With so many different optometry services in Bellevue, it can be difficult to choose where to go. But I decided to switch over to The Eyecare Center due to its convenient location and positive reviews, which I stand by. It's very easy to make an appointment online, which is a big factor for any kind of health care services. I've been in situations where I've had to wait forever to get an appointment and/or could only schedule an appointment with someone on the phone, which can be difficult since my schedule is very busy. For me to schedule it myself, it's very easy to do online as I can plan out and also, easily cancel when need be. The Eyecare Center also takes VSP insurance. The Eyecare Center is located near the Bellevue Botanical Garden in the Wilburton neighborhood, and is right off of NE 8th street, which is easy to get to, with plenty of parking in the private lot. There's also the B line bus stop right in front of it, making it accessible for all. Staff are always friendly and I always see the same eye doctor. The annual exam takes about an hour with the usual eye tests, dilation, etc. They do also sell eyewear here. No complaints about The Eyecare Center.

Beautiful facility, and the ladies were nice, but after getting my eyes check on various machines, it all went downhill from there. My appointment was at 2:00 and we got started a little before that. We got through the eye tests, pictures, numbing the eye and dilating by 2:30. The woman said,"The doctor will be in to go over everything with you" and then we were left sitting in the room waiting and watching a couple videos. At 3:00, a woman moved us to a 2nd room stating,"should only be a few minutes." My feeling is they moved us just so they could use the first room we were in to put someone else to wait. It was like waiting in line for a ride in Disney World. Just when you think the line is moving, you wait standing at the new place in line. At 3:30, I went out to the hall/ office area to ask what's going on and one woman said said, "He's running behind" Yup, we see that. Another woman said, "You should be next". I should have been next an hour ago. Not one person said, "I'm sorry this is taking so long" or "The doctor is running behind." I only got told, "It will be a few minutes" when we were put in the 2nd room at 3:00. When I went to talk with them, I was told, "You should be next." I was offered a water, but at that point I just wanted the doctor to come in and talk with me. I went back in the room and waited 25 more minutes. 3:55- we got up and left. I didn't say a word and simply left the folder of information they gave me on the desk. I was dilated so I couldn't drive with the sun shining off the wet pavement. I was dilated and numbed up for no reason. At a minimum of $11,000 for new lenses, I'll find somewhere else to go. I'm sure they aren't the only ones that do this and I won't spend that much to wait nearly 2 hours past my appointment time. The icing on the cake was being sent the following message before I was gone 5 minutes. I'm sure this is sent after everyone checks out. The staff goes out of the way to make ever visit the best. I have called up to try different contacts and they have let me try different lenses for over a month before purchasing, that is customer service. Dr Kitamura has taken care of me for the last 8 years. She is the best, very good at performing exams and maintaining eye health. It may be difficult to get on her schedule but she is worth the wait. I have made another friend here, Kimberly, she has made every silly request I have made an accomplishment and she never fails. The billing department is also very efficient and accommodating. They used to have a location in Kirkland which is close to home but now I travel a short distance to Bellevue. They office there is bright, clean and comfortable.
