This 5 star review is not for the AK Club, it's for the staff…read more I was at the Eagle River club earlier tonight and I saw an older "gentleman" mention there were no towels in the men's locker. Although a valid complaint, one of the staff members (Amber I believe) let the member know the washers were down and they would supply towels asap. The member then told her to take the towels across the street to be cleaned. While his ignorance caused everyone to turn and stare at him, the previously mentioned staff member handled him with patience and repeated her intent to assist asap. Very professional way to handle a rude encounter!!!

You're not stuck facing a wall on cardio equipment and each one has a tv with direct tv attached to it for ease. The music playing in the gym has been pretty good and I did notice you can snap a QR and add music to play over the speakers. The staff have been quite nice and the facility is clean. It's a little weird that there are giant bowls of candy at the front desk when most people there are trying to change or maintain a lifestyle of health & fitness. For those that are new or nervous in the gym, the circuit training is a great introduction. 30 minutes of weights and cardio, one step/machine at a time. We enjoy the hydro loungers at the end of our workouts, which is quite a nice way to relax afterwards, for a few minutes. What I don't like is the lack of privacy... sure you're dressed but whenever you're laying there, everyone that walks by looks at you like you're on display. I know, I may be weird about this, but a privacy curtain would be nice. I do wish there was a sauna or steam room to go along with the black card perks, but it's not a necessity, just wishful.

The assistants at the desk are all cheery and helpful. They answer all our questions and start our message equipment in a timely manner. I always see them cleaning and restocking the gym. Things like toweling and sanitizer. It's the same gear that we've grown accustomed to since our start back in 2010. So good on them. It's the perfect atmosphere for us. We never feel intimidated or judged. People just do their own thing and keep to themselves. We feel comfortable here. The black card Level is $20 a month. With that I get full use of the equipment, 24 hrs a day (except weekends). I have unlimited access to tanning booths, message chairs and four hydro massage tables that kick ass. PRO TIP: We sign up for two sessions of hydro massage instead of just one. Fourteen minutes of pure heaven, is much better than seven. We haven't done it yet, but they also offer multiple classes for both group and individuals. For free. There's even a small relaxation lounge for afterwards. We kid ourselves and pretend we belong to a fancy club. But really, how much is pretending? 07/22

Comparing to other gyms and been invited to or dropped in with it was more of a 321....and go and there wasn't any explanations movements and which didn't allow members of the gym to truly improve. Members of the gym aren't watching the whiteboard and the coaches aren't teaching to the strongest or fastest athletes but to everyone. All of this helps the overall experience to help support the crossfit. I've spoken to a good deal of coaches at other gyms and I've avoided those gyms and the coaches because they seemed to not care towards the gym.

As you know, community is everything and in this gym, it is made up of super friendly, welcoming, funny & hard working people, the way it should be. In this gym you will find all level athletes. Group sizes per class vary from 2-8 +/- , average about 5. What's is extra cool about this box is that Mike is aiming to make this a high tech and results driven gym with his very successful programming and heart rate monitors so that the athlete and coaches can see the athletes intensity at whatever level they are working out in. Every single week athletes are reaching new personal records in lifts, it's amazing!! If you're thinking about trying this gym, definitely give it a shot. This is the Army gym, on the Army side of the base. To show you how much I love this gym, I'll tell you, I'm Air Force and the Air Force gym is literally a five minute walk from my front office. However, I much rather drive to the opposite side of base, about 8 minutes, to use this gym...why? Because the staff here is great! It's a small gym, there aren't your typical gym animals. Army personnel work out regularly it is part of their mission, Air Force not so much. So in this gym there aren't the typical gym buffs, losers, creepers, unfocused bunch you'll typically see at the Air Force gym. This gym has everything you need and they are expanding it vastly...which makes me nervous because I'd hate for this place to lose the dark dungeon kill-your-workout feel and change into the "Oh Yay Glamorous Lighting-let's take selifes" feel that the Air Force gym has. I don't know. I really love this gym, it has more than everything you need, its clean, friendly customer service, its reliable, you won't be let down. It's perfect. This gym...is bae.
