I got a facial here for the first time this past July. After my facial in July, I just thought facials weren't my thing. But my husband booked me another facial somewhere else today and it wasn't until then that I realized how poor my experience was at Aloha. We booked the hour and 20 minute facial. I can't remember much or what they did but I do remember sitting in silence with no one in the room with me for 30 mins of my session while the mask set on my face. The place I went today filled that time with a massage, nice conversation, and more spa treatments. At aloha, I was so bored sitting there that I started doing ab workouts with all my free time. I came back expecting the same experience. The lash technician was rude. She didn't take the time to explain anything. I guess it was time for closing so somebody came in the room and started sweeping the floors in the middle of it all, which kind of ruined the experience. It seemed like the technician was rushing, since she finished in 45 minutes--and it didn't look good. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for this place! I went to get my first set of eyelash extensions put on (I used the groupon) and the staff could not have been more pleasant! The atmosphere is clean and relaxing and the staff made sure you were comfortable. I was a little nervous at first, but soon realized that the eyelash extension process was no big deal. I told my technician that I wanted them to look natural and she did a wonderful job! She was quick and the process went smoothly. I've been to this spa twice so far and I'll keep going back. I orginally bought a Groupon deal for a microdermabrasion treatment and after laying down Sophia gave me some advice that really helped. She told me that the treatment wouldn't do any good in the end because i have lots if tiny unseen pimples so i took her advice and got an acne facial instead and was so happy I did! My face is so smooth after and hydrated plus I haven't been getting breakouts from it. So I'll go back after a few more facials and get the microdermabrasion :) The place is relaxing and clean. Upon my arrival, I was greeted promptly and taken right to the room. The tech (I believe she said her name was Jenny) asked me to lay down and began working on me right away! I explained that this was my first time and had a few questions before we started. My questions went unanswered and I was done in about an hour (even though I was told it would take 1.5-2hrs). Sophia is professional esthetician and sensitively meticulous with her custom facials as she always carefully inspects my skin for the most effective facial. The ladies where kinda catty. I had a busy day running errands and I I know wasn't looking my best but I was really looking forward to my facial and relaxing for an hour. Unfortunately I couldn't. I can tell ladies where talking about me the moment I walked in and how I looked. This place is new to the area. I love the ambience of it and Sophia was amazing! I received a one hour facial which included a shoulder, upper back, and neck massage. Sophia was so gentle on my face with the facial that I was pleasantly surprised of the amount pressure she used in the massage. It felt amazing! I am always sore in my neck and shoulders so the massage was exactly what I needed. Nothing was rushed at all and Sophia was thorough and meticulous with her work. I have acne prone skin that's recently improved, but I'm self-conscious about my scarring (it's taking forever to heal!!). First time getting lash extensions. Used a Groupon to give it a try. Located on Haddon Ave, parking was easy on a Sunday. Place was modern, clean and had a relaxing atmosphere. Loved how quiet it was with just the spa music. The person doing my lashes was courteous & patient. I feel she did a great job and I've gotten lots of compliments. In comparing to the daily care of lashes, I've heard others given much more detailed instructions & encouraged to buy brushes and cleanser. I was just told just to avoid water on my eyes for 24 hours and to never use oils around the eyes. (Maybe the other places are only trying to sell extra products for care??) This place is okay for lashes. I would recommend using a groupon to get a first try to see how you like it. It is a hit or miss with the people who do your lashes how they turn out. Some people listen and ask what you're looking for (dramatic/natural) and tell you about the length of the lashes they're using (13/14mm), some also don't and just do it without asking your opinion. The most recent time I'm pretty sure they used the same length of lashes for my entire eye and if you wear false lashes a lot, many of them get shorter towards the inner corner of your eye to look more natural if that makes any sense. They made me withdraw from the ATM to pay them which was a first for me at this place recently. Said it was a $1 fee, turns out it was $3 according to my bank account. They should have just said over the phone to bring cash because it was a considerable amount that I wouldn't have normally on me. The ambience is nice at least. I've done lashes at this place a few times just because it's the closest and I guess most reasonably priced. Today i got eyelash extensions. I used a groupon i purchased. When I arrived I was promptly taken back. After about 10 seconds of questions and trying to explain what I wanted my eyelashes to look like, I lay down to get started. Application was nice. Nikki left the room a few times never washing her hands or changing her gloves after hearing her rifle through tools where I assume were somewhere outside the door of where I was laying. She definitely took her time. Much more time on one eye then the other. I heard the next client come which I assume is why my one eye took about 20 mins and the other over an hour. When she was done she handed me a mirror that I checked out really quickly and they looked nice. I tipped her $30 since the Groupon said to tip on regularly priced service which was $150 for full set of lashes. Now that I am home upon closer inspection, one eye is way thicker then the other. It's almost like one eye got a full set and the other was half. When my eyes are open they touch my eyebrows and I asked for them to be a little longer then my own and naturally tapered. Not what I got. Now I leave for my honeymoon in the morning and can't get this corrected. I will not be going back. Went for a couples massage for Valentine's Day, and was given separate rooms at first. My husband and I told them we wanted to be in the same room (the whole point of a couples massage) and the girl gave us an attitude about having to 'reset it up'. When I had called a few weeks ago and spoke to Sophia and actually wrote down that it was $110 for the price. At the end they then tried to charge us $130 and I had to complain. Went to this place about a year ago for eyelash extensions. I got it's through Groupon and lived in the area. My eyes were very irritated and in pain the first time but just chalked it up as a first time issue so I went back for a second fill. My eyes got even more red and more painful. I eventually went to the doctor and found out I had an infection. I currently go to a place in philly and have no problems with my eyes. The technician wasn't wearing gloves or a mask. I came here this past weekend to have lash extensions put on for the first time ever. Upon walking in, everything looked really clean and up kept. I was greeted right away and was asked if I would like to use the restroom before my appointment began. I actually got taken back a few minutes earlier than my appointment was scheduled for, which was nice. I was brought into a private room with the door shut and lied down on the bed. My tech was very kind to me, she asked me if i preferred a more natural look or a more long glamorous look. I went with the long ones! The whole process took about an hour and half, I mostly just napped and relaxed during it. It was a completely painless process and my lashes look amazing! She advised me of the aftercare when she was done and sent me home with a clean spoolie to brush my lashes with! Overall a very positive experience, I am thoroughly enjoying my lashes! Let me start by saying DONT DO IT. purchased a Groupon for a microdermabrasion plus a deep cleansing facial with a value of $128. I had read another review where someone had purchased the same one, and they had the same experience I did. They were unable to perform the microdermabrasion and recommended I get the acne treatment instead. However, I was unable to use the Groupon even though the acne treatment was of a lesser value than the original of $128. We settled on a regular facial in which my Groupon was magically able to be used for. This consisted of the popping of every single one of my pimples- today they are whiteheads and my face looks worse!!!! Nothing has ever been so unpleasant, and now I fear will break out even more due to the spread of bacteria from all of the popping. I feel as though it was a con, as I haven't seen anyone actually able to get the microdermabrasion they paid for through Groupon. read more

I first found Aloha spa through their Groupon deal for mink eyelash extensions. After reading all of the positive feedback, I knew it was a steal and had to try it for myself. The lash technician was very informative as it was my first time getting lash extensions done so I was a bit nervous about the whole process and end result. She helped me pick out the right length for my lashes (ie. short, medium, long) so that it still gives the natural, no-makeup look that I wanted. The 2-hr session was so relaxing that I barely felt a thing as she was meticulously putting each individual lash on and I almost fell asleep a few times. She was very professional and gave me easy tips on how to care and maintain the lashes. The result of her work went above my expectations when I was finally able to open my eyes. I opted for the medium length and it gives just the right amount of volume without looking overdone. I was so impressed with her work that she also sold me on getting the rehydration facial deal (buy 5, 6th one free). I've already gotten many compliments on how naturally pretty they look and how they just enhance the eyes. This has become my new favorite spot for some pampering and relaxation. I bought a GroupOn for 3 microdermabrasion facials at Aloha Beauty Spa to hopefully do some good for my skin a little before my wedding. The first time I went, the girl was so rough with her massage; I knew I'd feel it the next day. A week later, that pain had become so severe, I had to go to urgent care.. I was having awful muscle spasms. My back still hurt 2 weeks later when I foolishly went back for facial #2. I told the girl I did not want a massage that time, and so she obliged. During the extractions of my facial, a second woman came in, and as she did them, was lecturing me on how I should live my life. And then she did it again when I was buying a mask from her at the end. I left practically in tears feeling awful about myself 2 weeks before getting married. I visited Aloha Beauty Spa for eyelashes via Groupon in May 2017. The service I received was great. I wish I could remember the woman who did my eyelashes. She was excellent. Her customer service and the place itself was excellent. Because of this level of service, I decided to come back before I headed out to celebrate my birthday weekend March 2018. I was put in less cozier room which wasn't such a big deal. It was just a smaller room than the last time I was there. The woman (different than before)who was about do my eyelashes stated that she see that I haven't been there before. I told her that I have. That is when she told me that I was unable to pay with Groupon again because this is not my first time here. I told her that on Groupon it does not state that in their disclaimer. She said she she knows and that Groupon always does this. She told me that I would have to lay $99 and ask Groupon for a refund. I asked that I do not do that because there was not guarantee that they will refund me. I told her I was willing to pay the difference of the Groupon and their cost. The woman stated that she still did not want to do that because she said Groupon would take a chunk of the money. After a minute of going back and forth, she agreed to me paying the difference. This time I got my eyelashes done I was not as pleased with the results. I feel like the process was rushed and the same level of care was not given the second time. She even stated since I've been there I should know how to care for them, but she did decide to go over the care plan. Once finished, as I was going to lay the difference the woman pointed over to the tip jar asking for a tip; something that was not done my previous visit. I did tip the woman but I did not tip her as much as I would especially after the service I received. My eyelashes started shedding the very next day. Last time it started shedding a week later. For the first visit, I would rate this place a 5. This past visit, I would rate it a 1. I would just be mindful of the Groupon and request someone else if you come across this technician. read more
