Paddington Station is huge. You can get almost anywhere in London from here. Lots of shops and places to eat are in the station. Two groceries are in the station, which makes it very convenient to pick some things up. A hotel is in the renovated older part of the station. It has a direct entrance rate into Paddington Station. This is a good location to stay. Lots of hotels in different price range ranges are within a 5 to 10 minute walk shopping and restaurants are all set within a 5 to 10 minute walk. read more

Is it an overpriced tourist trap? A little bit. But was this Paddington Bear store at Paddington station one of my first stops after arriving in London a week or so ago? Yep. It's a pretty large store. It sells anything Paddington-related you can think of: books, stuffed Paddingtons, t-shirts, sweatshirts, toys, ... everything Paddington! With the musical a hit in the West End, they have lots of Paddington: The Musical souvenirs, too. I went home with a book and a large Paddington stuffed animal. This iconic train station was actually the first station I arrived at during my first British adventure. I have since passed through many times in the last 3.5 years and it is still magnificent. The architecture is very grandiose and picture-worthy. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... Paddington Station isn't one of London's more grand train stations, but there is a pretty big reason you'll want to make a point to stop here: its adorable blue-coated, red-booted bear namesake: Paddington! If you were a fan of author Michael Bond's bear as a kid (or even now), you will love this. He is, after all, one of the most beloved British fictional characters of all time. This is a very busy, bustling train station. Lots of connections come through here, including the traveler-friendly Heathrow Express train with direct service to the airport. A (very outdated) Hilton hotel is attached, which is especially convenient if you have a very early train to catch. Since a ton of trains serve the station (including a very convenient link to the Tube), there is a very busy board of train delays! Luckily, there are plenty of quick service restaurants and shops (including two grocery markets) to keep you busy. Any train traveler will find just about all they could possibly need to make their journey more comfortable. There's also a fantastic official Paddington store that sells all sorts of bear-related goods. The prices are a little high, but they have a terrific inventory. This is the place for great souvenirs for the folks back home. Of course, don't forget the real reason you're here: to see Paddington! Head on over to Platform 1 for a terrific photo opportunity with a bronze statue of the famouse bear! He's sitting with his suitcase, waiting to greet delighted visitors. It's such a joy to watch as kids and adults alike get big smiles and run up to hug the statue. Be sure to tip your hat and tell Paddington 'hello' for me! You can visit Paddington 24/7, but here's a word of advice (and caution). Note that many of the services and even entrances are closed late at night, because this station can sometimes attract a more unsavory element. Gayle and I went through this station 4 times. The first was via the Heathrow Express, of which our Hilton Paddington Hotel was directly connected via an interior walkway. The second time was heading out (via the Great Western Railway) to Moreton-In-Marsh to start our multi-day Cotswolds walk. The 3rd was coming back from the Cotswolds and directly connecting on the Bakerloo line to our hotel very near Trafalgar square. The last time was our morning trip back to Heathrow after checking out of our hotel and taking the Bakerloo line again from Charing Cross. In between was a nice wait in the GWR lounge, and some light shopping opportunities at Boots, WH Smith, and the Paddington Bear store. This is a big and busy place and it took us awhile to figure out where everything was. We both found it to be clean and safe. The direct proximity of this station to our first hotel was brilliant and my only complaint was a broken escalator down the tube that necessitated schlepping our luggage down the stairs. This is a busy place and after a little disorientation, we eventually found where we needed to go and when. There's also a information desk that helped us a few times. read more

I love this station... whenever I travel through here I make sure to arrive with extra time, not so that I make sure to catch my train, but so that I can browse through the shops It's a big rail station usually busy. There are shops and lots of places to eat, from coffee shops, to sushi, to sit down places. When it come to the shops, think walking through an airport. There's lots of places to sit at the waiting area where the majority of the food and shops are. There are no chairs or benches at the actual platforms, but that's ok since the only tend to announce the platforms about 10 min before departure so get ready to move fast The bathrooms are nowhere near the main shopping area which is counter-intuitive. One set is at the far left and the other set at the far right. Downstairs, by the entrance of the underground station for the Bakerloo line, there is a WHSmith and a Krispy Kreme. read more

Well, once again there seems to actually be two sections to this station, and that is not counting the mainline station that sort of links the two. Then again, it really has a lot to do with the fact that the two platforms, or lines, are quite a distance from each other. In fact, I reckon it took something like five minutes to actually get from one of the lines to the other one, which is literally at the far end of the platforms of the main line station. Paddington is one of the bigger hubs to get to/from London. You can easily get the High Speed Rail or Thameslink rails to the countryside. The Elizabeth Line can take you to Heathrow. There's plenty of options from here. Like other tube stations, there's also a nice and airy feel to this one. It's actually kinda cool looking at the high speed rails from the main concourse. Plenty of spots to grab some quick food and drink. For those that really want to be next to the tube station, just stay at the Hilton (and deal with any construction!). For those who want to take the Elizabeth Line, you really don't need to enter the main concourse. The escalators are to the side of the main area, but do keep in mind that if you're taking large bags, you'll need to take the elevator. The escalator is admittingly faster, but worth noting this. To get back to Heathrow, it takes less than 30 mins. Don't waste your money with Heathrow Express, just take the Elizabeth Line. read more

I stayed nearby for the London Marathon and this was a very convenient tube/rail station. Even with all of the construction outside and the occasional rail strike, I was still able to get to wherever I needed to go. It's pretty easy to find where you need to go as there are signs everywhere as well as directional markings on the ground. I recently visited Paddington station when I was meeting my friend off his train. The station is really big, and has SO many shops and places to eat! The station itself is really well looked after and is super clean. The bathrooms are also really clean which is a bonus. You can also get to the tube station directly from the train station floor, which is really handy if you need to take the tube somewhere once you get off your train. London Paddington is one of the many stations, serving Central London. It is served by TFLRail, Great Western Railway and the Heathrow Express. The station is quite large and clean, and even has the Hilton London Paddington built inside. There are a couple of stores, which you seem to find in every train station including Marks and Spencer, Boots and Sainsbury's, a couple of other brands are located here too including Barburrito and Starbucks. The station is over multiple floors, I did find the buttons in the lift to be confusing, there were many people going up and down, who didn't appear to know what floor was which, having some sort of floor plan would have been very helpful. I do not like how the construction of the platforms and the ticket-gates, I accidentally walked through an open automatic gate, meaning I entered the ticket-holders only area, as I was only passing through for the stores inside the station and not to board a railway service, I could have potentially been stopped by a guard and accused of fair dodging for no fault of my own. I do like the look and feel of the station, it's pretty comfortable and you can spend some time here before getting your train, the Heathrow Express is obviously useful, providing one of the best and most useful services to the Airport, may bus services also stop outside the station too, meaning it is easy to carry on your journey around London, with Marleybone Station and Baker Street 5-10 minutes away. 4* read more

If you are not feeling okay, there will be staff here to help you because they care for the safety of every passenger here. Yes, I had a Paddington Bear as a child. So it brought back many happy memories when my train from Reading terminated in Paddington Station. My main complaint is that they don't announce departing train platforms very promptly. I've stood around for 20 minutes waiting for them to post the platform for the Reading train and they seem to only do it with 10 minutes until departure and it's a mad rush to get a seat. Ugh! Easy access from the Underground - District / Circle / Hammersmith at one end, Bakerloo at the other. I've used both platforms. Note that while the maps do indicate it's one station, it's a bit of a fib as there's a decent hike between the two ends. There is a trolley selling all the usual tourist "Paddington Bear" items you would expect. So far, my willpower has been strong enough to say no to the little boy inside that wants a new Bear. Other shopping exists in the "Lawn" area, a set aside glassed enclosure with stores and restaurants, including a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and a Krispy Kreme. read more

Paddington Station was our home station for our week in London. Our hotel was a convenient 5 minute walk away on Praed Street so Paddington was perfect for us. The circle line even has an exit onto Praed Street so it was great to find our way to our hotel on the first day. The underground has the Circle, Distric and Bakerloo lines which run underground. These three lines can get you to other stations that connect all over the city. Each line is clearly marked from the main entrance and it is pretty easy to find your way to each line. Once down in each line, it is a whole other story where it can get a little confusing to travelers trying to find their way. I recommend downloading the tube planner app on your phone that helps you navigate and find your way. In addition to the underground, Paddington is the primary stop for the Heathrow Express that takes you to each terminal at Heathrow Airport. I left via Heathrow so I took the Heathrow Express. It was a little expensive but a true time saver and dropped you off as close to the terminals as possible. The coaches were also air conditioned which was nice on a hot day. Finding tickets for the Heathrow Express was a little confusing and I stood in a couple lines first but overall it's not bad. Inside the station, there are plenty of stops for a quick bite or something to eat and drink. There is also a pharmacy, a few stores for luggage, skin care and other sorts and the Paddington Bear Store which is adorable. You are sure to find something for any kid in your family. Paddington was a great station to be close to and I would happily use it again. read more

So the name for this listing is a little misleading. Paddington isn't just a Tube stop (i.e. a stop for London's underground trains) - it's also a railway station. The Tube, high-speed trains, and shuttles that run between Heathrow Airport and similar locations all stop at Paddington. That means that there is a LOT of foot traffic here. And with so many types of trains running in and out, Paddington as a whole is quite a massive complex to navigate. Not that navigating it is particularly difficult; the exits to the Tube are clearly marked, as are the platforms. (A lot of the time if you look down you'll find clear color markers guiding you to different parts of the station and its many exits, too.) There are information boards everywhere, as well as ticket kiosks for many travelers who pass through here to use for last minute purchases or to pick up online orders. And of course, if you are having a bit of trouble finding exactly what you need, there are staff available to help. As a result I really enjoyed riding in and out of Paddington. It's quite the bustling station! If you do travel through Paddington during a visit to the city like I did, the most important thing to remember is to arrive early. The trains in Britain are extremely prompt, and you want to be on the train before they shut the doors and prepare to leave. And since Paddington is particularly large due to the number of train platforms it contains, even simply walking to a coffee shop to grab a pick-me-up after you arrive may take a while, since the shops are all placed alongside the walls - that's a decent trek when your train seat is at the end of a long platform. So seriously, give yourself time to get on your train and do anything else you may need to do at Paddington (pick up tickets, look for Paddington's statue, etc.), ESPECIALLY if you're bringing luggage with you like my family! read more

We arrived here via the Heathrow Express, our very first day in London. We had no clue as to what to expect once the train arrived, but we knew that we would need a taxi to get to our airport. The train itself was fast and easy - I don't know why people would opt for a taxi or car service when the train is always there! Once we got to Paddington, we gathered all our luggage and tried to figure out the signage. It was super easy to understand, and it was made even easier by the color-coded lines on the ground. We found the line for "Taxis" and followed that from the tracks to the front of the station, and got ourselves a black cab for the short trip to the hotel. We did come back through Paddington Station late one night, while I was on the hunt for the bear. How could I not visit THE BEAR? His statue is easy to find, if you're familiar with the stories. Situated right below the clock on platform 1 - right where the Brown family first found him - is the cutest little statue you'd ever want to see! I promptly went to town taking a ton of pictures of and with him, and left feeling a little silly but immensely pleased that I had spent some time with him. Such a cute little bear. If Paddington train station were alive, I think it would be a little aggrieved to be left off the London Monopoly board in favour of Marylebone and Fenchurch St stations. It has a great heritage, having been designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It served as the London terminus of Great Western Railways when it opened and then was the western end of the Metropolitan line when it first opened as the world's first Underground line Today, it serves destinations west of London all the way into Cornwall. The Heathrow Express also departs from here, giving a speedier route to the airport than on the Underground. These days, the Metropolitan line no longer stops here but the station is served by Bakerloo, Circle & District lines and Hammersmit & City lines. Of course, a large part of the station's fame is its association with a certain Paddington Bear from deepest darkest Peru and his marmalade sandwiches. He was apparently found at Paddington station with a note saying,"Please look after this bear. Thank you." There's a metal statue of him sitting on his suitcase located inside the little retail centre - my teddy bear Teddy couldn't resist having his picture taken with such a famous bear! There's a stall selling all things Paddington in the station Another little hidden gem was shown to me recently by a friend whose parents own a narrowboat. The station is bordered on its eastern end by the Paddington arm of the grand Union canal - close to the Hammersmith and City line platforms, some stairs take you up to the canal where you can moor your narrowboat right in the heart of London for free. I like the Paddington Station because it's probably the only station I've heard of and it's riddled with history and the Paddington Bear! I've always been a fan of the bear ... which I know is not what this station is about but it is pretty awesome nonetheless. You should definitely check out the bear statute in the station, such a necessity! This station services most of the major trains ad subway stations of London. It is almost central to getting everywhere in London because most stations are connected here. Even more, the Heathrow Express runs through here and the airport (LHR) and is highly convenient. I know some people think of 18-20gbp as a lot of money to be paying, but I'm used taking a $45-55 taxi ride from JFK in New York into Manhattan, and that takes much longer than 15 minutes! There are a lot of food and souvenir vendors all around, just make sure you save your flower buying for another station, they charge 50gbp+ for a bouquet here! read more

Ive positioned myself a couple times now to stay in proximity of the station and it's worked out well. First Great Wester National rail, Heathrow Express,Heathrow Connect, taxis are just some of the few methods Ive gone in and out of here. Big, fairly well run, and convenient to get to many parts of town and the UK in general. The only time it was a bit crazy was when the Tube strike happened a while back causing the queues for things to be crazy.
