    Thai Iced Coffee

The pad thai was totally delicious and I really enjoyed it. It came out very hot and fresh. It comes with chicken, shrimp, and egg but it can be substituted for Beef, Duck, Seafood, or Tofu. The flavor was great and it was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a Thai iced coffee, which was not very sweet and was strong. I tried the Thai iced tea my friend ordered and it was much sweeter and milkier, so if you prefer something less strong I would choose that option. There is plenty of seating and free water. The prices were very reasonable too. It was $12 or 13 for the pad thai and the portion was great. I would definitely come back!

I am so glad to have tried out PadThai Cafe. I miss eating at no frills restaurants and this place definitely hits the spot. Food was delicious. Pad thai was sweet and flavorful and the avocado smoothie was creamy and lightly sweet. I thought the soup was okay in terms of flavor, but it was very warm and made sense on a cold day. This is a self service restaurant, but the cashier is friendly. The best part is the prices are super reasonable for Boston. I will be sure to come back here whenever I am craving yummy thai food.

I went here with a friend before attending a concert at Fenway. There isn't a ton of seating, I am guessing most of their business is takeout. The food was good, I would say average for Thai - not the best, not the worst. The menu had a good selection, likely anything you are looking for. Counter service was fine. Just fine. Everything was fine lol. So overall - decent but didn't knock my socks off like the concert afterwards did.

    Country style pad thai

Tldr; Their country pad thai is the best pad thai of my life. This place is quite authentic! A good deal of their menu is in Thai. I ordered the *country style* pad Thai after staring at some photos on Yelp. Take my word -- this was the tastiest, best pad Thai I've ever eaten in my life so far. I finished my plate in 10 min while it was piping hot. The photo speaks for itself. Look at that color. Let's start with the lime -- it was super fresh and juicy. The plate came piping right off the wok with all that wok hei. The rice noodle texture -- thin, chewy, and each noodle enveloped in sweet, savory umami that was also the right amount of spicy (very hot). All ingredients extremely fresh and perfectly cooked. Shrimp was succulent and perfectly cooked, a long with the chicken breast. Came with fried tofu bits too. Drooling right now as I write this. Boston is so blessed with amazing Thai food. :''') When I'm back here in a few days, I'll be leaving with two orders, because I only paid $14 for this masterpiece.

Food: 9.3/10 Packing: 9.5/10 Quantity: 8.5/10 Bang for Buck: 9.3/10 I am SHOCKED that this place doesn't have better ratings. This was one of the BEST pad see ew and Penang curry I've had in my life. The quantity of noodles was slightly below my expectations, but the quantity of the curry more than made up for it. Reasonably priced - must give this a try. I used DoorDash to order.

Minimal ambiance but offers some of the best Thai food in Boston. Very moderately priced. Large menu caters to Asian students.

The restaurant was casual, but nice, and had several other tables of diners at that time. The staff was very friendly, as well. The menu had some really interesting dishes that I had not seen elsewhere, but I was lame and ordered my usual - Chicken Pad See Ew. I found the poultry to be very tender, and the included broccoli was fresh and crisp. I should note that the broccoli used was the popular Calabrese kind, while Chinese broccoli cost $1 more. In fact, there were several upcharges scattered around the menu, which was a bit much. Anyway, back to the dish...In addition to the broccoli, carrots were also included, which was not typical for Pad See Ew, but I was fine with it! The sweet soy sauce was a bit thick, like a light gravy, so that was a bit unusual, but the flavor was terrific! I heard reasonably positive things about their Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles as well. Thaitation would be a place I would frequent if I lived in the area.

Noise levels were low for most of the meal, but at one point turned up to blast a rendition of "happy birthday" for another guest - after that, music stayed a bit too loud, which seemed to clash with the otherwise calm ambiance. They didn't ask for our preferred spice levels for the main dishes, and I would've liked everything a little bit spicier. We originally wanted the salmon spring rolls but they were out. We got Tod Mun (fried fish cakes) instead, and they were really tasty. They were smaller but greater in quantity than what I've seen elsewhere, and the sauce was good. I'm not a huge fan of the side salads, though this one surprised me with the spiciness in the dressing. We ordered the mango curry (which comes with chicken, and we added steamed tofu for no charge) and tofu drunken noodles. The noodles were really good, plus looked more appetizing than the similarly-popular pad thai. I was hoping the mango in the curry would be large, beautiful pieces of sweet mango on top, so I was a little disappointed that the small chunks weren't quite as flavorful as I was hoping for. However, I was still quite happy with the dish overall. It also comes with a (pretty small) bowl of rice on the side. The food by itself would be 4 stars for me, except that at the very end of my meal, as I was polishing off the curry, I found a long hair stuck to the bottom of my plate. It didn't match ours, so I know for sure it came from the staff. I know it happens, but the ick factor is hard to get over. Knocked off a star for the unfortunate hair.

We walked into a modest, no frills dining room that feels like a neighborhood staple, with a steady stream of regulars and students who have clearly figured out that this kitchen does something different. The pad see ew is a reliable order and the kitchen handles it well, with the wide rice noodles picking up enough wok char to give the dish the slightly smoky edge that makes or breaks it. The basil fried rice is another strong everyday order, fragrant and well seasoned with a heat level that comes through clearly without overwhelming the rest of the flavors, and the hint of spice carries through each bite in a way that makes it hard to stop eating. Both dishes are the kind of thing you come back for not because they are revelatory but because the execution is consistently solid and the portion sizes are generous enough to make the value feel right. The roti canai is worth ordering as a starter, flaky and well made with a curry dipping sauce that sets a good tone for the meal before the mains arrive. Beyond those three, the larb moo grob is the dish that the restaurant is most known for and the one most worth trying on a first visit, with the crispy pork and the herb forward dressing hitting the kind of authentic Isaan flavor that is nearly impossible to find elsewhere in the city. The Tom Yum and khao man gai are both excellent and worth working into the order if you are eating with a group. Service is straightforward and efficient, with the staff moving quickly to get orders out even when the dining room fills up. The pace is casual and the focus stays on the food rather than the atmosphere, which fits the neighborhood spot energy well. For an authentic taste of northeastern Thai cooking in Allston, Laughing Monk Cafe delivers on the dishes that matter most.

I had never heard of this dish before but it quickly became a favorite in my household and we always order at least one order of it. Basically, it is described as "thin egg noodles with Thai style roast pork, fish balls, chinese broccoli, bean sprouts, and topped with crispy wonton." It is AMAZING. On top of what's listed, it comes with ground pork in the noodles and a sweet and savory sauce that perfectly coats the egg noodles. There are 3 different kinds of fish balls - a shrimp one, a whitefish one, and a fried one, as well as peanuts, deliciously juicy roast pork (char sew), and the crispy wontons add that perfect extra texture and crunch. Man, if I could eat this every week I would. Easily a 5/5 - this is the only place I've seen this dish and it is out of this world. The rest of the menu is also great, but you absolutely have to try the Ba Mee Song Kruang if you come here.
