I had an appointment at 10:30 AM at the Bellevue office today. I arrived on time and had previously confirmed my appointment after receiving multiple reminder texts emphasizing punctuality and a $75 no-show fee for cancellations within 24 hours. However, it was 11:30 AM and I still had not been seen by the doctor. I had clearly informed the front desk that I needed to leave by 11:30, yet there was no meaningful update or accommodation. If a practice expects patients to strictly honor appointment times and threatens financial penalties for delays or cancellations, there should be the same level of respect for patients' time. Communication about delays and better schedule management would go a long way. I understand that medical offices can run behind occasionally, but a full hour without being seen -- especially after stressing punctuality in reminder messages -- is not acceptable. I hope Overlake EyeCare takes patient time as seriously as it expects patients to take theirs. read more

I went to Dr Coday for a persistent stye that just wouldn't go away, needless to say it was driving me crazy, I decided I wanted to have it lanced and she was able to do it the same day because there was a cancellation. She is very warm and caring and definitely listens to her patients. she described what was going to happen so you were not surprised by anything. The procedure is definitely not fun, but she makes sure you are comfortable the whole way through. if you are looking for an opthamologist, she is excellent! read more

Very disappointed with my doctor visit and also with the administrative process. I was referred to a doctor here for cataract surgery, and before even meeting them I was put through a lengthy and protracted eye exam, about 1 1/2 hours. I had hoped I'd be able to meet the doctor first to ask questions and get to know them better. Then I had to wait another 30 minutes in an exam room for the doctor. When they arrived, they marched directly to the computer without saying "hello" or introducing themselves. Just started typing up something. At no point did they even make eye contact (how ironic). Immediately wanted to get me scheduled for surgery. I had no time to discuss much with the doctor and at that point I didn't know enough to ask. Suddenly an assistant comes in and starts making future appointments including one for surgery. Once home and upon further reflection, I realized I had felt rushed and did not like my experience so I called to cancel all my appointments. I asked the admin to send me a cancellation confirmation which they said they "couldn't do." I asked them to at least verbally confirm all the cancellations and they did. However today I received a phone call wanting to know why I hadn't come in for my pre-surgery appointment and that I had surgery coming up soon! This place is a mess and the doctor I saw had no beside manner whatsoever. Obviously I can't recommend this practice. read more

The doctors and office are great, however some of the front desk staff needs to be fired. They are extremely rude when trying to figure out accommodations for people with disabilities and on top of that we have been trying for months to get them to order the correct contacts. Every single time though they have have managed to screw it up even with the prescription written exactly in front of them. If you go here, you absolutely must check what they order DOWN TO THE LETTER and NUMBERS before you walk out the door because they cannot do it correctly. Every time they fail at their job my partner and I have to take off work to drive to the office to return the wrong contacts. read more

We went here because it had gotten some good reviews but unfortunately that was not our experience. We saw Dr. Chung two times. The front office was ok with the check in process. Took our money then had us waiting in the lobby for 15-20 minute. The second visit, the assistant ask how the new glasses were working (~5 minutes of time) then informed us the doctor will be in shortly. By "shortly", it was another 30 minute. Dr. Chung thanked us for waiting but didn't apologize or explain that he fell behind or anything. He spent 5 minutes with us asking if the glasses were working out. That's it. They spend a lot of effort to text and leave voicemail for the patient to not miss thir appointment or there would be a $75 charge but both times, they were not mindful of the patient's time. We were early both visits but the ratio of seeing the professional vs waiting without any explanation (10 minutes facetime vs 50 minutes of wait time) was terrible mismanagement and bedside manners. Sadly, this place has really gone downhill. I referred my partner here in August 2023 and we both went in for routine eye exams and prescription renewals for our eye glasses and contact lenses. I don't have vision insurance and paid for my services 100% out of pocket in full which was about $400. I noticed at the time that the service was extremely slow compared to prior years. 9 months later I just received a bill in the mail for an additional $90 from my August 2023 appointment. It is now May 2024. I called the office and a representative really gave me no explanation other than I needed to pay it as it was for my contact lens prescription. Why am I being billed for this 9 months later? Clearly someone there dropped the ball. The representative told me that sometimes billing and insurance takes a while. I had to remind her that I don't have insurance and paid for this again entirely out of pocket. (Note: I left a very detailed voicemail asking them to look into my billing and what happened with my account 5 hours before receiving a call back). I feel that clearly this was a (very embarrassing) error on their part. They should have either waived this, or taken the extra step of calling or emailing me prior to issuing the bill to explain what happened and apologize. This is just so tacky. I won't be returning here or referring anymore business to this office. They are very disorganized and not being managed properly. I no longer trust them. If you're reading this, just go elsewhere. read more

I'd give MINUS 5* for Dr. Adam Smith. I called Overlake Eye Care to schedule appointment with ophthalmologist. However, I was told that I have to see optometrist first. At that time, I was asked whether I will be ordering glasses (the prescription is additional $60). I said that I'll make my decision later, depending on doctor's findings. Nevertheless, I was asked this same question 2 more times. Not only this appointment wasn't necessary, it was a total disaster. To make some use of this visit, I asked doctor's opinion regarding having glaucoma procedure. He was talking all the time about everything that I already new and wasn't interested. And yes, I was asked about ordering glasses 3 more times. I had to ask for his permission to speak when I had something to say. He disappeared in the middle of the appointment for about 15 minutes to see another patient. When he got back, he continued to talk nonstop. When I finally managed to ask his opinion regarding my glaucoma procedure, he said he doesn't know. Total lack of professionalism and respect for patients. read more

Regarding Dr. Coday: Dr. Coday did my cataract surgery and there were complications. When I tried to contact her, she didn't respond. I had to return to my eye doctor to evaluate the problem. When I went back to Dr. Coday for a follow up appointment, I asked her about her lack of response when I was having problems. She said she just been very busy! That was it. No apology, explanation, etc. I would definitely recommend finding another surgeon for cataract surgery. read more

This is an update to my 2018 review. Subsequent to that time, this place has really gone downhill. My doctor (Dr. Bopari) whom I had been seeing for years, has left. The front desk needs help in many ways primarily their service and attitudes. Also, I don't know if the same vendor is operating the distribution of glasses and contacts but if it is - it is one of the reasons I stopped doing to Overlake Eyecare. I had a new prescription but kept a pair of frames I own to fill it. In all fairness, I was late in picking them up; however, I never received a notification that they were ready which the former vendor did all the time. I waited over half hour while these people looked for my glasses. They even had to pull someone from the front desk to help them look!! Finally the glasses were found and the woman who brought them to me said she was going to keep them if no one ever came in to claim them!! Also, this new vendor stated the previous vendor got numerous prescriptions but never filled them. Really? My experience with the previous vendor was 5 stars. Very helpful, knowledgeable in fitting glasses, etc. I find it hard to believe that those people decided not to fill the prescriptions and that is why the new vendor is having so much trouble finding everything. If I could give no stars, I sure would. I made an appointment here because I was referred to Dr. Harry Boparai, who is a dry eye specialist. My regular ophthalmologist highly recommended I see him for my severe dry eyes. I waited three weeks for my appointment, and then was told the day before my appointment with the doctor that he was no longer Practicing at that office. It was so impossible to get in touch with anyone there. I called six times and three separate days and no one has ever answered the front desk's phone. I finally went into the office to get answers. The staff absolutely refused to tell me where Dr. Boparai was practicing now. BTW, a quick Google search for him reveals that he is practicing just down the street at Airis Eye. Best part is the receptionist claimed. They never answer the phones because they are extremely busy, but when I was there, it was empty with no phones ringing. read more

I shared my extremely unpleasant billing experience with Overlake Eyecare on Google - we received wrong billing for our preventative wellness check that they submitted as an office visit. In order not to pay the bill that I did not share responsibility with, I called the billing office more than five times with no proper feedback. The billing is completely outsourced. The owner, reading my Google review, lied about my experience without even knowing who the patient was. Just to be clear: I do understand 100% my medical insurance. I ran out of eyelid cleanser and dry eye heat pack liners in December. I am new to the area and have no eye doctor here. A woman sold these items to me and I went on my way. Last week, I came back to buy more eyelid cleanser. A different woman was there. She handed me the bottle, took my $20 cash, and as I was turning to leave she says "Wait I need your date of birth." Sorry to say but Overlake Eye care staff is completely unprofessional and rude. They have unfair billing practice and force me to pay for some care that I never came in for. FYI - Dr. Sandhu as a doctor is good, and I feel she does try to help out patients but below experience is based on the wrong billing/unfair practice and rude staff. Here are the details : I checked with Dr. Joshlene Sandhu last December for annual check and she gave me a lower prescription than my existing with reason that my existing one is too high. After wearing glasses for 15-20 days, I realized that lower prescription doesn't suit me, so I went back to Bellevue office and luckily Dr.Sandhu was there at reception desk and when I told her about it, she immediately increased my prescription by little bit and asked me to get my glasses reordered and again try it out for a month or two (not just 15 days). So I did the same. They had somehow scheduled me for a follow up checkup after 2 months, and when I asked them I had no clue about the appointment, they said that I have to come back for follow-up because otherwise I will be charged cancelation fees. Plus Dr.Sandhu wants to check with me if new prescription worked for me. So I came in for follow-up in May. After a month, I receives an insurance bill for $120 saying that Dr.Sandhu treated me for a medical care (not vision care) and that the patient came in for headache. This is completely wrong since I never came in for headache and I was never told that I will be billed for medical service instead of vision check. I asked multiple times during my follow-up check if I will be charged for this, every-time they said no because this is a follow-up (and they are not doing vision exam) so its covered under the previous annual checkup. Every week for last 5 weeks, I have been calling their office asking them to rectify their mistake in billing (it should have been billed as vision follow-up and not medical and certainly not headache) and every-time they tell Dr. Sandhu will give me a call back but I have never received it yet. Today when I called in again, the staff told me rudely that I should not have come in for follow-up even if Doctor asks me to come back, because otherwise I will be charged. Infact she just hung up the phone. That's contrary to medical professionalism and unfair to patient care. Also she said that Overlake Eyecare is a medical facility and not eye care facility. If I could give zero stars I would because this doctor gave me zero fox. Dr. Elizabeth not only misdiagnosed my dread disease as Glaucoma, but she shooed me out because her peer showed up for a meeting, not fully answering my questions because she was DONE and so sure of her diagnosis. I am only alive today because I did not follow her recommendations to check back in six months and instead, got right in to see Dr. Michael Gilbert a fine and thorough opthalmologist who saved my life and even though he could not see the tumor, referred me to a specialist that could. Dr. Coday and Dr. Boparai are wonderful -- helpful, caring, knowledgeable, and competent. Dr. Coday has gone above and beyond to help a relative on several occasions. Most of the front desk staff members are also great, especially Riley. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that their billing department is prone to double billing for the same service -- you can pay for a service, prove that you've paid, and they will still send you a bill. Good luck getting an explanation (the person I spoke with was less than helpful, bordering on rude), other than there's a "glitch in the system." read more

I could not purchase the contacts that I needed on the spot since they needed to double check my insurance. They said they would call back but never got a call. I've been a patient of this establishment for several years. Last year, we were on vacation in Oregon when suddenly, one of my eyes half filled up with Blood. I tried calling the office, to no avail since the person who answered the phone couldn't help me but said I would get a call back. I didn't. I sent an email using their site and sent a photo of my eye, no response - ever! The next time I visited for my regular followup, I explained what had happened and Dr Coday just said, yea, we've been having trouble. This weekend I started getting an annoying feeling in my left eye. I tried using drops for a couple of days but the pain was getting worse and my eyelid was turning red. I called the office, explained my problem and the young man said the earliest they could see my was October 9th!!! I explained that the pain was getting worse and I needed to see someone now. He put me on hold and eventually got back claiming that he couldn't get hold of the person he needed to talk to but that someone would get back to me. It's now the middle of the next day (more than 24hrs later) and still no one has responded. As an alternative, I contacted my Primary Care Physician, sent a photo of the white pimple inside my eyelid and his nurse diagnosed it as a sty and said to use warm compresses. Fortunately, it has started to clear up; no thanks to Overlake Eye "We Don't CARE About You". I am done with this operation and will find a professional eye care operation elsewhere. read more

Very disappointing and unprofessional experience I recently experienced with Overlake Eye Care, where I have gone for the last 20 years. I have been followed by Dr. Bosland (original principal) to Dr's. Barry, Prothero and lastly Dr. Boparai. I went to the clinic for a 6-month Glacoma follow-up on Aug. 26th and found the clinic was closed for an administrative day. Upon entering I was told I had no appt and had been notified. I told the front desk that I had not been notified of the appt. cancellation via text or otherwise and also was told Dr. Boparai was no longer there, which they said communication was sent out that I never received. I reached out to 2 other family members, both in different households, that have gone to this clinic for over 20 years and they were not advised that Dr. Boparai (their attending optometrist as well) had left Overlake Eye Care. Very upsetting but I have found and am seeing Dr. Boparai at Airis Eye luckily! read more

I initially went here because I felt like my glasses needed to change. I got here for my first visit and I'm nearly certain that the person that 'examined' me was not a doctor. My eyes were dialated without the use of numbing drops and burned alot. The technician proceeded to do what they do and, although I never got to a point of being able to see well with her result, was given a prescription. I then proceeded to order my new glasses at a price of over $700.00. When those glasses were available, I picked them up and tried really hard to make them work for me. After a couple of days, I called the place where I had ordered them ( conveniently in the same office space) I was told that I would be required to see the doctor again to rectify things. On the second visit, I actually saw a doctor and was THEN told that I had cataracts that needed attention. I had cataract surgery done elsewhere successfully. I love Overlake Eye Care. My entire family comes here. Dr. Bopari is excellent as are all his colleagues. I especially appreciate their Mibo treatments for dry eye. If you have dry eye and have had marginal or short term results, try the Mibo treatment they offer. It has been a life saver for me. No more pain or puffiness. It is state of the art and a completely comfortable treatment that takes about 40 minutes in total. It may take a few treatments to completely clear dry eye but it was only thing that worked for me. Now I just come back occasionally to keep them clear. The technicians are also fantastic, knowledgeable, and provide patient education as they work with you. Last, they have a great and current selection of eye wear. Overall, a 10! read more

My wife saw Rebecca Lindsay, MD, who, when pressed, admitted that they had made her glasses wrong a year ago and then provided no apology and refused to take any action to fix the problem. Indifferent and defensive. Worse service than you would expect at a fast food outlet and she is an MD. We contacted Harry Boparai, OD, who I believe is the owner, and he did not return our letters. It is interesting so many 5 star reviews. I believe they are fake reviews. I went there because the good reviews. I feel they didn't sanitize very well during this special time. And most important, the doctor is not professional at all. Lack of knowledge!!!! My eye was very very painful and blurry. However the doctor said no infection, no antibiotics needed, and send me home. He even didn't do any test. Just Asking me to come back a few days later. However, My eye got so so so hurting in the following days. I decided to go to a different clinic, and they gave me some antibiotics drops in the morning. And I felt so much better now. The Overlake eyecare just want you to see them again and again; charge you more money. A common pink eye needs 2 visits? Don't trust the fake reviews. read more

2nd visit 8/3/20, 1st MiPo for dry eye therapy session went well. The technician was great. Kind, courteous and sociable while she did the heat gel massage for my eyes. Dr. Boparai was quick and efficient. Today was the first day in a long time that my eyes didn't bother me. No heavy lids, strained eye muscles or itchy, painful, dry eyes. Dr. Coday recently gave me my annual eye care exam, and once again, I was impressed with how thorough it was. As busy as she was, I got her undivided attention in answering all my questions and she came up with an action plan for my severe dry eyes. I was also treated by Dr. Boparai for my meibomian gland dysfunction dry eyes with the MiBo Thermoflo device. There was a noticeable improvement almost immediately. As with Dr. Coday, Dr. Boparai is also very professional, personable, and took the time to explain everything. There are many eye care professionals in the greater Seattle area.
