She asked how I wanted them done, I asked for just a clean up as we both agreed that going thinner would not look good. I also have a very strong preference for Indian salons, as threading for eyebrows is a part of their culture. Finding an Indian-owned salon to get my brows done in South Jersey was hard, until I found Padma's. Voorhees has a wide variety of Indian-owned stores ranging from clothing, to food, to salons. Padma's offers many types of salon services and henna. I have now been going every few weeks for my brow threading over the course of several months. Padma's is located in a strip mall in Voorhees. It's not your average fancy or aesthetically-pleasing salon. However, it offers a good variety of salon/spa services as well as Indian wedding makeup. The women who work here are dedicated and do a great job. Because Padma's is well-staffed, they are able to accommodate a good number of customers at once. For eyebrow threading/waxing, appointments aren't required. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes to get my threading done. Overall, I really like this place. The women who work here all do a great job. While they're not focused on exceptional customer service, they still do their best to make conversation and be friendly. For anyone who is familiar with foreign-owned businesses, Padma's has some of that sentimental "back home" feel. Their pricing is also much lower than others in the area; they charge $6 for brows and $4 for upper lip. Girllllllll (or boy) I've been coming here for threading for about 4 years now and love it. Threading I started when going on accutane, a very intense medication for acne. When you are on it you CANNOT get waxed, so don't try I find threading last longer than waxing I can go a good 3-4 weeks and just do my own maintenance whereas waxing I felt married to every two weeks! As i walk in today, i was hesitant to sit at first. But it looks like they finally updated their chair paddings. Thank goodness! It looks much better. I still wish they just used non wicker chairs. It was about noon when i came in and there was about 4 women ahead of me. Thought i could easily walk in and out. This is a really great place. All the staff are very welcoming, and they treat customers like they're part of the family. I've gotten my eyebrows threaded here with Bhanu, who was amazing and made sure my eyebrows were exactly how I wanted them, even though it meant spending longer on me. I've heard Neetu is good also, but I've also heard Bhanu does Neetu's eyebrows, so it's hard to go wrong. They also have neat little privacy curtains, so it doesn't feel like you're getting your eyebrows threaded assembly-line style, like in some other salons I've been to. I've gotten haircuts and colors here, once an ombre and once highlights. Both were fantastic, very efficiently and professionally done. The blow-drys I've gotten here have been consistently good. For the price especially, they go way above and beyond. The facials leave my (very dry) skin feeling hydrated, and it's a pretty relaxing way to spend an hour or thirty minutes. Overall, this is a great family salon, with good prices and attentive staff. I always feel welcome here, even if I'm just getting a trim or something. I used to go to Padma's every single time I came home from school (holiday vacations, summer break, etc). It was always quick, inexpensive, never a long wait, and my eyebrows turned out fabulous! The price for eyebrow threading has slowly crept up over the past few years, but that is understandable. And the price is still WAY better than $20 charged for waxing in the area. The last few times I went, I did not have pleasant experiences. In all the years I had been getting my eyebrows threaded (about 7 years at this point), threading was never a painful experience. But the last few times, the ladies I had were very abrasive with the threading. At first, I thought, "Oh well maybe because she was a new lady". But then the next few times, I saw ladies that had done my eyebrows plenty of times before. There was just no excuse for why I had small scabs around my eyebrows from the abrasive threading. I gave Padma's a few more chances even after the first unpleasant experience. But after the 2nd or 3rd time, I was not satisfied with having "great looking eyebrows....with small scabs around them". So, I have to bump them down a few stars. I think they've been hiring really inexperienced people, because the last 2-3 times I came, my eyebrows were worse afterwards than when I came in. And, this is coming from a person that hasn't had it done in like 2 months, so I was already coming in with them very bad. How bad could they get right?!? Well, the first mess up, she took off way too much and I was left with a bald spot that I had to fill in everyday with makeup to make them look presentable. Threading hurts less than waxing bc your'e not ripping off a layer of epidermis in the process. Plus you can get more shape from your brow if you thread. I highly recommend the experience. Plus you can walk in with a picture of what you're aiming for and over time the threading experts can shape and work you toward it. Am a month old in NJ and this is a very honest review,I have been to PADMA BEAUTY SALON exactly 10 days earlier for a cut and color. Padma handled my cut . All i asked was short spikes in front and over all trimming (all natural). I do believe pictures are better than 1000 words so i showed her my pictures ( these pics are only meant for hair cuts not the casual ones ).And explained everything in detail. At this point she absolutely paid no attention to what i was saying. When she was trimming, it was harsh she was poking with it on the back of head( Later i was bleeding towards the end of the hair cut). Since i have repeatedly told her not to shave instead only trim the lower back of head / Neck area ( and leave it natural) i trusted her professionalism( Mentioned her that i had a major business meet ). Then she started shaving my neck area..... Am pretty sure in last 20 years this is the first time some one shaved that place....... in the neck area she shaved 3.5 inches and in the sides behind my ear she shaved almost 2 inches. To give you better idea i can put two of fingers behind my ear (Sides) and 4 fingers( still some area left ) behind my head where my is Bald . Now it exactly looks like someone stuck something on my head ( possibly Hair) , It more looked artificial than natural. Imagine hair short / no spikes / sides 2 inches and neck area 3. 5 inches No Hair ........ Its a Nightmare!!!!!!!! Am extremely patient by nature asked her " WHAT IS THIS " in a very diplomatic way explaining by putting two fingers on back of my ear and still there was some space left ( If i wore a cap no one can tell that i have hair ..........it looked like a black patch on my head.............. Exactly like a " Cap" ). This is the Best part she replied , " I shaved it back of your ear no one can see you, she called one of her helper asked her the same " "This is how we have been giving hair cuts for years "............I replied her that Hair cuts are customized not standard ones which is applicable to every one .............. and PADMA replied " what you want me to do now "...... Well Madam if you are listening " KINDLY PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CUSTOMERS NEXT TIME" . Color was night mare too.... they did not get the right shade in spite of telling many times .... and one can see a lot of grey hair . Then immediately I went to a different place .....They could not help much but some how leveled it ( they did their best ) still nothing much changed.I did attended my Business meet following Monday. And started working from home until my hair started growing back . This happened exactly 10 days back . Am going to a different place for color and cut just to level them .. ( my hair is not completely grown back yet but it would help it to blend in ) AT Last PADMA offered me to cut the price from 28$ to 15 $ , Which i politely declined payed the full price .( I did not pay the tips as i was extremely angry ). This place is cheaper compared to others but really a nightmare for me . Best part was she was not apologetic nor seem to understand how it effects us on our daily life . read more

I went to Padma's today to get my eyebrows threaded. My eyebrows were is really bad shape and having recently started working in the area I decided to give this place a try. I can't tell you how happy I am with the end result! I am not exaggerating when I say I don't think my eyebrows ever looked better. Yay! I finally got my eyebrows done by Nitu. Let me tell you, my eyebrows were sisters when I walked in. When I walked out, they became twins. She did a great job re-shaping my eyebrows and thinning it. I highly recommend Nitu. She really puts the time and effort when threading. I'll have to be honest though. I usually get my eyebrows done by another lady. She does an okay job. I've been really hesitant to come lately, but I gave it another shot, and got my eyebrows done with Nitu instead. -Ask for a new cotton ball! read more

Having moved to a new area - I was looking for a good reliable salon nearby and a friend - who happens to be a long time customer of Padma's referred me to them. Eyebrow threading is just the way it's supposed to be. Evaline (I think that's what she said) gave me the best Indian hot oil massage in US so far. Its really relaxing and beneficial for your hair - try it the next time you go in there. I also had her wax my legs and arms and again no flaws spotted whatsoever. Biggest issue I normally face in getting a haircut is finding a place that consistently gives me the same haircut at a good price. I only recently figured out that this salon does men's hair cuts so I decided to give it a try. Padma's salon always does a great job for a cheaper price than others in the area.
