Magical Manatee Moments $55: Two hours on a paddle board to admire these beautiful creatures up close and personal. Money and time very well spent. I had some time to kill after landing in Orlando before my friend arrived, and googled things to do near the Orlando airport. Somehow that led me to find this tour, which is an hour drive from the airport. Due to rampant flight delays and cancellations lately, I was hesitant to book in advance in case a flight issue prevented me from making it. I called and asked if I would be able to book morning of after I land, and Ned said that was fine! True to his word, we secured my booking over the phone only 1.5 hours before the 9:00 AM start time. I also ended up being the only person on the tour because the other group cancelled. The tour starts from the boat launch area at Blue Springs State Park. The directions from Ned over the phone and in the confirmation email were super clear in helping to find it. There are no bathrooms at the launch area, so plan pit stops en route accordingly. He pointed out water swirl patterns that indicated a manatee just swam by. While on land we already saw a couple come up for air! Then we took to the water and paddled a relatively short distance to a roped off area where the manatees rest. They can swim in and out of that area as they please, and the first time one swims under your board is just breathtaking. Even though they are close, they leave you alone for the most part. My board got tapped by one unexpectedly but I managed to remain standing. We just hung around there watching the manatees swim by. Ned takes pictures of you to post on Facebook, which you can then send to all your friends and family to make them jealous. I miss my manatee friends already and can't wait until I have another opportunity to do this tour again. read more

Our party of 3 adults (late 30s to late 40s) and 1 teen (14 years old) had a fantastic day on the water with Uncle Ned (owner) and Jenna of Paddleboard Orlando. We were all first timers and easily navigated the lakes and canals on the Urban Trail that takes you along the lakeshores of Lake Virginia and Lake Osceola where you will see impressive and stately houses on the water. Uncle Ned had warned us that the feet are the first thing to tire out for first timers whereas I had expected it to be my cardiovascular system or back muscles. One adult did experience sore feet, the two adults who regularly practice yoga didn't experience this. Uncle Ned and Jenna are both fun people and their enthusiasm for paddleboarding and life really made a difference to our overall experience. I'm glad that we paid for a private tour with them vs. just renting boards. I expect ti is equally fun to join one of their group tours. Ned and Tom are the BEST! I had never done any paddle boarding and was a bit nervous when starting. The instructions given were simple and helped me keep my balance and have a great time. I highly recommend giving one of their tours a try. Even if you've never done SUP before, trust me you'll be fine. I felt comfortable within 2 minutes of getting on my board. The prices are reasonable and the duration is perfect. Our paddle was just under 2 hours. When you go bring water and hand your car keys to the instructor. I had a lesson with Ned yesterday morning - I have never paddle-boarded before and I am not comfortable in the water. It was such an enjoyable experience - Ned has so much patience and understanding. He never made me feel embarrassed, he just was super supportive, and every instruction just made my paddle trip easier. I got up, paddled around Lake Virginia, practiced falling off, then fell off! We went through a canal and made some turns. I am going on my Sunday morning - I can't wait I coach and teach for a living - Ned is a great teacher and person. I have never been paddleboarding before. Some friends and I rented paddleboards for two hours which is just enough time to paddle to one end of the lake and back, PLUS have time for a complimentary beer (which is fantastic). The boards are in good shape, they have drinks and places to store your stuff, interesting waterfront homes, and the lake has some wildlife (but no crocs that I saw). You definitely need to know how to swim as I fell off at least five times (but then again, my balance is probably crap, none of my other friends fell off). read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place! On Memorial Day, I was able to book a reservation for two paddleboard rentals for 2 hours on the same day! Super easy to book on their website and plenty of options available. Plus, I've done some research, they're one of the cheapest available spots for paddleboard rentals! (Cheaper than Groupon!!!) We met them about 15 minutes at their cute storefront and they prepped our rentals on the lake right outside their back door. They told us they would secure our bags and our shoes and we're even polite enough to give us a short private lesson on how to use the paddleboards for my first timer friend. They set them out for us on the lake and let us step into them without even getting in the water. At the moment that it was my friends turn to get on the board, she was incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of paddleboarding and the risk of falling off and jumped back into the dock fairly quickly. Thanks staff was incredibly friendly and understanding of her hesitation and tried to reassure her that she could try it sitting down. We almost left as I figured our reservation was for paddleboarding and they asked if we would like to go kayaking instead! She jumped at the idea, she was far more comfortable going kayaking. Without any hesitation, no extra charges or any waiting, we had two kayaks set up for us and away we went! The lake was beautiful, with a few little side canals to explore and overhanging trees. Like paddling through the little mermaid lagoon scene. We had a blast enjoying the gorgeous weather, the glass clear water and seeing all the stunning wildlife. Once we arrived back, they had someone come meet us to take out kayaks and help us out onto the dock. We jumped out, headed into the building to cool off and get our things and they offered us ice cold bottles of water and handed us our belongings and offered us a cupcake! I imagine the cupcake may have simply been because of a holiday. (cupcake not guaranteed is what I'm saying) They managed to turn what would have been an embarrassing moment for my buddy into one that she wants to do over and over again! I was up on my feet a little less than half the time because my knees were a little wobbly, but once I adjusted my stance forward to the balls of my feet, I was paddling! Such a great company! My bridesmaids and I enjoyed paddle boarding during a warm Friday afternoon. Since there was a large group of us, the employees had set out paddle boards prior to our arrival and were ready for us early. All we had to do was sign a waiver and go over instructions and we were ready to party! We were a little over our time due to the wind and the employees were super understanding. Since they didn't have a group after us, they let us stay out nearly 3 hours for free! Paddleboard Orlando sits on gorgeous Lake Killarney in Winter Park. While my party and I chose to paddleboard around the lake, the company also offers guided tours of Weikiva River and New Smyrna, as well as paddleboard yoga and kayaking adventures. They are professional and are flexible, especially with larger groups. I loved our experience with them and will definitely be going back for more fun! read more

Huge lake, great prices and wonderful staff that will help you with basic & everything. It's $25 for an hour and $35 for 2 hours. They also have kayaks to rent as well. Very quiet and relaxing here. Why 5 stars? Because all I want to do now is go Paddleboarding. --- --- --- This whole experience was amazing. I was in Orlando for the weekend, and while my girlfriend was running in a race, I needed to find something to occupy my time. A colleague suggested it, and I was sold! My only other experience paddleboarding was pretty minimal. I went out into a small lagoon, and casually scooted myself around for 10-15 minutes, and that was it. At Paddleboard Orlando, I quickly learned that this can be a little bit of a workout, if you want it to be. The group did not require us to go at a certain pace, but my competitive side forced me to see if I could be the fastest. It took all of my energy and concentration to do so. We happened to do the moonlight paddleboarding after enjoying some delicious eats from Chef Bob. The guys who worked there could be stand-up comedians. They were very helpful in explaining the basics to us newbies, but kept our attention with their hilarity. One of the guys claimed that he doesn't usually get "this many laughs," but I'm sure he says that to alllll the groups :) We got to our halfway point, and took a break. It was so peaceful to lay down on our boards in the middle of the moon light. It's like nothing else I've ever done. And on the trek back, part of me wanted to hurry up and see how quickly I could do it. Part of me wanted to never get back to shore because I didn't want the experience to end. And part of me was tired from paddling, so I was partially looking forward to our dessert cupcakes. Overall, mission accomplished. I can't wait to do this again. read more

Hubby and I came out Tuesday morning for paddleboarding. Btw... the shop is the last one in the plaza away from Trader Joe's. This was my first time paddle boarding and it was not bad. Got a 3 minute crash course of the basics. They load from a dock. The guy stabilized the board while I got onto the board on my knees. After getting a feel for balance, I was able to stand. The lake is pretty with water snake, fish, blue dragonflies, and water lilies. It does get a bit warm that you want to get there first thing in the morning! read more

Don't bother. I called ahead. They assured me no reservation. I said I'd be rolling by later (it was already 2:30). They said no problem. Nonetheless, because they had only an hour left in their day, they couldn't be bothered to pull down two boards and let us out on the water, "they were already cleaned up for the day" If you want to close at 3:45 close at 3:45. That aside, it's a lakeside venue with a busy parking lot. Short of getting a chance to just be out on the water there is no view or vista that'd make this place worthwhile. read more

Great group of guys on the day we went. They actually let us swap our paddleboard rental for a tandem kayak after our dog kept trying to swim back and forth between our boards in a panic. The location was very surprising as the lake is hidden behind all of the businesses. Once we were on the water though you almost forget you're in a big city! I cannot rave enough about Paddleboard Orlando. If you want to try something different and active, this is amazing!! Everyone I've seen try out paddle boarding has gotten on and up in no time, they're surprisingly sturdy unlike regular surfboards. The folks from PBO have demo days where you can come out and try paddling out which is great if you just want to test out your legs. They also have different tours where you paddle down a river, near manatees or dolphins or bio luminescence when it's in season. You can schedule private group events, lessons or just rent the boards and head out on your own. They even have yoga and boot camp classes centered on the board. I've tried just about all they have to offer and they all leave you feeling like you got a workout, had a few laughs and got a little closer to the environment. The folks that run this company are the nicest on the planet and my personal suggestions are the tours or yoga on water :) Get out and splash around!! read more

First let me start off with the staff that I have met, not sure if there might be more hidden behind the boards ... but Ned, Dave and Mike are such so awesome. Extremely friendly and willing to explain to you the basics and answer any questions you might have. As for the paddleboarding experience ... OMG ... I have been only twice, and am already hooked!! It is so much fun. It is relaxing. It is a good workout. It is just unbelievable. And don't think it is hard, it isn't. Yes, the first time you're on your legs might shake a little but then you will get your sea legs in no time. Joining Orlando Paddleboard for their paddle runs is so much fun!!! They make it fun!!! The paddleboard run is always a fun activity!!! Trying a handstand on the board, another fun activity. And with either ... you fall in the water ... who cares!!!! Had an awesome time learning how to paddleboard this morning! First off, just want to point out that 60 degrees ended up being perfect weather for paddleboarding. So don't stress our "chilly" Florida winter days. David was our instructor for the lesson and was very fun and helpful. I like that they go over all the safety basics before you hit the water. The location is awesome... the lake was nice and quiet, giving us plenty of space to work on our technique.
