I have shopped at this location multiple times and have spent hundreds of dollars in a single visit thousands over time. Every time I come in, I am polite, patient, and respectful. I smile, say excuse me, and ask for help when needed. Yet on more than one occasion, I've been met with rude behavior or attitudes that make me feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff by simply asking a question. Today was the final straw. I forgot that I had a gift card and had already paid cash. The gift card did not cover the full amount, so I politely asked if the sale could be redone so it could be applied. I was told no. There was no effort to help, no solution offered, no customer-service attempt whatsoever. So I will be returning everything and repurchasing using my gift cards, and I will not be stepping back into this store again. The staff should be ashamed of themselves. The products themselves are great. I genuinely love the clothing and quality. But customer service matters especially when you work on commission. If you are earning from sales, you should be going above and beyond, not acting bothered by the customers who are funding those commissions. Very disappointing.

Sales associates were milling about as we looked around and saw one woman was very helpful when looking for a displayed item I was interested in buying. Prices were higher then I would have thought which is where m journey ends. I will have to shop around before going back since I don't know enough about cowboy boots and usually pricing. So having a branch here in Portland is great--and take note that not only do they have great sales, but there's a seconds/repurposed area toward the back (and sometimes special displays) with items from the brand that are being re/upcycled, all of which cost less than regular price. What's even better is how local the vibe is in the store, and how well connected they are with the wider community of makers. Along with the brand's products the store carries little locally made gifts: everything from jewelry to soap to playing cards and chocolates. There's no set selection, but you'll always find little collections of items for sale around the store. And this weekend Toad & Co. hosted a holiday makers' market in the large back warehouse room, which was awesome! This brought in a bunch of Maine makers selling pottery, coffee, jewelry, leather goods, knitwear, cards, books, candles . . . basically I got most of my Christmas shopping done here! I love that Toad & Co. is sponsoring something like this and really connecting with the community--definitely the kind of business I want to support.
