    Denny's Original Grand Slam

The Nuggets cafe has been converted to a Denny's. I came in for my Veterans Day breakfast to see how things are going. Obviously it was a very busy morning. The staff were quick to seat me and obtain my drink order. It didn't take too long for the waitress to greet me and get my order. In a reasonable time, she came by to let me know the kitchen was backed up and inquired on my needs. Breakfast came out hot and tasty. There are a lot of breakfast places in town and will keep this one on my list of considerations.

The best gambling variety available in Pahrump and the much more successful sister casino of Gold Town. Surprisingly they offer table games including $5 craps, $5 blackjack, and $5 high card flush among some others. As far as the pay tables on video poker are concerned they are the best I found in Pahrump so far mostly 98% on the older machines and a few progressive games on DDB that go beyond that. Players club is true rewards which is decent and has offers regularly. A few dining options like the cafe, Pink Box Donuts and Jimmy John's are available within the casino. Overall would recommend checking it out and will visit again on my next trip to Pahrump.

The rooms are pretty nice here. The staff is always really helpful. There are good restaurants and bars throughout. Free parking and plenty of slots. 4-stars for no pool on-site.

    Gross moldy trim in shower

Rooms are not as advertised! Very, very dated. Mattress was like a big rubber balloon - pillows were also horrible. Carpet in halls repaired with duct tape. Casino is disgustingly smoky. Something on the bright side.., we actually won in the casino (but put it all back in. Lol)

I had a fun time at the Nugget learning how to play poker. The table games dealers were easygoing and patient. The other players were, too. The atmosphere here is smoky, friendly, and relaxed. No pressure at all here. Just fun, food, games, and banter. A lot of smoke for me gets it four stars instead of five, but it's a casino.

Came up to Pahrump to visit my brother and his wife to celebrate his retirement, birthday and moving to Pahrump. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Dropped my son and one of my sister's off at the hotel, while my wife, another sister and I headed to the Nugget to do a little gambling. It was later in the evening when we arrive. The place was busy, but not crowded. Lots of machines to choose from. Wife didn't have much luck with video poker. My sister came out about even, and I came out ahead of what I started with. We really didn't stay long, since we were tired from the trip and the full day. I think I only saw 1 waitress on the floor.

Here's what got me negatively- Things hotel can control - I had a room on the bottom floor. I opened the blinds to get some natural light in the room. There is no screen to prevent anyone from seeing in and of course someone with their dog walked by right then. One of the coffee machines was full of used grounds so quit working at breakfast. There is always a line of people to get coffee and this made it worse. They don't have coffee in the rooms for environmental purposes which I understand but they should have all coffee machines up and running and kept up with since there isn't coffee in the rooms. Things hotel can't control but made for a not so great experience. Went out and sat on a chair to enjoy the cooler evening weather after check in and a man walked by and relived himself on the wall. There was someone above me wearing hard soled shoes who kept walking back and forth that night and of course again the next morning and I got to listen to the neighbors bed next door to me hitting the wall for about 20 min. Overall not a bad hotel necessarily just a bad stay for me there. Easy on off road access and higher moderately priced.

We got one of the rooms with a kitchen area and it had a nice clean working kitchen along with a nice shower and beds, all well-designed and fit into a small room. There is some kind of water table near the surface and some greenery, even in the middle of summer in this desert. Shoshone Inn (really a motel) is pretty much the only establishment in the area and was convenient for my planned expeditions, so I bit the bullet and made the reservation. Amenities: Hot shower (no tub), mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker including coffee pods and creamer. Breakfast of bagels, yogurt and fruit also included. BTW the hot water was truly hot, which was nice (it's chilly here in winter). Lots of complimentary goodies (lotion, shampoo, bath gel, even eye gel and pillow spray to help you get a good night's sleep). Room: Very comfortable bed, large wardrobe for storage, and a nice desk with chair. NO CELL SERVICE OR LANDLINE phone here; but there is free Wi-Fi and a pay phone nearby for emergencies. Cleanliess was great. Service: Check-in ran a little late as my room was not ready when I arrived. Keeping in mind that the town of Shoshone has a population of 31, it must be hard to keep enough staff to get everything done. Everyone was very friendly and helpful about the process and answered all my questions. Just go with the flow. THE BEST THING: The Warm Springs Pool. Staying at the Inn gives you access to the Warm Spring Pool, which is heavenly. Shoshone is home to amazing natural hot springs (as well as their own species of pupfish adapted to live in the springs.) These springs feed the pool, which is a short hike from the hotel. Parking: Free in the lot. Tips: Bring food and supplies, there's a gas station market right next store to the motel but with limited provisions. Drive to Tecopa for more hot springs. And have dinner at Steaks and Beer (reservation highly suggested.)

We stayed in a double queen room that was clean, comfortable, and a nice size with all the basics. The bathroom only provides bar soap, so bring shampoo and conditioner. The hair dryer is high powered, and while the shower pressure isn't strong, it works fine. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had the Friday night dinner buffet, which featured prime rib. The buffet is standard but good--fresh salad bar, tasty prime rib (with baked chicken as an option), a baked potato bar, delicious mac and cheese, other side options like mashed potatoes, fries, various veggie options, and desserts-mainly cake slices and pies with sugar-free options plus an ice cream bar. We didn't do breakfast, but hotel guests can enjoy free coffee and tea at the bar in the morning. Overall, Saddle West is clean, comfortable, convenient, and a good value. We'd definitely stay here again for a short stay.
