Ravi and his employees were welcoming and helpful. The showroom is large with lots of options. Ravi- the owner has a passion for his work. As an update...still no call back to me, although the owner has told my contractor to pass along the info that unless I remove my yelp review, he will get lawyers to take action against me. Did I mention no call? And his grand compromise is to take $150 off a $1300 slab of marble...that I never ordered. Amazing poor customer service. I'll tell everyone I know to run. read more

I'm so sorry, but you can't trust this place. We had a slab of granite that we put on hold, with our stone fabricator's name and information all per Pental's policy. They sold the slab out from under us, and sent an entirely different slab to the fabricator, trying to pass that off as the one we had on hold. With some granite this doesn't matter; with other types of granite the pattern can vary greatly (ours was the latter; the fabricator was shocked at how different it was from the photos I had). Pental admitted that we did have a different slab on hold than the one that was sent to the fabricator, but we were refused any concessions/discounts. OUR DESIGNER SAID THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HER CLIENTS IN A MATTER OF MONTHS. There are numerous other options out there and I would try other stone suppliers first. read more

We spent a couple of hours looking at tile before making a choice. At the end a Pental salesperson wrote down the order number for the tile we had chosen. Our contractor ordered tile using what the Pental salesperson had given us -- literally using the piece of paper that they had given us with their writing on it. It turned out that the salesperson had made a mistake in what she wrote down, and they couldn't order exactly what was written because what she wrote down didn't exist. But, nobody caught this, and instead of pushing it back to us, somewhere on their end they just ordered a different tile.than the contractor asked for. When the tile was finally delivered and the mistake was discovered, they refused to accept any responsibility at all, even though we could show them the piece of paper that the salesperson had written with the mistake. We and our contractor went for several meetings with their store manager, and I even discussed it personally with Peter Pental. He absolutely refused to do anything, no buy-back, no discount, nothing. We threatened to take him to small claims court, and he said, "go ahead". Unfortunately we decided in the end that we couldn't wait the amount of time it would take, and we wound up accepting the tile that we didn't want. read more
