The instructors are thorough, detail-oriented, personable, and take the time to listen to questions and correct incorrect techniques. All four of my instructors (Q, Dan, Steve, Matt) were excellent and helped everyone feel safe and engaged. Everything was clear and concise. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone who ends up with Ricky as an instructor. He showed little interest in helping all students succeed and seemed to single out certain individuals for constant criticism. In my case, he gave conflicting instructions -- telling me to slow down in corners, then scolding me for going too slow. When I adjusted, he said I was going too fast. Other students made similar mistakes, yet he only called me out, often in front of the group. At one point, a student dragged their foot in a sharp turn, but he said nothing. When I slightly overshot a corner after following his instructions to slow down, he pulled me aside for a harsher critique. His inconsistent feedback made me more anxious, which led to more mistakes. In the end, despite performing well on the test, I did not pass -- and it felt personal. A little pressure can be helpful, but Ricky created a stressful, unfair learning environment. If you get assigned to him, good luck. You'll need it. read more

if you are with no experience like me i wound not recommend this class. First of all they put me on broken bikes where switching gears was extremely difficult, i had to switch to three different bikes. instructors where nice very easy to understand, but the drills very short, most of the time was waisted setting up cons for drills. at the end this class is not gonna prepare u to go on road safe, u still have to get your own bike and keep practicing. when i called and explained my situation they had no sympathy. if you charge someone $420 at least use working bikes not broken one. for my opinion its waist of time and money. read more

I had Q, Dillon, Crusoe as my instructors, they were very helpful and flexible in correcting my mistakes, fixing bad riding habits that I imported with myself from my home country. I just finished this course last weekend and honestly enjoyed every minute of it outside my nervousness and the poopy weather. This was the first time doing something since I had my baby a year ago. Never rode a motorcycle but super interested for a long time. I recommend this course if you have no experience. My instructors were Q (first day), Steve (second day), and Tony (both days). I really enjoyed all the instructors I had, but especially Tony. He really boosted my confidence up even after giving me criticism. That alone was so reassuring and improved my riding skill. I really loved Tony as my instructor! The reason for a knocked off star is the bike(s) I had. I had Otis and Walter which are both Honda Rebels. They were finicky and really abused (understandably so). It was hard to know if it was me (probably) or the bike when it came to shifting, stalling, or using the throttle. It was a struggle honestly, especially where the rear brake was located. As a brand new rider, it made it difficult to improve with a bike not preforming the best. It got to a point where I felt really discouraged. But thankful Tony really helped me get better. All and all, I really recommend this place. My instructor was lovely. Think he was called Q and he's the only reason it's not a 1 star. People are trying to learn how to ride for the first time, I get that that means the bikes are abused but getting on the bike and being able to feel how abused it was, not shifting cleanly, not accelerating smoothly, they're in desperate need of replacing/looking after. The shifter fell off mine right as we started the assessment, I had to switch off with another guy who had the same model but the bike felt completely different. It's a miracle I didn't fail. If I had my own bike, it would have been great. Their bikes are rubbish. The sport bikes looked to be newer/in better shape. read more

Decided to chase my high school/college aspiration of riding a motorcycle as a 30 something year-old. Signed up for this course and joined up with a packed class of eager beginners and existing riders. There were a few in-class sessions that was well-taught and covered all the basics needed to stay safe on the road. Then, we had the actual riding sessions in a safe, closed school yard. The bikes were provided, as well as the helmets. We just had to bring our own riding gloves and boots. If you can ride a bicycle, you can definitely get on one of the 250cc bikes they provide and do well. There was 1 student who didn't know how to ride at all and he actually dropped the bike and decided right then and there that the timing wasn't right for him to take the course - he dropped out that day. For the rest of us, we did as we were told and everyone did well. There is a written exam which was straight forward as long as you just read the material. The final riding practical wasn't too bad. I missed a few cones as my bike had a bit of a jerky throttle in 1st gear - thought I blew it. But, I did well on all the other sections and passed. This course is a must if you're new to riding. I would say 90-100% of this course can be passed if you are a very experienced bicycle rider. if you have never ridden a bike ever and aren't physically strong (to hold up the motorcycle). Then i would pass on this course. I already saw someone, whom dropped the bike either voluntarily quit or was pulled to the side to let them know they aren't ready. i have no idea, but I would be disappointed to join this class for the M1 and have to go back to the drawing board. There are definitely a couple of individuals in my group that should never think about driving on the street until they have had many more hours/weeks of practice on a parking lot. I have already been riding a moped (170cc) for 2+ yearsand I am able to get through it but am far from perfect. read more

This was one of the best experiences of my life. I credit this all to the AMAZING instructors. A huge shout-out to Dillan, Q, and Tony. These three were all A+ humans and can't say enough great things about them. They were all very clearly passionate about teaching and making the training (even the zoom calls!) very fun and engaging. After a scooter accident abroad, I was afraid to get on a motorcycle. Tony, Dillan and Q were all incredibly supportive and made sure I was comfortable, but also challenged myself. Above all, they are excellent instructors and you can tell that they care about EVERY one of their students. This is an honest review. I passed my written with 84% and the skills test with "flying colors". It's my first time ever driving a motorcycle. The reason for such low stars is because this is NOT basics at all and the way it was taught is it's either you keep up with the pact or you FAIL. 8 hours - 2 hours of breaks = 6 hours of actual driving time. 4 hours on the first day of class + 2 hours of class on the second day + 1 hour (written test) = 6 hours of actual class. That's a total of 12 hours. Mostly class and only 6 hours of actual driving time and due to having a class full, it's not like you're driving all the time. You take turns. 1st day of class. Instructor: Ken Ken taught more about gear than any other topic! He also called me out because I was on my phone trying to google what the hell "upshifting" was. Yes, they don't explain in details. The class doesn't even explain how gears work. Why is it 1st, Neutral 2nd, 3rd +. You can't use your phone in class (wtf? I paid for this class) 2nd day of class. Instructor: lady (super nice and friendly!!, she deserves all the credit!) and Greg (think) just wanted to get the class done, didn't have any patience and looked like he just wanted to go back to sleep. The lady (I forgot her name) was really helpful. The key to not stalling is finding the friction zone which was something you would have to have a "feel for" showed me that you can rev as high as you want but if the clutch is disengaged the bike won't move. Find the friction zone, don't be scared to rev the throttle, then slowly gain speed and let go of the clutch! Sad news. She only taught this detail to me so I wished they showed more as group rather than just following what they say and expect to understand it. It's either they fail you in purpose or do this course quickly so that you can apply and pay $75 more when you fail or they just suck. I'm dumb in the books but I learn fast when someone actually demonstrates on how it's done. You cannot pass this class unless you have prior driving experience. They expect you to know the road rules. Anyway, take care of your students. It's not them, it's you. read more

In the two days of class, I watched a bunch of people go from no riding experience to being able to downshift and swerve to avoid accidents. I took the course this weekend and I learned sooooo much. I've never driven a motorcycle or even ridden a bike honestly and I went from knowing absolutely nothing to riding around shifting and making turns in just two days. I can't even drive a stick shift car lol. Kyle and Isaac are great teachers and they use a lot of positive reinforcement. They don't just tell you what you're doing wrong they also tell you what you're doing right which is a great confidence builder. It's okay if you fall too I fell and they don't care about the bikes getting dropped they just make sure that you're safe and okay. You have 2 classroom sessions where they focus on making you a smarter rider, then you have 2 riding session where they focus on taking what you were taught in the classroom and putting it into action. I am a complete beginner when it comes to bikes. But if I knew there was a class out there like PMT, I would have jumped on a bike a long time ago. All of the instructors are incredible. They make the classes enjoyable and comfortable while maintaining structure and delivering a wealth of knowledge. It seems like they have all been in the game for a while. I'm a returning rider and have not gotten on a bike in over 30 years and I learned a lot in this course, both skill wise and knowledge base. After my Dad handed me down his BMW R 1150 GS I needed a school to get me ready for the diverse roads and terrain northern California has to offer. I heard great things about this school so I gave them a try. I was initially nervous about what to expect but the amazing instructor quickly put myself and the group at ease. Before we new it we were all feeling like a team and really enjoying the experience. Its been a few months now since the training and I am so glad i took it. This was an amazing learning experience and a great start to my journey as a motorcycle rider. I took the class in South San Francisco with Ken as my main instructor. He made sure the class was both entertaining and informational by tying the lessons in the class back to real life with his 30+ years of riding experience. The riding section of the class was well structured to make sure everyone had a chance to learn at their own pace while not holding others back. As expected, the bikes had definitely seen their fair share of drops, but no one in my class had any mechanical issues of any kind. I highly recommend this school, but if you take it in South San Francisco, be sure to add an extra layer as the wind never stops blowing! My only regret is that I didn't get Ken's information to let him know I was interested in doing a class ride once we all got our licenses and bikes! read more

I didn't know what to expect. I really didn't realize how much I would learn. I think all of us who rode motorcycles growing up are prone to think a class is just a formality. In truth I learned a dozen things... things that I gained progress on and likely still will need to practice. I really appreciated the instructors pulling us out of our riding the course in real time to give us very specific suggestions on where each one of us could improve. The repetition paired with instant feedback was phenomenal. I will be looking into intermediate and advanced classes after a couple months of practicing what I learned. Great class! Took the basic class with my brother and learned how to ride with no experience. It consists of a lecture part that was taught by a good instructor which made the class very interesting to learn and a riding part that was amazingly fun! Taking the basic class waives you the DMV riding skills test and all of the people in my class passed! The knowledge learned here will definitely help me greatly when I ride in the future. I've search far and wide for many MSF courses. I've never sat on a motorcycle let alone ridden one. The entire course was just amazing and helpful beyond words. Are teacher Craig was extremely patient even when met with some hard headed students. He handled himself like a pro. All the instructors were simply amazing. Ken did stand out from them all due to his instant fearless feedback.Everything in the course serves a purpose for when you get out on the road as it should.
