Whether it's the lack of knowledge or care in customer service. I've stopped going to big chains now and have fully given these guys my business. Aside from the occasional ammo pickup but, besides during this whole fiasco, Mazama usually has all the ammo I could ever need. They've always been super helpful and really knowledgeable. And they always had what I'm looking for. Looking forward to fishing time and seeing what else they've got to offer. From what I've seen, they look like they could have just about anything I could ever need in regards to fishing as well so we'll see! Also, just found out that I can come in and work on my AR there and they would help me out as well. So looking forward to doing that too! They keep telling me good to go, your all good ! Then silencer shop confirms they have yet to finish their 5 min part of the order. Un helpfully. I've personally asked multiple employees "is this all I need" are we finished and everything is good to go? I get a idk man, I think so, etc. So the saga continues daily till I get them to finish their part. Im told by at and the silencer shop that this is a easy 5 min procedure. Our group of 7 had a really great full-day rafting trip on the McKenzie with Kamis and Ariel at…read moreOregon Whitewater Adventures! We arrived to the meeting spot around 10am and got back to the cars around 3:15pm. Reservations were easy to do online, and I received the confirmation email shortly after with details on timing, meeting location, and what to expect for the day. This was the only communication we received, so if you're someone who finds reminder emails helpful, you may not get it with OWA. We were split up between two boats with one additional solo guest. The shuttle ride was quick to Paradise campground, leaving the meeting point around 10:10am. The guides set us up with life jackets and paddles, provide us with instructions for paddling and safety, and after hopping in the boats and doing some practice strokes, we were on our way. The deli-style lunch was set up for us about 2 hours into the trip (12:30pmish). We ate at a campground with bathroom access. The lunch spread consisted of bread, deli meats, cheese, sauces/condiments, melon, veggies, chips, cookies, PB/jelly, sodas - a surprisingly vast assortment and was a treat after a few hours on the water. The entire trip was really fun. We enjoyed chatting with our guides, paddling into the rapids and enjoying the scenery. Our boat hit a rapid "just right" and two members of our raft fell out, but we moved quickly to get them back in the raft and all had a good laugh about the rapid. The only thing I wish is that OWA would offer photos (just cell phone, nothing fancy). As they carry a dry bag and phones, it would have been nice to have a photo of our group that could be emailed/texted after the trip. Or from the staff member who sets up the lunch. We all really enjoyed our day and would definitely be interested to do another trip with OWA. And as the email says, "And remember, a guide can over tip your boat, but you can't over tip your guide."

I am a 49 year old novice(a virgin for those who aren't sensitive ) meaning my time with a bow or…read moretype or kind is none to zilch experience. When I went into the shop I was nervous because I am outdoorsy type of guy , and every single person in there was a was at some level of a lot of knowledge to knowing how to build and tune a bow from scratch, even the big Daddy himself, Wayne Endicott was there fine tuning some arrows for a customer. Well the young man who they assigned to me for getting the type of bow for me seemed not standoffish but more like unsure of himself as salesperson, but when it came to the specs for the bows are him, he was spot on. THey fitted me for the Mission Switch, which ironically i like better than the Bear Archery Cruzer G2 and the Mission MXR together, it felt light and comfortable and any kind uncomfortability I felt, I chalk up to me being nervous and tired(was exhausted from work) nothing they did at all. I will admit I have watched a lot of YouTube videos of Wayne, and I felt like a fanboy meeting his epic idol for the first time. I wish I had more time and he had more time because I would love to pick his brain, the knowledge he has is vast when it comes not only to bows but also hunting with them. It was easy to purchase my bow especially with the layaway plan they offer(10% percent down, and a 90 day window to pay it off, with some exceptions being allowed and time extended). I was told I can come in at anytime between now and the time I pay it off to practice with the bow, which I am going to do starting on Monday. For those who didn't have the stellar service I had, please give them another chance. I think you will be pleasantly surprised how gracious they are, and how helpful they seem to want to be. They gave me some great tips as to what arrows to buy and even said IF i couldn't find the arrows I wanted, they help me find them through someone else need be. I showed up about an hour and half before closing, they made sure that I knew I could take as much time as I needed even though I felt bad about being there that late in the day. Took some clubs out to demo area. Decided on clubs. Pick out shoes and bag inside. I ask my helper can I get any type of deal if a buy all right now. Was told big NO. Not politely. Just NO . Keep in mind this was a big purchase. So I asked this question. I picked up a sleeve of balls. " I will buy all right now if you throw in this sleeve of balls" My helper whom seemed upset for me to ask for a tiny discount for spending close to 2k came back and said NO. I WALKED OUT, slowly. I thought no way they let me leave. They did. I had to borrow my mom's clubs for tournament.

This is a boat company that has its main store location just off of 99 but also does rentals from…read morethe Orchard Point Marina on the Fern Ridge Reservoir, which is handy if you don't have a car rack. They don't have posted hours on their website but it seems like the guy who does the rentals at the marina shows up around noon or so then shuts down around 7pm. The rental person definitely has old boat guy vibes and sense of humor so if that's not your thing, well, now you know. Cash or check only so come prepared; there's an ATM at the minimart about 5 minutes up the road from the marina. You pay for the whole day not by the hour so if you want to do a longer day this is a very economical way to do it. You can rent canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and even a couple of small sailboats. None of the equipment is super new or nice but it works. At the time of year that we went (early September), the reservoir's shores were totally occluded by marsh grasses, limiting how much exploring we could do of the wetlands. But my guess is that at other times of year you can see lots of wildlife etc along the shore. Overall I would recommend, especially if you want to go kayaking but don't have a roof rack to transport.

Bought a bike from an East coast company that has an agreement with Lifecycle to assemble bikes for…read morethem for customers in Eugene. The bikes at Lifecycle seem pretty high end, whereas the bike they assembled for me would be mid to low, and honestly, I do have trepidation walking into high end bike shops as workers can be really snobbish. In fact, customer service in general at the moment is not the best anywhere, so my plan was just to get in and get out. And let's not forget, I wasn't paying for the service. Anyway, these guys were great, real friendly, real down to earth, and they treated me no differently than if I had been picking up a 5000 dollar bike. It is such a relief and a bright spot nowadays to be dealing with people in stores that really want to have your business, and these guys know how to make a customer feel welcome. Got the bike home and noticed a clicking in the rear wheel that I couldn't figure out, so called them and they said bring it down and they'd take care of it. That is exactly what they did. On the spot. The problem wasn't obvious and they had two or three guys looking at it, test riding it, trouble shooting it. Instead of treating it as a burden, work that wouldn't be charged for, they seemed to treat it as a challenge. So I hung out in a local cafe for a bit, they called me, I came back and picked it up, no problems since. I just can't tell you how rare it is to find people who take pride in their work, enjoy the challenge of it, and know how to make their customers feel welcome and appreciated, even, in this case, ones who are not paying a dime. Thanks guys. I would recommend you to anyone, and I will be sending a letter saying the same to the company I bought the bike from. They chose a good partner for this service in Eugene.
