Chad and Scott also came up with an ingenious way to rejuvenate my very large patio room rather than having to tear it down and build it fresh - saving me perhaps $50,000! They totally came through for us and never complained about our add-ons and occasional indecisiveness. We started with pulling out our kitchen appliances, counters and sink. They replaced the counters with concrete, added a subway tile backsplash, waterline to the new fridge, even helped us re-route the gas line to the stove. They added beautiful stacked stone and a new hearth to our fireplace. They also gut renovated both bathrooms. The tilework in the bathrooms was top notch. Hands down, BEST construction company!! From the time we got an estimate until Steve finished the job (which I thought was quick), communication has been great. With any construction there's always issues, not this time . The bathroom looks beautiful. I recently had Steve R. of Powerhouse Construction do some work on the outside of my home. I had a wooden beam holding up a balcony, the beam was showing signs of rot from water damage. Steve came and inspected it, and said he could fix it in one day. Sure enough, he was able to acquire all the lumber needed and spend good half a day doing what would have taken me weeks to do even if I had the skills. The work and craftsmanship was phenomenal. Steve even added some additional protections to prevent the wood from rotting in the future and my beam looks the best it ever has. Powerhouse Construction was sent by Cal Termite to do some wood repair in my home that had termite damage. Francisco and Jorge did a great job repairing the damage. In some areas of the fascia the wood had to be cut and then a new piece inserted in order for the repairs to be completed. They did such a great job that when I looked at the area afterwards, I could not even tell which area was cut and replaced as I couldn't see any seams in the wood showing the repairs, excellent job overall. I cannot say enough good things about Powerhouse Construction! I had never done a home renovation before and I'm so relieved that we found Powerhouse. Scott, Chad and their whole team never, ever, forgot that we were going to live in the house -- both during the renovation and after. It was such a pleasure to work with a construction company that wasn't worried about making the house a showplace for their website but was always focused on what we needed and wanted to make this house perfect for us. They always showed up. If for some reason they weren't coming, we always knew ahead of time. There wasn't a day that we expected someone and no one showed. Let me preface this by stating that I am a licensed California Architect and I would not recommend using this contractor. Completely unreliable and unresponsive. My husband and I had some water damage after the heavy storms and needed some work on our house. We needed interior work that was time sensitive as our home owner's insurance had moved us into a hotel temporarily and I was over 8 months pregnant, as well as additional exterior work we wanted done (new siding, front door, etc.). We contacted Powerhouse Construction and scheduled Scott to come out for an estimate. Scott had to reschedule with us twice before making it out to our house on a Sunday. He took no measurements only pictures which we thought was strange as much of the work could be priced on a per square foot basis. He said he would get us the quote no later than Tuesday. We stressed that we really needed the interior work done quickly as we were in a hotel and we had a baby due very soon. At the end of the day on Tuesday we had not received the quote so my husband text messaged Scott to find out when we could expect it. We received no reply. My husband called and emailed Scott on Wednesday and again got no call back. I called Scott on Wednesday afternoon and he finally picked up (I am guessing only because I have an 805 area code). He did not apologize for not getting us the quote yet and just said that he would try and work on it later that day but would definitely have it to us by the end of the day on Thursday. I asked him if he was serious about doing the work because we really needed to engage another contractor if he wasn't interested. He said he was interested and could still have a crew at our house the following Monday. We did not receive the quote by end of day Thursday and started making calls to other companies. Luckily another company came out on Friday at 2pm and got us a professional quote broken out into line items at 5pm that same day and could start the work by Monday. My husband finally received a text message from Scott stating a price for drywall. He didn't know what this included - did it include the insulation for the attic, painting etc.? The price was also high making it seem like Powerhouse Construction really wasn't interested in doing the work. Powerhouse wasted a week of our time (my 37th week of pregnancy) and was completely unresponsive and unreliable. I highly doubt if we would have accepted the text message quote on that Friday that there would be a crew at my house on the following Monday based on Scott's earlier falsehoods about when we could expect to receive a quote. I wish he would have just been honest with me and let us know that they were too busy to do the work and because this was time sensitive we should engage another company to do the work. read more

We got wind of Powerhouse Construction when we had Scott Keighley inspect and treat our house for termites. (Cal Termites) Scott impressed us with the care and time he took with us and our home that we asked him to consult us with construction also. Scott was patient with my ideas and allowed me to be creative within the logistical parameters. As someone who has never done a remodel in our home, we were always confused about the process, which he took the time to explain to address any of our concerns. He even offered some suggestions that changed my ideas for the better and offered ideas. His brother Chad Keighley took over the construction on site along side Steve Ryan and his son Mika. Chad and Steve brought my vision to life and took care of my home during the two months. They paid attention to detail and gave me my dream kitchen/living room open living space. Such professional work!! They removed a load bearing wall, completely gutted my kitchen top to bottom, and made me custom built-ins, fireplace, and installed windows and doors. They are sooooooo nice! They also impressed me with the little things... We were not home during the construction so they left us a welcome home vase of flowers. I contacted Powerhouse again after dealing with a different construction company let me down. He immediately scheduled one of his guys to come out and fix my plumbing and install a sliding door. If you need plumbing work done, ask for Russell. He is friendly, shows up on time and is knowledgeable. Powerhouse also has services to spray for bugs. Use them, they're great! We had a horrible ant problem, after they came out we didn't see ants for close to 7 months. I just had them come back out because I started to see a few ants. They sprayed last Wednesday and I haven't seen any since. read more

Chad and Scott are brothers, and you would be hard-pressed to find a more honest, creative, and efficient team of contractors and builders for your next project, large or small. My experience has been that construction companies often aren't interested in small jobs, and don't lavish much attention on them when they do take them on. Like many of us in this down economy, our family isn't planning on moving, but instead is working on constantly repairing, remodeling and extending the home we already own. I hired Chad to work through a long series of small jobs, including rehabbing an entire tile shower and bath, repainting doors, replacing commodes and various little fix-it tasks. Chad quoted a very reasonable price, presented receipts for all purchases, and worked diligently and steadily through the projects, which took him a full week. I was afraid that due to dry rot, I would need to replace our French doors at the back of the house, but Chad insisted that wouldn't be necessary. He ingeniously "reconstructed" the doors, only replacing those elements that had rotted (in a 20 year old set of wooden French doors!), and rejuvenated them at less than one third the cost of a new set. Chad told me that he and his brother had developed these skills through many years of refurbishing apartment complexes in a cost-effective manner for owners, and those of us who use Powerhouse Construction benefit from that great experience! I can't imagine a better company to work with, and Chad was a real pleasure to have on site and completed the work with integrity and dispatch. I'll definitely call them again for my next project. Major crack in patio concrete slab. I called on Monday. Job was bid on Monday afternoon. Tuesday old concrete was removed and forms were created. Truck was not available on Wednesday so concrete was poured on Thursday. Beautiful job. Clean up was great. George and George were excellent to work with. Fair price. We had a termite inspection and needed a few repairs done asap for refinancing our house. We called Scott at Powerhouse Construction. He came out quickly to look at what needed to be done and give us an estimate. The work was completed within 3 days of our call and done very well. After the repairs were completed We had our termite company come out and reinspect. Powerhouse construction is THE best construction outfit I know of. I met with Scott at 7pm (I work late). He was happy to meet whenever worked for me. I had him give me an estimate for a new kitchen faucet, the price was more than fair. Steve came out and blew my mind with his knowledge and experience. When he was done the faucet which looks awesome he asked to use the bathroom. When he was finished he went in back in with wrench in hand and repaired (in under 10 seconds) our leaking toilet that we had a plumber install 6 months ago. It was such a small leak we could never figure out why our floor was getting messed up, which is how he spotted the leak. I offered him a tip which he refused and offered me one back... he said, if I peel back the linoleum the floor underneath the leak will need attention. I looked and sure enough.... I called Scott back out, long story longer he came out at 8pm quoted me a whole new bathroom and Steve came out and completed it timely and perfectly! The deck turned out better than anything I could have expected. The Powerhouse Construction team is very knowledgable and their work is second to none. This may sound funny that I'm writing a review for a company that has done no work for me, however, after speaking with Scott at Powerhouse Construction, I was compelled to write one. I'm in the process of buying a home and needed to get an idea on the cost of some potential work that needs to be done. Scott was extremely helpful, answered all of my questions and helped me better understand what "needs" to be done and what doesn't "need" to be done, based on the home inspection report. He also was able to answer a couple of questions I had regarding potential concerns related to the foundation, placement of sprinkler heads in the yard and some irrigation erosion in the yard. I found them on Yelp and called based on the reviews. I was not disappointed. I asked for a bid to frame in a new opening for a new 8' garage door as well as patch some stucco around a newly installed electrical panel. Scott responded quickly and I felt the price was very reasonable. The entire crew was very friendly and professional. Making sure that everything was clean and put away at the end of each day. Even returning a couple days later to insure the stucco patch matched the surrounding stucco( not easy on a 30yo house) and touch up some paint around the newly framed garage door. The Garage door was installed in the new opening and everything fit perfectly. I am sure this was a very small job for them but they treated it as if they were working on their own house. Contacted this company to do modifications on my father's home due to his disabilities. I initially was content with the first contact as the individual we met with was very friendly and I was looking forward to working with them. As time went by, there was a lack of communication and to date, I still haven't heard anything from the company. We have decided to move forward with another contractor but below is a timeline of what we dealt with. 6/4/18: meet up with contractor was set up at 9:00am. Received a call around 7:50am from the owner of the company stating he would not be able to make it due to an injury of another worker in Moorpark. Totally understandable so we rescheduled for 4pm that afternoon. A worker showed up in place of The owner and did a run through of our home and took some blue prints. He said it would be about two weeks before they could get us a quote. Ok no biggie. 6/20/18: haven't heard from Powerhouse. I reached out to Scott for a follow up. He emailed back saying that he emailed on 6/13/18 but I never responded. He then forwarded the email. I never received the email and even checked my junk mail. I should add that he did have my number and didn't bother to call. Again, no big deal. Let's just continue with the process. 6/25/18: we scheduled another run through of the home with a Veterans Affair Rep for 7/10/18. (my father is former military and they would be assisting with the project). 7/10/18: run through completed....still no estimate from the previous month. When speaking about the possible modifications and what could be done. The owner's response to everything was "I don't know." He probably said that about 50 times and no matter what the question was, the response was "I don't know." The VA rep then explained the process to the owner and he was advised that they would need to provide plans along with an estimate to present, he would then be reimbursed. The owner seemed hesitant and stated that he wasn't comfortable paying for plans up front. Ok, I understand. But this is the process when the VA is involved. He then stated that he would reach out to the VA rep to discuss what could be done and he would let us know if he wanted to move forward or how he wanted to work things out. My father and I had no problem paying out of pocket if we had to but he said he would discuss with the VA Rep 7/27/18: I still haven't heard from the owner. No email. No phone call. I reached out to the VA rep and she informed me that has not reached out to her either. If this was a job he wasn't interested in, he could've contacted me and just said so. Instead of leaving us wondering what happened to him. I also find it weird that we never received an estimate from the first walk through. It's just upsetting that my father has a limited time before he is completely disabled and we're here having to wait for a response that never came. The respectful thing to do would've been to reach out. Not a job you're interested in, that's fine. We would've appreciated the communication. read more
