In speaking with other patients in the office everyone has the same opinion that he is the best and takes time with each and every one of us to answer questions or make suggestions. I couldn't live without Dr. Pat Chira. He is the best! Very kind, considerate, caring and has a gentle persona. I could write a book about him and his brother, Dominic, who sometimes acts as a substitute doctor in his absences.

In the times I have dealt with him…read moreas being my PCP, I have never ever felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable as I have, in these past 3 weeks of seeing him. I have been dealing with a major back issue and I patiently waited to be scheduled to see Dr. Chira. I understand during COVID-19 times now, that everything can be more slow-paced and a health risk; however, I felt as if I was put on the back burner. I had to head to the ER in order for myself to get any type of doctor's note for my job. I did not feel comfortable going back to work in my condition and wanted to get answers! A week and a half later, I finally did see Dr. Chira, and there was still no proper diagnosis. I, myself, recommended to get a MRI done to get a better understanding of what's going on with my back. Also, to see what issues are going on. I had 1 more follow-up appointment with Dr. Chira after that; that being after my MRI was done and results were in. Still no clear-cut answers from him. I had to continually repeat with him what medications I am on; as well as what I have been doing since my back injury. It's as if he didn't remember anything I had told him prior? Not to mention Dr. Chira explicitly wanted me to call my pharmacy to "double-check" what medications I am on so there is no "confusion." I was dumbfounded and couldn't believe my PCP was not believing me. Dr. Chira handled my diagnosis with no clear-cut answers. I had to bring up physical therapy as an option. I expressed concern and interest in Short Term Disability because my back injury is going to take a lot more time that I had imagined apparently. I am looking out for the wealth fare of my job! Dr. Chira cringed at my vocal expression with STD! Why? I was looking for guidance and reassurance. I was looking for help and concern. All I received was disconnect and lack of empathy. Lastly, when Dr. Chira brought up what I do for work, he mentioned maybe I should find another job? How can I make that assumption when I need to make sure and take care of my issue first. Especially before I can decided anything like that? He was not helping me with responses such as that! Not to mention one of his office receptionists, a Miss Stacey. The very few times I spoke with her over the phone in these last 3 weeks, was, only a complete disregard for my feelings and disrespectfulness. I am finding a new PCP and have no intention of going back to Dr. Chira. He failed me as my PCP; and that's saying a lot for me considering I had been seeing him for almost 10 years. Shame on you Dr. Chira!

I tried calling the PCP the plan had assigned me and they couldn't see me for two days. Instead, I opted to go to THE DOCTOR IS IN! on Park Avenue-- he doesn't take insurance-- instead you pay $40 and get treated. THIS is the healthcare we should be pushing for in the US. His office was clean and welcoming-- a big screen tv, magazines, etc. I waited about three minutes and then was seen, treated, diagnosed and given a prescription and was on my way in under 15 minutes. BAM-- no insurance needed. Take out the middle man and bring healthcare back to the days when doctors ran their own little offices. This is a great place-- and even with my mandated insurance I will still opt to pay my own way and come here.

All PCPs that I called were "taking new patients" but not doing physicals for a few months. I had tried to go to CVS's Minute Clinic but they aren't allowed to give physicals in MA (and made me wait for 2 hours). I came here as my last resort, driving by at 4:45 after work to see that it opened at 5:30 After getting a quick dinner, I walked into the clinic at 5:30 to find that he had already started seeing patients. I was in an out by 6:00 with a letter for my employer and only down $60! In the time between when I walked in and when I left, the doctor probably saw about 4 or 5 patients and was still very friendly, kind, and helpful to me, taking his time in asking questions and listening to my answers.

Since I have no leg pain, he advised to stay away from back surgery. I believe that was a good call. My neck is a different story. Since I do have arm and shoulder referring pain and some vertigo, he did recommend neck surgery in the near future. I also believe that was a good call.

The wait was 5 minutes. He comes out to get me seats me in the room tells me it is now time for his afternoon coffee and snack and that he will back in alittle bit. Mind you i am like every one else on a time schedule . He comes back with his coffee and snack and sits down. He asked me to explain what was going on (I at that point had been suffering from pneumonia for over two months in and out of the hospital) i started to explain when he cut me off. He asked my weight and height i told him . he then at that point told me the problem was that i was fat and that there was nothing he could do until i cared more about my own health , he told me to cut my calories to about 1000 a day and if i felt hungry it did not matter and to ignore it because i wont die from hunger, I told him the eating was not the problem but all the steriods and evrything else i had been prescribed contributed to my fast weight gain, He said just don't eat all then you wont die from not eating ,he went on to say that prioners of war dont eat for months and they dont die either will I , I then asked him about the recent developed growths in my lung he said dont worry you wont die of lung cancer tomorrow, I at that point was so floored i said nothing back and just wanted to leave . He did no testing and told me again that when i lost the 30 pounds that was making me fat and overweight i can shedule testing to resolve the nodules in my lung and to try to find out why i keep getting pnemonia . i at that point asked him one last question , He walked me out to the front desk and said let schedule the testing in four months that should give you enough time I said no i am all set . I will never ever go to him again and will strongly recommend you dont either never met such a arrogant rude tasteless doctor in my whole life
