My wife and I needed to waste some time before another spot opened nearby and we decided to swing in. I will say they had some large name brand items that appeared to be cheaper than other places offer them. Although I do think part of the issue with here and other similar stores is the fact a lot of items are more or less junk in reality once you look past the commonly known brands. To their credit the store was well organized and offered a large variety of items ranging from houseware, clothes, seasonal items even some Christmas and Halloween stuff still. Was surprising that Halloween stuff was only discounted by 50% off considering how long it's been since the holiday. Service check out wise was quick and friendly. If you search around I think you can find some good deals but a lot of it seems questionable quality wise even at the "discounted" prices. As a lifelong Mainer I think I'd be quicker to return to Marden's than Ocean State. In the end, not too bad for a quick browse to waste some time.

I forgot that I had a gift card and had already paid cash. The gift card did not cover the full amount, so I politely asked if the sale could be redone so it could be applied. I was told no. There was no effort to help, no solution offered, no customer-service attempt whatsoever. So I will be returning everything and repurchasing using my gift cards, and I will not be stepping back into this store again. The staff should be ashamed of themselves. The products themselves are great. I genuinely love the clothing and quality. But customer service matters especially when you work on commission. If you are earning from sales, you should be going above and beyond, not acting bothered by the customers who are funding those commissions. Very disappointing.
