I had to come here twice, as the first time I was here I'd had a few drinks, and was at the stage where anything would have tasted amazing! Luckily, my sober visit confirmed what I suspected, that this is a really, really good place to go for pizza. What's great is that it's quick without being fast food, busy without being impossible to get a table, cheap without being nasty, and casual but not lazy. It uses the space well, with a load of different sized tables meaning that any size group can get a table without much hassle, and is laid out in such a way that you're not on top of the other folk that are there. It also looks nice, and has an atmosphere without being overpoweringly noisy. The staff are also pretty friendly, and service is pretty speedy considering how many people are there. The pizzas are the main attraction though, and they are fantastic. A good size (10 inch?), which means you can get through one without feeling overly full, they aren't packed with toppings, but the ones that are there are so full of flavour that you don't really notice. For example, I had the chorizo special, which on first look wasn't hugely covered in toppings, but the pizza tasted amazing, and I definitely didn't feel short changed. All of this is served on a great base pizza, which for me has the right consistency (a decent amount of dough but still pretty thin), crispiness (actually quite soft, but you can still hold a pice without all of the topping sliding off, and eating a full pizza won't rip the top of your mouth off) and tomato base. The desserts are great as well, and are well worth keeping some space for. There are traditional soft scoop ice creams, as well as some specials that are worth a look. As far as city centre pizza places go, this is probably the top of the pile, I really can't think of anywhere that competes with this. read more

Want to try what just might be the best pizza in Glasgow? Of course you do. So I'd recommend getting yourself down to Paesano as quickly as possible. I ambled in with a group of 5 other desperately hungry Yelpers a couple of weekends ago on the recommendation of Rocco G and his tip was right on the mark. First up it was great that they were able to sit 6 of us immediately at 7ish on a Saturday night. That might normally lead to questions about the quality of the food but in this case is due to the size of the place and the speed of the service (more on that later). Once we were seated all eyes were on the menu as we wanted to order quickly. The menu is simple, offering 8 pizzas (along with a couple of daily specials) and a few sides (definitely try the balsamic onions), so it didn't take us long to decide. The pizza choices are also relatively simple, with only one or two toppings on each, but I'm not one for overloading a pizza and prefer something straightforward where the ingredients speak for themselves. I decided on the pizza with spicy salami and a pint of draught Moretti. Like the food menu the drinks options aren't extensive but there's a reasonable choice of wine and beer. Now began the wait for the food we all wanted so badly..... I've can genuinely say I've rarely been as happy and surprised to see my food arrive hardly 5 minutes later. Apparently their traditional Italian wood-fired ovens cook the pizzas in only 90secs. Joy! The pizza itself was delicious, a perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside base (with those lovely slightly charred spots you get on a properly cooked pizza) and simple but high-quality toppings. The salami was, indeed, pretty spicy but also super tasty. Not for the faint hearted! I also tried a bit pizza with the fennel sausage which was also fantastic and I think what I'll order on my next visit. Even though we were all pretty stuffed after our pizza a few of us couldn't resist the call of ice cream for desert. The choices are simple here again with the options mainly vanilla ice cream with a variety of sauces but there are daily specials here too. The ice cream with good and an ideal indulgence after the pizza. Sealing the deal on the 5 stars was the service, which was friendly and fast, and the prices which were incredibly reasonable for the quality of the food. All in all it was quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy and a great dining experience, I can't wait to go back! I visited the recently opened Paesano on late Saturday afternoon as I wanted pizza. To be fair, who wouldn't want pizza? Pizza is the greatest food group there is. I saw some photos of the pizza on twitter and it looked rather good. I was not disappointed. Along with the normal menu, they have a specials board with a meat and veggie option. I tried Spiniata spicy salami from Calabria with tomato sugo, mozzarella and evoo (£7) and Prosciutto cotto (Italian cooked ham) with portobello mushrooms, tomato sugo, mozzarella, fresh thyme and evoo (£8). I wasn't quite sure what size of pizza we'd be met with but holy moly they were HUGE! As they are cooked in a woodfire pizza oven, from ordering to eating, I'm pretty sure it was less than 10 minutes. The pizzas were SO good. The crust was so light and fluffy, like giant fluffy pizza clouds. I also ordered a mixed salad on the side (£2.50) and we got a bowl, full to the brim of salad leaves, tomatoes and red onions. Delicious accompaniment to the pizza. After finishing the pizza, I wanted dessert. We tried the Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream (£4). The Apple Pie was delicious, but would have preferred it had been warmed. Love the Mr Whippy style ice cream too but at £3 for a "big whip" it is a little steep on it's own! I want to go back, there are lots of pizzas I need to try and even better.... you can customize your pizza too! The decor reminded me of a rather hipster pizza joint in London. Legit went here three times in the last two weeks when my parents were here visiting (they went an extra time alone after my boyfriend and I went home for the night). Being a bit of a pizza snob, I heard all my Yelper friends checking it out and it was a block away from the flat my parents rented while in town, so why not? First of all, the location is amazing. Off the beaten track, but still close enough to everything that's happening that it doesn't seem too out of the way. The staff all work incredibly hard to keep things running smoothly- my dad noticed that the most every time we went. We were always quick to be seated, even when the place was pretty packed. I went once with my parents alone and then twice the boyfriend joined us after work. Each time we were seated somewhere new in the place, the staff, warm and welcoming. We each tried ordering a different pizza each visit, but there was one that stood out for me, and gladly swapped pieces with anyone else who ordered it: the fennel sausage pizza. I ordered it as it came once and then again with spinach and mushrooms. If there's one thing I miss living in Glasgow, that's Italian sausage. We've made some at home, but it's a rare occasion to find it in a grocery store or a restaurant. Some of the other pizzas ordered, the courgette pizza, the prosciutto pizza, the panchetta special pizza and a pizza with veg and ricotta. To be honest, we never had a bad pizza. In fact, I dream about this pizza on a nightly basis and can't wait to go back. They have chili oil and chili flakes for those of you who like to spice up your lives through your food. Along with the pizzas, we ordered salads, olives, tomatoes with onions and loads of different drinks. We also ordered ice cream, which tasted like University Cafe ice cream and chocolate tart and ice cream, which was also spot on. This place is top notch and I hope it becomes a Glasgow institution for proper Italian pizza with proper Italian ingredients. I am a huge fan, as are my parents and boyfriend. I think it was on Yelp that I first heard about this new pizza place and I signed up on their website to hear more about their launch. Last week I was super chuffed to get an invite + 1 to the launch night party and was asked to pick a time slot. Me and my dining partner for the night Mr T turned up at 6 and were met with a warm welcome and shown to a seat at the back of the restaurant. It wasn't the best seat in the house, and although the place was busy at this point there were other seats we would have preferred. Not ones to complain we took our seats and were somewhat pleased that we could pick from the main menu. Is this for free we whispered to each other .... eh yes everything was on the house. Like kids in a sweetie shop we resisted the urge to say one of everything ( I suspect that might have been pushing it), and ordered a few drinks - Diet Coke and a beer. The waitress was Italian and super lovely and genuine. I opted for the tomato sugo - their stonebaked in the oven super quick pizza with tomato sauce and garlic only, which was a good veggie option and would be fab for vegans. I added some extra mushies and onions which wasn't a problem. Mr T went for one of their classics - can't remember what it was, but it had mozzarella and ricotta. We also opted for a few sides (come on they were free) and I had a side salad whilst Mr T had some mozzarella, pesto and tomato (there was a name for this which alludes me - I'm typing and its late here :)) Anyway, onto the pizzas which came super fast (they cook in minutes apparently). The base was really delicious - nice and doughy without being stodgy and normally a cheeseless pizza would be in danger of being bland, but this was full of flavour. Mr T happily tucking into his cheese pizza which again looked all fresh and lovely. We weren't expecting to get a full pizza each let alone the offer of dessert, but we couldn't resist trying the icecream with choc sauce and the chocolate cake. The choc cake whilst normally my main love, wasn't that special to be honest - a bit dry but I think that might be Italian style. However, the icecream was nice, as was the sauce and all rounded off the meal lovely. Mr T also had another drink - a free wine this time! Throughout the evening the place became busier and we both couldn't believe how generous the place was at giving away so much great and free food and drink. We were offered another round of drinks or anything else we wanted. and I think had we asked for another pizza they would have happily obliged. A few minor quibbles - whilst the place is lovely inside all modern wood and lights, there only seemed to be one toilet which seemed a poor show for such a nice place. The menu is pretty small but I don't think thats a bad thing - it is a pizza place after all. The pizza I enjoyed but it wasn't the hottest which I think is just because they cool so quickly after a short blast of heat. Happily stuff crusted we headed for the door with our left over pizza in a box under our arm, half expecting to be stopped and asked to pay - but nope ! What a treat! Prices on the menu are really very reasonable and the pizza by far one of the best I've had. Theres other places nearby which I don't doubt do a great pizza, but Paesano Pizza really does deserve to be a success if this great launch night is anything to go by. read more

A group of us headed out for pizza on Saturday and as Rocco G had been raving about how good this place is I was expecting big things. First thing that was amazing was the speed of service throughout the meal. We were seated, served and brought our pizzas in exceptionally fast time. It was excellent as I was starving. They also cleared out the tables quick but I did not mind that. I think they must have a big focus on the speed they turn around the tables. The menu is small and simple. Complete focus is on the pizzas and other than a few small sides you have no other options to choose from. Thankfully the pizzas are excellent so it's unlikely you would want to choose anything else. They are thin base, low on toppings and cheese, high on taste and authenticity. The bread base itself was brilliant, more like a flat bread than a normal pizza base. After pizza I still had room for dessert and they again have a small but quirky range of ice cream and cake. The former had 99 cones and oysters that you would normally see in a ice cream van rather than a restaurant, but I loved this idea and went with a 99 cone. The ice cream was perfect, sweet and indulgent. I loved it. Beer wise the range was not huge but they had a few Italian options and also a joker IPA. I loved my meal here. The prices are exceptionally reasonable. You can get a beer and a pizza for a tenner. Great to see somewhere not ripping people off just cause they can. The pizza itself is addictive. Beautiful, traditional, vegan-friendly pizza. Heaven! Had heard nothing but good things about this place and was so excited to try it. Met up with a friend yesterday after work to sample their cheese-less pizza (number one). Their bases are traditional sourdough, so contain no egg or dairy. Yay! The place itself is amazingly decorated. Really love the look and feel of the place. It's much bigger than I expected it to be too. Really spacious and minimal. I misread the menu and thought that any additional toppings were 50p each, they could probably be a bit more specific about topping prices. Then again, I should have noticed and asked. Doh! I added mushrooms, roasted red pepper and spinach. My pizza already have evoo (extra virgin olive oil), garlic and sugo on it. It would have been amazing with just those toppings but I was absolutely starving and felt like I needed more. When the pizza arrived, the smell and look of it was absolutely incredible. It was love at first bite. I haven't tasted a pizza as good as this for a long time. The base was perfect, not too crisp and not too chewy. All of the toppings and seasonings were spot on too. I even ordered another pizza to take home for Graeme, as I knew he would be equally impressed. If it wasn't for the toppings, my pizza and a soft drink would have come in at £7. This is so cheap. My toppings were £1.50 and bumped the price up quite a bit. Was worth the price though. There was a slight mix up with one of the toppings on the extra pizza I ordered, but that was quickly sorted. Could and should be 5 star. But I'll explain my reasons for dropping a star later in the review. Atmosphere is very laid back, with benches. Ideal for going with a group of friends. It's pizza joint that does good food fast. Do not come here expecting a fine dining intimate experience. It was perfect for our occasion of pre gig food and drinks. To start we had Olives to share between 3 of us, they were big and fleshy although lacked a little bit of a punch. The order was taken and pizza delivered to us in less than 5 minutes. The oven must be insanely hot. I went for the spicy salami, this was almost a 5 star pizza, the crust delicious, crisp yet chewy and full of flavour, the toppings fresh and tasty BUT the pizza didn't hold its shape well. Whether it's because it was ever so slightly undercooked or because of the fresh ingredients on the base I felt the middle of the pizza, which turns out to be the first bite you take of a slice was too soft and moist and led to pizza droop. When I come again I would ask for it to be kept in the oven a fraction more to make it slightly more crisp to see if that solves the issue. Wine should be served in wine glasses NOT TUMBLERS. I'm not a big fan of social trends that are less enjoyable than traditional methods. This is one of those trends that 'gets my goat'. A few of us called by for pizza on Saturday evening. Even though the restaurant was busy we where seated straight away. The menu here is simple and cheap as chips, there aren't many places in Glasgow where you could go out at the weekend and have a main meal & drink for around £10. To starting ordered the side of balsamic onions even though they where nice they didn't taste as strong as the ones I'm used to. For my main course pizza I ordered the fresh Tuscan fennel, sausage with tomato sugo & mozzarella, this was a full flavour pizza where you could actually taste all the ingredients added. After the main course I chose the vanilla ice cream with Amarena cherries. The food here is quite good and good value, only downside was that the staff where rather trigger happy, too quick to snatch your plate before you put the cutlery down. read more

Its really all about that dough. Crackly, crusty, chewy..it marks all the copacetic Cs. The wood fired oven is its own authentic spectacle. But a place with the right oven does not always make the right pizza. This one however, does and the dough might well be inimitable elsewhere in the city. I went with the no. 2: sugo with buffalo mozzarella and basil; as well as the daily special of pancetta & artichoke. No. 2 pizza was simple & delicious, the special was a tad salty for my liking. Sicilian red was delicious and a great accompaniment to the pizza. They take pride in their imported flour and tomato sauce from Italy. My skepticism for the need of its import was quickly overtaken with my first bite. The flour apparently does make the difference, or its just spectacular Italian dough making skills. Combination of private tables and big community tables. Very simple menu, just a few different pizzas, but top quality ingredients, a killer pizza dough, fresh sauces, judicious quantities of quality cheeses, quality meats, and a wood fired oven. Pizza! Proper pizza! That's what you get in Paesano. Proper perfect Paesano pizza. We rocked up at prime time on a Saturday evening... I was doubtful we were getting a table for 6! But I was wrong this place is much bigger inside than you expect. Basic tables with cutlery in the middle, really cool lighting. Very relaxed atmosphere... I've decided already that I like it! Small menu which I also liked, and I went for the cheese and herb pizza. Nicely cooked in a proper pizza oven. I also went for a size of olives which were massive and delicious. I did manage to have a try of Donald M's balsamic onions....they were right up my street The rest of the party went for ice creams and I kinda which I did as they looked epic but I opted for an espresso instead. Being from the USA, I wasn't expecting much from pizza in Scotland, but they had great reviews so we gave it a shot. It may have been the best pizza I've ever had. The sauce is simple and lets the tomato be the star. The crust was done perfectly, well cooked but not tough. So what exactly is evoo? This is the question I had after first coming across this place on Yelp (after a visit to Italy so I was in pizza mode) and reading the delightfully compact and good value menu uploaded by Briony. After getting a table instantly arriving at 7:10 on a Saturday evening we hoped the menu may have been a little more explanatory with regards evoo, but nothing yet. We ordered quickly and efficiently, I had the spicy sausage pizza with extra fresh chillies for a 50p surcharge and the wife got the chorizo special. I always find chorizo in Italian restaurants either too thick or not cooked enough for me - so I avoided (which was a good decision). I tried a new beer with my meal too, a bottle of Messina for £3. It was pish so avoid at all costs. Any ways the pizzas came in under ten minutes and were scoffed in about 20. They are big pizzas! Super tasty and fresh too. Almost as good as the best pizza I had in Italy, only the tomato sauce let this pizza down a little. The cheese, toppings and dough were all outstanding. Maybe I was spoilt at Pizza Pomodora in Venice, but that's how it rolls. I can't recommend this place enough, we had two pizzas, two beers, a side of lovely artichokes and a cappuccino for just over £25 without bothering with any sort of deals or pre-theatres. I visited this new pizzeria in Glasgow's Merchant City yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner with my partner. I'd heard a great deal about how brilliant it is and had very high hopes - always dangerous when visiting a new place. Well, I'll spare you the suspense; the reason I had heard so much about how brilliant it is was because it actually is brilliant. Thank goodness for that. We were warmly welcomed in and ushered to a table. We ordered drinks and studied the menu. This place is all about the pizza. Don't expect to be able to order minestrone soup, spaghetti bolognese or risotto - that's not what they're doing. They have about 10 pizzas, plus a couple of special pizzas, a few side dishes (all some variety or other of salad), ice cream and a tart of the day. They're keeping a narrow focus but they're getting it absolutely right. I ordered a ham and mushroom pizza, and my partner chose one of the specials. It was obvious when the arrived what all the fuss is about. The toppings were generous, fresh and of fantastic quality, but not overpowering. The base was beautiful. They're very proud of their pizza bases and it's easy to see why. The only thing I'd like done differently is the crust, which they turn in - I'd tend to leave it flat, but honestly it was so good that I didn't care at all. After one of the best pizzas I've had in Glasgow I was amazed at how little we spent. We ordered a pizza each and a beer each and the bill came to £26. I was far too full for desert or even coffee, but the tart of the day was strawberry meringue and looked amazing. I'd like to see some more sides and maybe some starters available but I can see that not offering those allows them to concentrate on just making sure every pizza is perfect. This was my second visit to Paesano, and I really enjoyed it! The space is a lot bigger than you first expect, and has lots of long tables through the middle with a mixture of benches and chairs. The menu is pretty straight forward, pizzas with a handful of sides and a separate dessert menu (which I haven't tried yet! May need to visit again soon then...). This time I decided to go for the pizza with prosciutto, mushroom and buffalo mozzarella (buffalo mozzarella is a £1.50 upgrade, definitely worth it). The toppings are really generous and incredibly tasty. My pizza was quite soggy, but I think that may have been due to the large quantity of mozzarella - so not necessarily a complaint! We also ordered a side of olives which are SO GOOD and a steal for £2. One slight irritant is that they don't offer any sort of dips - there is chilli oil on the table (vvv spicy chilli oil!) but nothing else. My sister asked for mayonnaise and was a bit annoyed to be told they didn't have any! Maybe it's sacrilege to put mayo on a pizza, but kind of annoying there's no alternative or option. Drinks wise, there's not a huge list but definitely enough! The beer is reasonably priced, but we went for a glass of prosecco which was a fiver. This may be a daft thing to find annoying, but I don't know when it became 'cool' to serve prosecco or wine in little tumblers?! I'm maybe not 'hip' enough to appreciate prosecco in a tumbler, but I think I'd rather a glass! #picky With regards to the service, it is pretty speedy and everyone was polite. We had a party of 10 people on a Friday early evening and the restaurant was VERY busy - we asked if they'd manage to fit us in and they said maybe in around 40mins so we went to another bar to get a drink and returned to a whole 10 seats together! A miraculous achievement if you've ever seen this place on a Friday night. The waitresses were attentive and we were served quickly. I had the anchovy pizza and it was definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Light, crispy crust, just the right amount of toppings and really tasty. I also had ice cream covered in raspberry sauce which was a bit of a flashback to childhood ice cream van experiences so I was pleased! Definitely one of the best pizza places in Glasgow! read more

Yummmm. Pizza and beer and ice cream, oh my! Three things I love very much, three things which complement each other pretty nicely! I dashed to Paesano not too long after it had opened with a couple of pals and we had a rather cracking time. I immediately liked the whole vibe of the place and we were lucky enough to snag a table even though it was jumping on a Sunday night. I had one of the special pizzas they had on which had pancetta, sun blushed tomatoes and mushrooms on it and it was so very tasty indeed. I didn't quite manage to finish the whole thing, but they let me take my last slice away with me. I did, however, manage a wee 99 afterwards. Obviously. I also thought the prices were seriously decent for what you get. I visited again with my parents which resulted in many questions (e.g. "Is it just pizza?" "Do we need to sit at this high table?" (We literally got the last table) "Are there not any other toppings?") and is possibly what put a bit of a dampener on my second time round as I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the first. I went for a fairly bog-standard (at least, bog-standard by Paesano standards) pizza which came with evoo - and I just felt like there was a bit too much of it. My pizza felt a bit greasy and like it was slopping about everywhere - it wasn't a patch on the first pizza I tried here, minus of course the base as it was equally awesome. I shall be back, probably not order a pizza featuring evoo, and see if I think it deserves a wee update to 5 stars! read more

This has quickly became one of my favourite places in Glasgow to grab a quick bite. Although the design of the restaurant is quite basic, I love the open kitchen and there's always a nice vibe around the place. The focus here is primarily on the food and it shows. They offer a selection of around 8 or 9 pizzas, with additional daily specials, and a small number of side dishes. Having been a few times, I have tried a number of the pizzas but my favourite is definitely the Salami one. Although it is simple, the quality and freshness make this place stand out from other pizza places in Glasgow. Service is always quick (although not always the friendliest) and you could be in and out in less than an hour. I definitely recommend this place if you haven't paid a visit yet. read more

We went back again for dinner with friends. This time I asked for my pizza to be cooked crispy and with extra garlic. Oh.my.goodness. SOOOOOOO GOOD! Seriously, run - don't walk. Get there early so you don't have to wait for a table, and pace your stomach. Save room for dessert! Everyone in our group ordered dessert and it was fantastic. Our last meal in good ol' Glasgow, through preceded reputation alone, was wood-fired pizza in this sprawling palace of dough. We had no problem being seated as it's one of the biggest pizzerias I've ever seen, but it was nicely bustling with diners on a Sunday afternoon. Service was pleasant and efficient throughout, we were well taken care of. I liked how there weren't dozens of pizza options - they offer eight and you were confident they make them very well. And so it proved to be. Large and delicious, though not overwhelming. Fairly decent bottled beer selection (or get a free soft drink if you check in on the Yelp app). We've a small number of mighty-fine pizza makers in Manchester - these guys would do well here as well, most definitely. read more

Wow. I serious love pizza. And there's a hell of a lot of competition in Glasgow. So I definitely wasn't expecting to walk away with a new fave pizza place at the top of my list. From the outside you really won't expect the huge space inside - the airy, cavernous restaurant has tables stretching all the way to the back, where you can sit right by the open kitchen and watch the chefs at work. Authenticity is what makes this place so special. The pizza are cooked in huge woodfire ovens, and it's quite something to watch. It's like the excitement you get when you order a Dominos online and see the 'baking' stage turn to 'delivery', but 10 times better. Between us we ordered one prosciutto, mushroom and mozzarella pizza and a fennel sausage and mozzarella pizza. Watch out for the specials too; we didn't see the board until after ordering unfortunately, and I was desperate to the try the chorizo special. But oh my both pizzas we ordered were devine. I've never been so excited by crusts in my life. So deliciously soft that I broke with tradition and ate from the outside in. Male sure and get chilli oil to drizzle over the crusts as a great dipping agent. The pizzas are honestly huge, and I didn't leave a single morsel. We simply had to make it to dessert too. All ice cream based (soft, traditional ice cream style), we ordered some plain ice cream as well as an ice cream sponge - sandwiched between two choc chip cookie sponges - and again not a lick of ice cream was left over. We certainly felt like wee wains, and isn't that the best? The staff were genuinely lovely too, one of the managers even shook out hands on the way out! Seeing the Yelp reviews and knowing what other fellow Yelpers said about the place, my expectations were very high. Luckily enough, Paesano lived up to these expectations. Their pizza is simply perfect, the from the crispy, thin dough to the tomato base to any of the toppings. The selection is not large, but I think this is what it takes to make sure that anything you pick from the menu will be delicious. The waiters are nice and the service is quick. I also love the atmosphere of the place, it is not easy to make such a large venue look friendly, but i think the guys at Paesano have managed it. I asked someone in work to recommend a pizza place as I had a hankering for pizza. This place came recommended with "oh yeah you need to try ....." After many different spellings on Yelp trying to find it only do discover I was misspelling it entirely... I spotted the menu on here, had a look at pizzas on offer and the plodded off to fill my belly On entering I was immediately spotted and a lady came over and offered me a selection of tables, I sat down, had a little look at what was on offer. Looking around the restaurants decorated well in an industrial themed upper half then an almost glam wood cabin table and decor lower half not sure how else to describe it. It is very unlike any other pizza place I've been in, the menu is very sparse, a selection of 8 pizza toppings, 7 side dishes and a handful of desserts However I don't care I came here for pizza and that's what they do, the simplicity of the menu on this occasion suited my needs perfectly I ordered a spiniata spicy salami from Calabria with tomato Sugo, mozzarella and evoo, I have no idea what evoo is so if anyone can fill me in that would be great I didn't get a side but grabbed a Diet Coke and an espresso to wash down my meal Drinks came and hardly has I managed to pour my Diet Coke the pizza arrived, it was so fast I thought the obviously have the wrong table! No it was for me .... Yeahhhhhhhh I was surprised firstly by the size of it, a large dominos sized pizza for half the price of a dominos! The spicy Salami is exactly that, spicy! Surprised again as normally this is a bland topping in other places however it gave it a really kick without overpowering the flavour from the tomato and cheese Regardless of the size of this I wasn't letting it go to waste.... I demolished the lot Reached from my espresso and took a large gulp, the caffeine hit me like that last alcoholic drink at the end of the night .... You know the one that pushes you over the edge and you just know you have had enough..... Well that's the strength of their beans...... After I shook off the buzz I sat back satisfied and content. Now just for my bill......... I waited .... No one came close enough to ask for it.... Waited more, 10 mins passed, I still had my empty plate and no bill, I waited still and finally someone came over, got the bill and wanted to oh by card ... No one again to grab the machine another while passed and I gave up and went to the bar to pay. When looking for a casual & low cost date option I figured it was about time that I finally tried out Paesano. It's pretty easy to get pizza right in my eyes as anything with cheese is usually a winner, but boy did they exceed my expectations! We visited slightly later than we usually would, on a very wet & windy Thursday night, but the place was still buzzing and pretty much full. Luckily, a table had been vacated just as we arrived so we were seated straight away. I feel like they could benefit from offering reservations in the future - at least for larger groups - as it could have been an issue otherwise. The menu isn't all that extensive, with about 8 options for your pizza, but it covers a lot of bases and you can order extra toppings at £1.50 per choice. I opted for the chorizo special that I spotted on the board and upgraded to buffalo mozzarella for an extra £1.50. My other half had the salami, and didn't upgrade his cheese. The speed of service in Paesano totally blew me away. A few minutes after ordering a waiter appeared apologising and informed us that our pizzas would be next - and we were shocked! It felt like barely a minute had passed before our massive pizzas arrived at our table. So fast, but in no way scrimping on quality. I can't explain enough how delicious the pizza was here. With a generous helping of mouth watering toppings it's a far cry from the pizzas that many other well known Italian restaurants serve. You can tell how fresh everything is and the size is brilliant in terms of value for money. It's small enough that I can just about manage a whole pizza, but big enough to provide a substantial meal without the need for sides - something the menu lacks slightly. I'm not usually a massive fan of the crust on pizzas, but this was something else. It was doughy but not in a way that left you feeling sluggish, and I ended up devouring it all. Oops. It could have maybe done with some sort of dipping sauce on the side as the crusts are quite substantial, but that's a small niggle. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the somewhat simple menu. I'm all for quality over quantity, but I feel like the menu could benefit from small additions like wine descriptions for those who aren't wine aficionados (i.e. me!). One of the main highlights for me was the space itself. I was kind of blown away by the size of it! So much bigger than expected, but it doesn't lose the intimacy or warmth as a result. Not sure what can be said here that hasn't already highlighted how fab Paesano is! For me it's the best pizza in Glasgow. Generally the unwritten rule, if you can't book its usually a good sign. However don't let the no reservations put you off as the tables turn around really quickly, and the 3 times I have been here recently I have had to wait maximum 10mins. Longer actually than it took to bring my pizza. The staff are friendly, great service and you don't feel rushed at all. It's simple casual dining, with a small menu - 8 pizza's on offer. The pizza takes a short time to cook. It is so thin, fresh and the crust reminded me more of a nan bread. This meant it was perfect for dooking in the chilli oil. Be warned it is pretty spicy, but of so good!! I will defo keep returning back to Paesano time and time again to try each of their pizzas. I have now sampled the basic tomato sugo, garlic, oregano and evoo. Roasted red pepper with spinach, tomato sugo, mozzarella and evoo. Prosciutto cotto with mushrooms. So only another 5 to go!! They also have daily special written up on the wall, pizzas and deserts. So I would really recommend heading here if you havent been already, it certainly wont disappoint! read more

Oh hey I haven't written a review for Paesano?! I'm like always there, so strange haha. Anyway, if you want delicious, affordable, freshly made pizza, Paesano is the place to go! They have a great selection of pizza ranging from £5-£9. Usually if I'm feeling a bit cheap but still want something nice to eat without breaking the bank, I go to Paesano! They also have wine! The restaurant itself is huge. It's always full but I always manage to get a seat with Gian. There's always space for us! :) it's a nice place to go out with friends or colleagues, because it's so homey and warm. Staff members at the place are nice too. Efficient and friendly; always attempting to speak Italian when they see Gian lol. Nothing to complain! I really like the fact that you can see the chefs at the back cooking up the pizzas in the stone ovens! That adds a nice touch to the environment, however, one thing I'd wish they'd fix is that, when it gets busy, don't be surprised if your pizza is a tad burnt. I think the tsunami of orders make the chefs cook far too fast to the point of your pizza dough coming out a bit on the black crusty side. Been to Paesano several times and it is by far the best pizza in Glasgow. There's 10 pizzas on the menu with a couple of specials usually on order. I once has a smoked cheese pizza on the specials, absolutely amazing.. For the quality of ingredients and size of pizza on offer, I find the prices very reasonable. The base itself is thin and quite chewy, with the volume of tomato sauce on top, the base is quite soggy, I personally quite like that but those who enjoy a crispy base may not be as big a fan. Reccomend upgrading to the buffalo mozzarella, for the extra £1.50, worth it! I've had dessert a couple of times as well, usually a cake/cheesecake on offer, mostly very tasty, chocolate and raspberry cake that was on once was brilliant. Drinks selection is reasonable, 3 choices of white/red wine, Moretti on tap and quite a few soft drinks. I've been wanting to try here for ages. Recommended by one of the bakers at Cottonrake and described as having the best pizzas in town, I had high hopes. I loved the interior and busy vibe. My kids and I had comfy seats in the middle of everything and we ordered from a fairly tight but very adequate menu (there are specials everyday and they seem to be flexible about adding and removing specific items from pizzas). Though the menu didn't state it, the kids were offered children's portions, which were not too much smaller than adult portions and good value for money. Likewise, there was more on offer in the way of soft drinks for the kids than the menu suggested. They had fruit juice. And our pizzas arrived about three seconds after one of the kids asked, "When will the pizzas be here?". Though the base of the pizza was softer than I expected, the taste of the crust was so full of flavour. The sauce and mozzarella flavours were bang on. It was a *great* pizza. We all agreed and gobbled them up quickly. My only gripe was that our waitress seemed a little disinterested and disinclined to convey necessary information about what was available for the kids to drink and when I tried to hand her a tip, she replied shortly, "Just leave it there!" Which I did, but with a smaller amount on the plate. Was I mean? I don't think so. I'm happy to tip good service. And when someone appears to be doing everything they possibly can to make your experience pleasurable then I'm delighted to tip well. I wish I could've tipped the young woman who served is in Sketchers this afternoon: that was someone going above and beyond and just being friendly. But that's another story... Best pizza in Glasgow, hands down. I'm a bit hesitant with giving 5 stars to places I've only been to once, but I think Paesano deserves it. I went for dinner with my mum back in June, and I've been wanting to go back ever since (but haven't had the chance, sadly). They don't offer a vegan cheese, but they do have a vegan pizza without cheese, i.e. the marinara. I had the marinara and added spinach and sun-dried tomatoes to it, but honestly it didn't need it. I do like my vegan cheese pizzas once in a while, but the marinara at Paesano is proof that pizza is definitely not necessary to make a pizza delicious. The crust is nice and thin with soft and fluffy edges, just like it should be. The sauce was amazingly flavoursome, in all its simplicity. It was massive, but I still managed to devour most of it. The place itself is nice and big, and was buzzing even on a Tuesday evening. Since it is a large space with a high ceiling it does get a little bit loud, but it didn't bother me at all. Visited Paesano for the first, but it won't be the last, time on Friday evening. It was so busy and this pizza place doesn't take bookings. The staff were really friendly once we got seated. The design is really modern, with bench seating mostly and nice lighting. The pizza, which had sourdough bases, were absolutely delicious. The four friends I was with also really enjoyed the pizzas. The ice creams for dessert were massive and tasty! The food was excellent value for money considering the quality. Downfall for some people were that they only do pizza, and some delicious sides, which didn't bother us. A must try for pizza lovers! read more

Here is my honest review. I had never heard about this place. I came here with 2 friends, only one of us had been before. I think the food and drinks are super cheap, not the best pizza bar far. Base not cooked long enough on the stone. Resulting in the toppings on the pizzas being very watery. Or maybe just too much sauce. This can be forgiven, as I'm sure they'll address this issue. As for the decor. It looks fantastic and a warm but busy setting. Probably one of the cheapest places to eat, and only a stone throw from George square, it's worth a visit. The staff are extremely friendly and always checking to see if everything is ok. If the pizzas get fixed, I'll give this place a 5 read more
