I saw Dr shiva ahmadi. By far the worst doctors I've ever seen . 1- she doesn't listen to you or retain ANY information you tell her so every time you see her she doesn't remember or even take notes or review notes from before so it's like she knows NOTHING about you each time you talk to her and have to explain things all over again endlessly with her 2- instead of listening and retaining ANYTHING you tell her about what you are and aren't comfortable with - instead she's just anxious to keep pushing certain medications on you as if maybe she's getting a kickback from them because she keeps pushing and suggesting the same ones over and over again even when you tell her over and over that you're uncomfortable with that medication or type of medication and even had bad reactions in the past from it and yer each time you speak to her she will continue to push it each time anyhow as if she doesn't remember you telling her no and why two weeks prior 3- she would keep telling me false information and her personal opinions on medication I was on or prescribed by my other primary doctors and trying to blame those or make me scared or paranoid on those medications making me scared and confused and worried then have to go back to those doctors and then they confirm what shiva is saying is false and to continue my medication needed to help me get healthy and better 4- she clearly just sits there and pushes her wrong opinions on you for the 15 min appt and doesn't care what you say or feel during the appt 5- Everytime I spoke to her I felt worse then before I saw her 6- she gave me one medication that I told her I had in the past that helped me , she gave me 10 pills 70 days ago and I still have 2 left . Each time that I spoke with her on each one of my appointments she offered me a refill, but I told her I didn't need one at that time because I still had some left. But when I notified them that I wanted to change Doctors because I was not comfortable with her they told me I could still get a refill since I was down to only two and I would need them and I couldn't see the new doctor for a month. So I called and asked for a few more just to make sure I had them so I can take them "as needed" or just have them in case I need them until I see the next doctor and even though she offered me refills several times she denied giving me a refill once she knew that I wasn't going to use her anymore and told me to just go ahead and go to the emergency room if I needed help. When she knows very well that the emergency room is not necessary for panic attacks. But the medication helps. It was basically her FU to me and retaliatory. Because she was mad that I was not going to want to use her anymore so she has decided that she was not going to give me a refill and basically told me to F off and go to the hospital if I needed help. Mind you that in 74 days of having the medication I only took eight. But she basically treated me as if I was some sort of pill seeker that just wanted more and more pills. When really in reality she knows very well that I'm just trying to make sure that I don't have to go to the hospital every single day and spend thousands of dollars at the hospital for panic attack attacks. We had a very frustrating and disappointing experience today. My young son requires regular medication, and we had a scheduled call that was important to his care. The staff member we were supposed to speak with logged in late (this has happened before). After waiting about 10 minutes, I logged out and back in. During that brief window, she apparently joined, and shortly after, another staff member left a message saying we had left the call and that the appointment could no longer happen. In total, we wasted close to 30 minutes, only to be told there was nothing they could do. When I expressed frustration (which I think is completely reasonable given the circumstances) I was told to "calm down." That response was dismissive and inappropriate, especially when a child's medical needs are involved. Missed appointments, poor communication, and condescending responses are not acceptable in a setting like this. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this business. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I would not recommend this place because they do not have SEASONED DOCTORS to treat you. They mainly use nurse practitioners who just deal out whatever meds the pharm reps are pushing. My tele-health visits have just turned into 5 min phone calls, and it basically feels like I am talking to the pharmacist at cvs for a refill and that's it. They are Very disorganized and have unprofessional/inexperienced management and front desk staff. After a week long crisis, I called an emailed for help, and received zero response! I was left to deal with the crisis on my own and unable to get ahold of my provider, or even have success in delivering them a message! Today, after the weekend, i called and waited on hold, call, repeat, wait on hold. I am being forced to do this for ONE HOUR now because I cannot even leave a message in their voicemail box because their voicemail box is FULL! WHO is running this place?! As a medical facility, it is unethical for their voicemail box to be full where patients/providers cant leave messages! I own a business too. I have ONE receptionist (not four like PNS does) and my girl would NEVER be allowed to not return voice messages or not clear our inbox. In fact this would never happen at my establishment because I stay on top of my employees and check their work/workload daily to make SURE there are no loose ends. The list of mistakes that this corporation has made is unbelievable. They have messed up majority of my appointments. Giving me the wrong time, date, or even location. Charged me randomly. Assigned me to a provider after I made it conditional that I need to be seen by a female. i've been going here for seven months. About every two weeks and they still can't get me the medication I need. My first visit with Dr. aliya went terribly. Long story short he had an ego and was not empathetic. I contacted Pacific neuropsychiatric to transfer me over to a female provider like I specified the first time and that I was very unhappy with how my visit with Dr. Alula went. Dr. aliya himself ended up calling me back and told me if I don't go to him that I can't have anyone there and would have to go somewhere else. As a patient that talked about very personal and traumatic experiences/diagnosis and was only looking for help with my health. This is very unacceptable. I feel like Pacific Neropsychiatric hung me out to dry. I would not recommend anyone to go here. The only reason I kept going is because they get you in quick and you can get an appointment basically the next day. I knew why I just saw the first experience! I just thought it would get better. My treatment while it took place was great, but after it was over, the true colors of this facility were brought to light. Save yourself the stress and find somewhere that will be upfront and honest with you. I did a treatment with this place, who told me it would be x amount of money, which was a signed payment agreement. After the treatment was done, I was sent a hefty bill of $400 that wasn't supposed to be charged. I'm not sure what took place between this provider and my health insurance, but I'm the one who suffered the consequences. No need for a patient to be punished and pay for their mistake. I am extremely disappointed in PNS and its support team. I recently went through a major life change and needed to adjust my medications. My provider was excellent--helpful, understanding, and met with me every two weeks to guide me through the process. Unfortunately, the support team at PNS has been the complete opposite. They lack follow-through and seem incapable of assisting patients after the provider has done their part. I have been receiving behavioral health care since childhood, and when I moved to California from New York two years ago, I chose PNS as my new provider. The last four months, however, have been the worst medical follow-through I have ever experienced. I don't know what changed within this organization, but based on my recent experience, I would not recommend them. If you're looking for consistent and reliable behavioral health care, I strongly suggest seeking treatment elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately these other bad reviews are completely accurate. This office was recommended therefore I ignored some of the negative reviews on here. My first visit was mostly uneventful, the front desk staff was a bit off putting, but not to me personally so ignored them. The health care provider I saw was friendly, and helpful. I was waiting on some test results, and never heard back. After forgetting about it for several months (and not hearing back), I reached out to make an appointment to go over the results. At this time they disclosed that the provider I saw was no longer with them. That was alarming, that one they never got back to me on test results, and secondly they didn't tell me that the provider no longer worked there?! They were able to schedule me a follow up appointment. The day of the appointment they called me to tell me that the provider I was scheduled with was not covered by my insurance. I have no idea how this happened as they had all my insurance information already, but went along with having to reschedule the appointment. 4 days later, I get another call telling me once again the appointment that was rescheduled due to being with a provider that my insurance didn't cover, was also with another provider that insurance didn't cover. I understand maybe... this mistake happening once. But for this exact same mistake to happen twice within a week is unacceptable. Add this to the fact they never called with test results, or that the provider no longer worked fully shows what type of practice this is. Others have left almost identical reviews, which shows this is a serious issue here. The importance of mental health and medical services to patients cannot be understated, therefore I recommend stay far away from this place. read more

Again, 4th time, I waited for my appointment, without refills, for a month and a half, and she, Larissa, cancelled at the last minute (within 24hours of my appointment, which I scheduled several things around. This is the 4th cancellation within a day of my appointment. This is also the 5th therapist I have been seen by, all of whom do not know my medical history. The first appointment was rescheduled to two weeks later, even though I booked it a month in advance, and now they want to move it another month. I was charged for treatment that were not accurate to the care I received, later told I could dispute said charges, and then was told there was nothing they could do and had to pay for services I didn't get. I chose my specific provider based on what was shown they specialize in, only to find out they don't specialize in that! Medication management was handled incorrectly for a YEAR, and the only reason I know that is because I switched to a provider that actually knew what they were doing. I am concerned about the need to address this seemingly simple problem. Televisit appointments have made a tremendous difference in handling routine basic follow-up care and evaluation of on going patients. The whole process has been made much more efficient through telemedicine appointments. I have been a patient through PNS for over 5 years. Their commitment to patient care has been nothing short of exemplary. From the doctors to the supporting staff it's been an honor to be their patient. Until these Past few months I can tell something has changed, an element of personal commitment to a patients well-being or service has been taken out or changed over. I'll try to explain this as quickly and easily as I can. Now if you miss your telemedicine appointment it must be rescheduled, however whenever that takes place it's rescheduled two weeks or even 1month later ? In the years before telemedicine a reschedule was done within a week or less ? How is this possible ? A telemedicine appointment is handled within 5-10min ?, Sometimes 2-3min. Why do I have to wait 4weeks to reschedule a 5min phone call ? Something does not make sense here. This is the first time I've ever had to give a negative review. Weather it's an organizational issue or a personal scheduling issue it's very inconvenient to reschedule an appointment. Absolute scam - find any other psychiatric office! I visited the Costa Mesa office in January of 2023 twice (paid a copay both times) and got a bill for nearly $400 in October of 2023 - 10 months later! After speaking with their billing phone line, I was told my insurance charged a deductible - for what I have no idea! I called their front desk office, and they admitted they didn't know why I was being charged a deductible and then rerouted me back to billing. You will never get through to these people, so if you want to be charged hundreds for absolutely no services provided, look no further! My two appointments were initially for medication management with a PA - not even a real psychiatrist - after which they tried to put me on a new medication even though I had been taking my existing medication for 8 years. Let me begin by saying how difficult it has been since my 90 year old mother was admitted to the Mental Health Unit at St Joseph's Hospital in Orange. Mom was there for two weeks, and when discharged, someone there scheduled an appointment with a Dr Peterson at the Tustin Ave office. I received a text confirming the appointment, and two days prior, someone from the office called and requested insurance information, which I provided. The day of the appointment, my mother's caretaker called me from the office and said that additional medication and personal history (reason for the visit) were needed. I did not make the appointment, and since nothing additional was requested, I assumed that Mom's doctor or the hospital provided the information. I asked to speak to the doctor, and while I was prepared to read mom's meds to him, I questioned why they had not gotten this information prior to the appointment. Dr Peterson was incredibly rude and insulting, even going so far as to say "What kind of daughter are you?" I was shocked by his response. I then started to list some of Mom's meds that I knew from memory, and he continued to berate me for not knowing the doses. This man calls himself a doctor. I called the office and asked. that they document in her charts that they had not requested any of the additional information, and I asked that they follow the thread to see exactly who made the initial appointment, I can only quess it was the hospital social worker. All of this is relatively new to me. I am not on meds, and I only recently began taking mom to appointments. I care deeply for my mother, and not only was I insulted by this Peterson fellow, but I was hurt. He is in the wrong profession. I plan to make a formal complaint. read more

PLEASE HELP! MY PROVIDER CHANGED WITHOUT MY CONSENT! I am an existing patient and have been seeing Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists since March 2021. My insurance fully covers all my appointments with any provider that is "In Network". From March to June 2021, my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) showed Alejandro Alva as my Provider, who is "In Network" with my insurance. I did NOT have to pay any charges out of pocket. However, in July 2021, my EOB showed the provider as Gustavo Alva, who is "Out of Network" with my insurance. The EOB showed that I owed $290 for that month!!! I was NEVER contacted or consulted by Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists about my provider being changed from one that was "In Network" to one that is "Out of Network". My appointments have been going as normal without ANY mention of the provider being changed or switched! Had I been contacted about the change, I would have cancelled the appointment and any future appointments with Neuropsychiatric Specialists. I would like to have listed Provider for the billing from July 2021 be changed from Gustavo Alva to Alejandro Alva, or for the practice to file a corrected claim. In my opinion, I should not be penalized or punished or forced to pay for the appointment in July since I never opted to change my provider and was NEVER contacted about it. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars i would. As a mom with a child needing guidance and assistance this place is horrible. I originally made an appointment in September only to be canceled a month later due to provider not taking my insurance, Mind you we have PPO. Then to wait an additional month being canceled day of because provider was no longer available. That leaves us to today, third appointment scheduled, three months later. Only to have my in person appoint for my daughter, which I was specific we wanted, changed to tele-health. Which that was a nightmare in itself. The tele-health was confusing and misleading leading us to wait in the wrong page completely missing our time slot and of course not being able to be seen. This experience has been so frustrating and damaging. Not only delaying the care of my daughter but a complete waste of time and treatment my daughter could have been receiving. I have been seen by pacific neurophychiatrics for years personally by phychiatric Andrew. I am bi polar have ADHD ,depression ,social anxiety ,depression.Only an experienced phychiatric can handle my conditions ,not even the county mental health can properly treat or understand what I am going through. From the front office where they don't judge or repremand you if you start going manic as in cracking jokes,making comments or going outside to get some air as you wait for your phychiatric they don't make you feel bad, they understand and it means a lot to be able to see the phychiatric successfully with out getting kicked out or eyeballed .they just don't give you medication they review what you have talen, and ask you how it has made you feel and based on the docs assessment they work with you based on how it is working for you. They are like therapists being of human compassion which helps me take the medication even more because they (he) perfectly accurately diagnosed my conditions and how I act and why I act the way I do whare it left me speechless and gave me more motivation to take my medication. Knowing that it will help my abnormal actions . Perfect place for all ages including adults(me) with mental health issues. This is the no judge zone.they even help with social services if social services requests a form of care. I can only speak for the care that I have received from the #1 doctor Andrew who has surpassed all the. Phychiatrics I have seen in my life from private phychiatrics to multiply county mental health phycyiatrics which has been more then 8. The office was extremely quick at transferring patients to online video appointments during the coronavirus pandemic, so we didn't experience an interruption in our medication. My experience was similar to Dayne O.'s review. I was referred to see Dr. Sheena Patel but when I arrived I was told I'd be seeing Alexander M. OhhhK, whatever. Unfortunately, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. He wasn't rude, per se, but there was definitely something off in his demeanor. Seemed to me as though he hated his job and was nothing more than a glorified drug dealer. Very impersonal. I felt like a faceless number in a vast sea of clients. "Here are your pills, next," "Here are your pills, next," "Here are your pills, next," --so I guess it makes sense why he looks so miserable. Anyway, my insurance followed up with me and asked how my appointment went. I told them everything and they said I could file a grievance if I wanted but I said no. I just canceled my appointment and will not be returning. Which reminds me, the ladies in the office were very nice but like Dayne mentioned in his review, it's a bit hard to get ahold of a live person. Most of the time I called it would go straight to voicemail but I eventually managed to speak with someone to confirm the cancellation of my appointment. I have nothing against Alex or PNSOC.
