I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. Dr. Lahey Jr. has the bed manners of a TSA agent. I returned to him with my continued back pain of…read morewhich he asked me what my level of pain was. I told him that it's generally a 5 but for two days it was a 9, and his response..."A 9?! A ten is being burned alive...you really had pain of a 9?!" Well now that you put it into that perspective, Doctor, I guess I was being burned alive. He tried to diminutize my pain discomfort. Secondly, he asked me how many exercise the PT's have given me and when I told him about 50 different exercises, he scoffed at me as though I was lying. Why would I lie about this of all things??? Lastly, he lectured me that I was not following his instructions of getting PT often enough. I told him the PT I selected could only get me in once per week and he said, "why didn't you go to others on my list?". Because they too couldn't get me in until a month out or were 20 minutes away. He talks to you like you should be a physician expert as well and if you don't have his level of expertise, you must be an idiot. I would rather deal with my back pain than deal with this attitude. I don't need a pain in my "ace" in addition to my back.
