Wow, what a great place! Super helpful and a great selection. If they don't carry it, they'll order it...

When the first fixture arrived last week and did not match the pictures online, I reached out to the company, both through their online form and through phone calls to their customer service, to initiate a return and to cancel my remaining two fixtures that were on pre-order. Their automated response email said someone would reach out to me within 48 hours of submitting the online form. It has now been a full business week, and despite my phoning the company's customer service twice, both after 48 hours and after one week, I learned my cancellation request still "had not been assigned to anyone," meaning it had been completely ignored. (I also haven't received the promised label for my return.) I was told today, on my third attempt to get a resolution, the cancellation request would now be assigned, but I'd have to wait four more days--the weekend plus two more business days--to know if I could cancel my pre-order. This equates to 10 business days and three follow-ups with the company simply to cancel an order that hasn't shipped, and still no actual resolution. I told the rep I wanted to speak to her supervisor to understand why this had happened and for assurances that my cancellation would indeed be processed before the remaining items were shipped and I was thus charged a 15% restock fee. She said that all she could do was put in a request for a supervisor to contact me, and that such a request takes 48 hours for a response. When I explained that my customer service experience was negatively impacting whether I'd order anything further from their company, and that there seemed to be a notable lack of accountability or resolution, she hung up on me. I'm hoping that by adding to the public record of this business's abysmal practices, I'll prevent future headaches for anyone who's been drawn to Visual Comfort by their beautiful showrooms, slick marketing, and designer collabs

The tech they sent spent an hour looking around, trying to find the problem. He said he couldn't solve it but we still got charged $411. He said he would have to send someone else. Any estimate for the job? No - he couldn't even make an estimate. When I called Adam, he said they would send a more experienced tech. Why not send someone qualified the first time? What about the charge for showing up and not doing anything? "That's our normal fee?" So, will we be charged for a new estimate? "It's still $250 to show up." Really? I told him we didn't want them anymore and we would like at least a partial refund. He agreed to a refund of $125, but the refund didn't come. I called again and he said they had a miscommunication. Now it would be sent. Still no refund ... We found a new person, a handyman - he said it was challenging, but he found the broken connection and he only charged us $250. Mirsky? Never again ...

I paid about 40% more for a tree, a one inch caliper hornbeam in a plastic pot. The tree had a little bit of leaf burn on its new growth, but I chalked that up to being root bound in a pot, so I purchased the tree. I was landscape contractor for years, I have planted hundreds of trees so I planted this tree giving it the best possible chance for survival. With regular watering the leaf burn continued to spread, even though I held off on fertilizing the tree, until it showed signs of some growth so I wouldn't burn it or shock it. Last week I pulled it out of the ground because it was completely dead, when I did there was zero root development. Anyway, I know from experience that sometimes new plants just die but when I was running a landscape construction I warranted every plant I ever sold to a customer. If a plant died within the first year, I would replace it. I could usually bring these plants back to the vendor and exchange them for a new one, but those were real nurseries like Gurneys or Molbaks. I called this nursery and explained what I've written above and they told me they couldn't help me, I even asked if they would just give me another tree and they declined. We live in a different world, where accountability and responsibility are foreign to a lot of people. I won't be going back to Urban And garden.
