Being a Southern California native, I was a bit worried about my lack of preparedness for cold rainy weather. However, the clothing offered made my experience much more comfortable! They don't have posted hours on their website but it seems like the guy who does the rentals at the marina shows up around noon or so then shuts down around 7pm. The rental person definitely has old boat guy vibes and sense of humor so if that's not your thing, well, now you know. Cash or check only so come prepared; there's an ATM at the minimart about 5 minutes up the road from the marina. You pay for the whole day not by the hour so if you want to do a longer day this is a very economical way to do it. You can rent canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and even a couple of small sailboats. None of the equipment is super new or nice but it works. At the time of year that we went (early September), the reservoir's shores were totally occluded by marsh grasses, limiting how much exploring we could do of the wetlands. But my guess is that at other times of year you can see lots of wildlife etc along the shore. Overall I would recommend, especially if you want to go kayaking but don't have a roof rack to transport.

Picnic tables, beach, I think I remember grills, a big grassy area - lots of space to spread out and enjoy the day. Seems like a GREAT place to take family and kids. As a county park, there is a no-alcohol policy. While I'm sure some people discreetly partake, that policy adds to the family friendly atmosphere. Our campsite was in the middle with very little privacy or shade, but we walked around and it was one of the only "bad" spots in the place. I reserved it unseen and shortly before we went, so I was just glad to have a spot. If I come again, I'll reserve in advance and get a water view. For us, the camping was secondary as we spent most of the day out on the water. There is a boat launch for larger vessels and a great big parking area to leave your truck and trailer. We were able to park near the grass and air up our inflatable SUPs pretty close to where we put in. We put in near the beach and spent the day paddling around and it was great fun. It's a lovely lake and we had a great time, but not the "most amazing" lake to paddle by any means. I would come again, next time with friends!

We were camping and where we were staying, there was only a fast moving river. We wanted to chill on our floaties and not worry about being pushed out to kingdom come. The place has a lot of tables and is kept up. I never saw workers so the fact that it was clean at the end of the day was nice. The people there were mixed meaning some were families, some were just young people there to have fun. Some looked seedy while others looked okay. All were there to have fun so don't let that keep you. There is a roped swimming area which is nice if you have little ones. Of course most people went on the other side (I did) because it was easier to swim. Off to the right there are kayak and paddle board rentals. I believe they were about $40 for the entire day. They even had a sailboat rental for $60 for an hour. I would definitely visit this place again if I were in the area.

If you come in winter, low water reveals extra shoreline which can make for a fun day of treasure hunting, I once found a very wet phone here and was able to return it to it's owner.
