But my father had designed this house with his architect brother and it was where I had spent many happy years with my parents, so I decided I wanted to honor their memory by restoring it. My husband and I live 200 miles away and it wasn't easy to find and select a contractor that we felt comfortable with. We interviewed five, none of whom quite clicked for us. Until we found Meridian. Justin and Sara "got" the essence of the house right away. They could see clearly what it would look like if its unique design features were preserved and if it were restored to its original beauty. They knew just the right balance to strike between updating the place and keeping the underlying architectural design concept intact. We didn't realize the full breadth and range of Meridian's service capability until the project was underway. We tapped their considerable design and construction expertise heavily through all the phases of this complex refurbishing/restoration project. From the bigger items (e.g. installing a new roof, replacing rotted beams and eaves, installing new cedar siding, building a new deck, tearing down and building a retaining wall, installing two new bathrooms, doing tilework, intricate ironwork, concrete work, building patio covers, doing a porch repair, plumbing, electrical work), to the smaller items such as finish carpentry, gate repair, etc.--Justin and his crew were able to handle it all.
