I really wanted to love this place. I think the doctor is very cutting edge and offers great treatments. He has a good bed side manner. I felt hopeful after my first meeting with him. However, the way this office is run with communication is just terrible. I read the reviews about this but figured they must have worked this out by now, but they have not. There is no way to email them, and I have spent countless amounts of my time on hold, talking to answering services even during the day, and calls not returned, messages not received. I am rarely able to reach a human when I call them even during office hours. I have called five times in last few days during office hours and I am just on hold for 15 minutes listening to music and then it just hangs up on me, with no way to even leave a message. I have resorted to thinking I am going to have to actually drive there and physically go into the office to actually reach someone, but I do not have time to do this. When I was able to leave a message, they would repeatedly call me back on a really old number that goes to someone else after I corrected it 4 different times with the answering service and the office and told them my correct number, they still continue to call me on the wrong number. The first day I walked into the office in level 9 pain, the woman at the desk literally did not even look up at me or say hi. I just stood there looking at her right in front of her for a few minutes and then asked her if she could help me. She seemed totally annoyed that I was there and she had to deal with me. Not a great first impression when you walk in with a lot of pain. Thankfully the doctor and the PA were nice. My first apt was over $800 and was very quick with the doctor and my insurance only paid half. It seems impossible to get accurate insurance info, they tell me something has been approved, I call my insurance, they said it has not been approved. I am terrified to get anything else done here because of how expensive their fees are and not knowing what kind of bill I will get and can't get any clear pricing ahead of time for treatments. There is another pain doctor in San Rafael that does the same cutting edge treatments but is MUCH less expensive and very clear with treatment costs. The same first office visit with him was $60 copay, here it was $800 but both doctors are in network for me and same type of visit. I don't understand how the pricing can be so different for a first visit or for the same exact treatments. Their communication system and not being able to ever talk to the doctor unless you have a very expensive meeting with him months away just does not work for me. When you are in pain having to wait many months for an apt or weeks of back and forth calls to reach anyone feels unbearable. I tried to stick it out but the communication issues and lack of clear info is just causing me so much stress. I think this doctor is really good at what he does, and I think he offers the best cutting edge treatments, but I just could not handle the way the office/ finances/ and communication is done here. I did not feel taken care of at all and every time I need to call them it turns into such a long very stressful ordeal with so many back and forth messages with physician assistants because they are never available when I try to call and there is no way to email them, and they continue to call me at an old number. And most of the time there is no way to even leave a message. I have spent hours trying to reach someone at this office only to be on hold and then disconnected. I ask them to call me back to confirm they got my message to cancel an apt and they do not call back. So it is just weeks of messages back and forth unable to actually reach them and no way to talk to the doctor if you have any questions. This is not good for people who are in chronic pain. So much of this could be eliminated if they just had email. Such poor management. Really frustrating experience as a patient in pain to go through. The opposite of a smooth experience. It's too bad because I do think they do offer really helpful treatments for patients in pain, but I have given up on this place. read more

As a new patient I was very pleased to meet a doctor who didn't want to quickly dismiss my chronic pain and throw meds at me. Dr Kalra spent time understanding my injury and doing tests to narrow down the exact area that was causing pain so that a plan could be put in action to FIX my issues, rather than just mask them with meds or short term injections. I recently started going to Dr.Rubin Karla, my pain Doctor had retired & I was in need of a new replacement. Dr. Karla is very intelligent and knows his medicine. I have been very happy with my care. One thing that is difficult & a bit frustrating is their phone system. I wish it could be more streamlined so you could reach the person you need. I look forward to working with them and I am feeling less pain since I started.I want to say that Sarah Eapen is very special,smart and caring I look forward to many more years of working with them. Well, let me just make this very simple, Dr. Kalra is the most compassionate doctor I've ever met in my 65 years of life and 25 years of back pain. This place was once good. The new staff they have are useless and aloof. After a few years going here I am taking my healthcare elsewhere. It has been an absolute headache just trying to schedule a follow up appointment. Also good luck reaching anyone, you will need to call at least 5 times. But unfortunately even if you do get through, you won't find anyone who gives a damn about helping you. Its almost as they get off on making your life harder. Gave these folks about 4 chances to help me, I never had an attitude. Won't prescribe an aspirin. But will certainly provide $1700 Ketamine infusion that's not covered or my favorite, a freaking implant with battery hanging out your side. Doubt that's covered. No way would I do that to myself let alone pay for it. Keep looking for help. Hear there's a place in Petaluma. I have been a patient of Dr Kalra's practice for many years. I am thinking at least 7 now. I have a pretty serious neck injury from work back in 2009. I have chronic pain that gets worse and gets better. I want to put off surgery as long as possible. Dr Kalra has helped by doing radio ablations (he is the best by the way) on my neck and shoulder. I have seen Sara in the office, and she is great. When I need pain medication they supply it, but they also offer a lot of alternative treatments so you don't become an addict which I don't want to become. I have done meditation with them. I have had injections. They take the time to listen to the patient. They treat you with care and compassion. I highly recommend them. They are on the cutting edge of treatments. read more

My doctor recommended Dr. Ruben Kalra of PMC. I have been treated by Dr. Kalra for years, and with his help I have avoided additional back surgeries through conservative treatments and procedures. Dr. Kalra has been instrumental in assisting me in managing my back pain. While not pain free, I'm able to function and enjoy some quality of life. I've had good success with Dr. Ruben Kalra and his staff for over a decade now. He was recommended to me by my orthopedic surgeon who initially determined my pain issues, but felt I could be better served by Pain Management, going forward. We have worked through many types of treatment for my specific pain, and have arrived at a plan than is most satisfactory. It currently encompassed a combination of exercise, meditation, localized injections and medication. The results have enabled me to manage and minimize my pain to the point of a good quality of life. Their have been a few issues with office staff over the years-- being able to call and get through to this location has been an issue, and a few were not really suited for their work. But many have been wonderful in helping out. I'd like to shout out to Devon, who I just heard is no longer with them. Also, Dr. Kalra's assistant, P.A. Sarah Eapen has ably stepped in at the times when he was unavailable. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Kalra and his staff in Corte Madera. read more

I never saw Dr. Kalra, I don't think I make enough money or have the right insurance. Either way I received a referral from my doctor and called his office to make an appointment at which time I was told they would call me back. I called and called and called and was finally asked, do you have a PPO or an HMO, I replied I have a HMO, the young woman responded, oh? I've been treated for chronic neck and shoulder pain for the past seven years at PMC. I have had physical therapy in conjunction with therapeutic injections geared to the level and degree of pain I was experiencing with excellent, long lasting results. As I aged,unfortunately it became evident by my symptoms and changes on the MRI that my arthritis had advanced but luckily so had advanced in regenerative treatments and I had PRP, platelet rich plasma, injections (2) which were less uncomfortable than most dental procedures and were done in the procedure room at the office so not difficult. These have been life altering with 98% of pain gone and results last a year or more. Able to garden, hike and sleep now without previous debilitating pain. Couldn't be more pleased with results and Dr Kalra is not only an excellent physician but also truly caring and kind. Staff is dedicated and professional. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more
