I sent a request a quote message and ended up chatting with John, the owner, the same day. He stopped by to see my project, sent me a quote, and within days he and his crew were at my house! We needed our front railing, front door, and roof deck railings to be sanded down and re-painted. Our house is only four years old but, as we've discovered, new construction doesn't always equal the best quality. John and his crew showed up bright and early around 8:30am, and worked tirelessly in the sun until the project was finished around 4pm. John explained the differences in the types of paint he needed to use for the railings and door. Everyone in the crew was friendly and careful about their work space - by the time they left, you wouldn't have known they were even here, aside from their gorgeous handiwork! My husband and I think the railings and door look even better now than they did when we bought our house. My only regret? Not taking before and after photos! Because of the previous tenant leaving so much clutter before renovations could start, his company additionally hauled away so work could begin on time. Furthermore this company doesnt take short cuts. They made several trips to get the proper matching siding needed for some damaged panels. We needed work in a ceiling that had been cut out to do a/c work. The contractor left it as is. Our tenant and us, just let it go, to be fair, but now since he's moving, we had to have the work done. I had emailed and called the handyman that the property manager uses for the entire building. I thought he knew the place and since it was familiar to him, a no brainer to use him. After waiting and leaving several messages, absolutely no response whatsoever. I found Rittenhouse Handyman on Yelp. It was very easy to schedule and appointment. No hassle at all. I sent them a picture of the problem and they sent me a fair estimate. What's really amazing is that they were responsive, easy to schedule an appointment with, and they showed up and did the work as promised. They did the work and they kept their word. Folks, we know how hard it is to find good people that keep their word and stick to it. I'm amazed how easy it was to schedule an appointment. We have two other rentals in the boonies in the Sierra Foothills in California and getting people to call you back and actually show up to do the work is hell. It's literally hit or miss and we have dealt with a lot of bait and switch folks, too. They quote you one price and lo and behold, there's more stuff that needs to be done. I had this company give me a quote for painting my bedrooms. We discussed priming and painting the…read morewalls doors and closet. When I got a quote back and of course I tried to negotiate it, but they were firm on the price which is perfectly fine. I message them back a week later to do the job done. Her responding message was telling me that the quote wasn't actually on what we discussed and said that if I wanted to have what we discussed, I would have to pay more money, because "it did not include. Both sides of the door, and the priming was only on small spots where they would spackle not the entire wall like we had discussed. They also stated that they "needed clarification on why I was OK with the price now." as if that was any of their business. When I called them to ask why they needed clarification on price I gave it to them. While I was giving it to them, she kept cutting me off and trying to justify her price increases and would not let me speak. She then spent the next 20-30 minutes trying to justify why she was trying to jack up my price. The lady was extremely rude. Cut me off every time I tried speaking. This is a classic bait and switch, and I would never use this company just because of that. If I had just agreed to the original price without trying to get a lower one, I never would've found that I wasn't getting the entire job done. I would've only gotten half the job done and would've been out $1000. I would then be forced to either pay them more money to finish the job since they already started or have another company come and redo it. Never deal with a company who uses bait and switch and changes their offer after the fact, and tries to lie. Especially with contracting work, because you will be up creek without a paddle.

They did a really bad job of painting the kitchen cabinets as well as some doors. Lots of texture…read moreshowing through and not done with precision. Never took out any of the knobs, handles, or other fixtures before painting and instead painted around it so all that lazy and sloppy paint job is visible like an eye sore. Planning to get all that paint stripped off now. I am actually doing them a favor by not posting pictures of their paint job. Please take this review as a serious warning before thinking about hiring them.
