This shop doesn't have much of--or honestly, any that I could find--online presence, which seems odd but hopefully this will help spread the word. They have a lot of soaps--a significant amount of space in the store is dedicated to their French soap bar. Bar or liquid soap in a dizzying amount of scents. There are candles from the same brand. They have housewares, like decorate items, storage vessels, placemats, and so on. There is artwork for sale--just look up so you don't miss it! They have cards, and books... and then other little nicknacks hidden around the store as well. I bought as a gift for a friend a sand dollar from a fairly local artist, who with her niece decorates sand dollars they've collected on their trips to the beach. It's worth noting that the store is not accessible, as there's a step up and so folks in wheelchairs won't be able to enter. The employee (owner?) was friendly. Not a lot of parking right near the store (perhaps a bit on the street) but there's a public lot a couple blocks away, since this is the main shopping and tourist area in Seaside.

Biggest negative is that we have seen some of it else wear and they have consistently been more expensive.

Some very cool button ups on the wall with really cool patterns but they were over $100. Walking into the adjoining rooms I notice the first one has no clothes in it. Just a bunch of random objects. Third room had a rack with a couple shirts and some dirty shoes on a shelf. Unimpressed with all of it, won't be back. Additionally, I found it weird that it seems like the owner attempted to remove the button for people to leave reviews. I had never seen that before. Seemed to be heavy into Disney collectables and memorabilia from other entertainment genres. They also have a pretty eclectic mix of other shiny things and dust collectors as well. I was surprised that I wasn't tossed out on my arse for having never seen The Goonies and breathing Astoria air. The store had large framed homage to the film complete with autographs and other fun stuff. Fun little place to browse. Typical service for Astoria so be prepared to be not greeted and ignored upon entry to the shop. Many of our local merchants have lost the art of politeness sadly. I suppose it is the economy, the constant rain, dealing with tourists all summer, putting up with locals that have the gall to attempt to patronize them in the off-season...who knows anymore?

Many of these spots are open on…read morefunky schedules that run counter to my own funky schedule, so I don't get a chance to pop in and see what they are all about. The other afternoon, my mate and I had the day to kill and the Sunny weather inspired a nice walk about Astoria. It was fun stopping in to some of the little shops that we have only seen from behind closed and locked doors or from the road as we drive by en route to other pressing matters. Many of the places that we strolled into, gave us the sad, but usual coastal customer service treatment of ignoring / half-assed enthusiasm / or annoyance that we dare disturb their lack of working. I am proud to report that none of those places made a penny from us just on principal. Posey-Reed was a totally different story indeed. The wonderful lady that owns the shop was friendly, talkative, personable, intelligent, and really enjoys her business. We spent almost an hour in there just chatting and though we didn't "need" anything at all, we were sure to make a few purchases to be good neighbours and reward a business that cares. She obviously isn't going to retire on our $50 dollar contribution, but at least we know it is going to a good place. Nice and deceptively large selection of collectables, antiques, decor, furniture, vintage clothing, and art work. Many toys, books, and even sheet music await you, ALL at modest prices. She will bargain with you on some of the items as well. For those of you into vintage clothing, I highly recommend checking out her selection that is very well organized, eclectic, and at decent prices. I still had sticker shock from another vintage clothing place in town, but Posey-Reed restored my faith in quality and pricing. Do the community a favour and give some business locally. Posey-Reed is operated the way a business should be....with kindness and amazing customer service. Be sure to tell her that the Irish Cop / Pastor in the cool shirt sent you in.
