We wished their quality of service might deserve the extra charge but unfortunately, my wife ended up losing a tooth that could have been saved because of failed treatment there. In 2022, my wife received a root canal treatment and crown installation from Dr. Schmitt at Alafaya Family Dentistry to address a decayed tooth. The crown came loose and fell off within just six months. On our return visit, Dr. Ross reattached the crown at no additional charge. However, a recent examination at another dental practice revealed significant decay beneath the crown, alongside an X-ray indicating a small crack between the crown and the remaining tooth (see the attached X-ray photo). The dentist explained that this crack led to the decay, which was inevitable given the circumstances, ultimately rendering the tooth unsalvageable, and that it was the responsibility of the previous dentist who did the root canal treatment - Alafaya Family Dentistry. We are now faced with the prospect of replacing the tooth with an implant or bridge. It's really upsetting that a routine root canal treatment should fail not once but twice, especially since we paid so much more for their services.

After all it's a business but I genuinely think Dr. Ross does care.

Every single person we encountered made us feel cared for, respected, supported, and genuinely loved. As a first-time mom, I had so many fears and questions, but this team exceeded every expectation I had. Heather, my first nurse, immediately made me feel comfortable and helped calm those first-day nerves. Kristen, the night charge nurse, was wonderful and helped ensure everything ran so smoothly. Taylor, my day nurse, deserves every award imaginable. She truly was my fairy godmother. She spent the entire day preparing me for birth, explaining every single thing she was doing, answering every question, and making me feel informed and empowered. She listened to every wish I had for my birth experience and did everything she could to make it happen. I never once felt like "just another patient"--I felt heard, respected, and advocated for. She was constantly by my side, so attentive, compassionate, and encouraging. I was genuinely heartbroken that her shift ended before my son was born because she had become such an important part of my birth experience. Colleen, my CRNA, was absolutely wonderful. Getting an epidural was one of the things I feared most, but she explained everything so thoroughly, talked me through every step, and made me feel completely at ease. She was incredibly personable, warm, and kind. What touched me the most was that after working a 24-hour shift, before heading home, she stopped by just to meet my son. That small gesture meant so much to me and perfectly reflects the type of people who work here. Dr. Bartlett was phenomenal during delivery. One of my biggest fears throughout pregnancy was tearing during birth, and she took such incredible care to help prevent that. She was calm, encouraging, confident, and made me feel completely safe during one of the biggest moments of my life. I couldn't have asked for a better physician to bring our son into the world. Brandy, my night nurse, is simply unforgettable. There truly aren't enough words to describe how much I adore her. She has the most amazing personality and is such a breath of fresh air. She somehow managed to make an overwhelming, emotional experience feel joyful, exciting, and even fun. Starting at 7 p.m., she was constantly repositioning me to help my son descend, encouraging me every step of the way, teaching me how to push and breathe effectively, making me laugh between contractions, advocating for me, listening carefully whenever I described what I was feeling, and adjusting everything based on my feedback. It is so obvious that she absolutely loves what she does, and because of that, she made one of the most important nights of my life unforgettable. Susan, who performed Luca's hearing test, was incredibly sweet and kind. Tracy, our postpartum day nurse, was amazing as she gave Luca his very first bath and patiently helped me begin my breastfeeding journey. Those first few days as new parents can be overwhelming, and she made us feel so much more confident. A huge thank you as well to Rebecca, the charge nurse, for helping everything run so smoothly, and to Kathleen and Suzanne at the front desk, who greeted us with kindness and warmth every time we walked through the doors. Every single person we encountered treated us like family rather than patients. They celebrated with us, comforted us, educated us, laughed with us, and helped make the birth of our son one of the most beautiful experiences of our lives. If you're looking for a hospital to deliver your baby, I cannot recommend Oviedo Medical Center highly enough. This team gave us memories we will cherish forever, and I will always be grateful for the incredible care we received. Thank you for helping bring our sweet Luca into the world so safely and lovingly. We will never forget you all.

First time they attempted the TEE without anesthesia because it failed to be ordered in error causing another 3 day stay, over the weekend, in the hospital to try again on Monday. The next morning she stopped in on her rounds, was very unfriendly and angry to my mother and as she left told my little 87 year old mother "You know, the world does NOT revolve around you." My mother was aghast and very upset at the treatment she received. While waiting in pre-op we were informed that she forgot again to get anesthesia ordered/insure the anesthesiologist would be there (it's required without doubt for the Cardioversion and both procedures were done back to back). Add in, prior to this, we found she had poor documentation in identifying what drugs she had prescribed. The outside of the building is beautiful, super clean, and they've thought about everything -- including handicap parking and a ramp for easy access. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted so warmly by the front desk staff. They even gave me a little tour of the office, which was spotless, modern, and so welcoming. There are massage chairs in the waiting area (yes, massage chairs!) and a cute drink bar with coffee, tea, water -- such a nice touch while you wait. And this was a first for me -- they gave me a personalized welcome bag with my name on it, a mug, and some little goodies! I thought that was so thoughtful. Once I was called back, they took high-quality images of my teeth and showed everything right on the screen so I could actually see what they were talking about. The hygienist and dentist walked me through everything, explained any concerns, and were super transparent the entire time. I've never had a dentist be that thorough or patient-focused before. Another thing I loved -- there's a TV with headphones in each exam room so you can watch Netflix or whatever while they work on your teeth. It makes such a difference and really helps you relax! The whole staff was so kind and took the time to get to know me. They even shared fun little facts I told them with the dentist so it felt super personal and not rushed at all. What really stood out was their honesty -- no pressure, no upselling unnecessary treatments. They let me know what was optional and reassured me nothing urgent needed to be done. Plus, they cleaned my retainers for free -- just another thoughtful little touch. Pricing was super clear too -- they went over everything before doing any work so there were no surprises. I never thought I'd say this about a dentist, but I'm actually excited to go back for my next cleaning. Oviedo Dentistry really sets the bar high for what a dental office should be. If you haven't been here yet, definitely check them out -- it's more than just a dentist visit, it's truly an experience!

However, I wanted to leave my review for new patients such as myself or even those preparing for their first upcoming surgery. I did pay out of pocket and I won't lie and say that it was a hefty price!! Front desk staff will state they do NOT do payment plans if you are uninsured however Daisha (billing dept) was so incredibly sweet and made an arrangement with my finance, we split the cost in half so we paid a week pre op, and then I paid my remaining today! My arrival time was 7:00AM, I checked in by 6:40am, and was called back not long after checking in, I want to say maybe 20 mins max! My pre op nurse(s) were Trish and Leah, omg they both really eased my anxiety, and had such wonderful bedside manner, they made me feel as if I was chatting with family, they promptly got me prepared for surgery by administering my IV, giving me Tylenol beforehand, explaining what I needed to do such as a provide a urine sample, get undressed, check my vitals etc. Leah provided additional comfort by setting the lights down as the beds are laid out in a row outside of the operating room, but curtains are all around to give privacy! Dr. Steehler popped in not long after to go over my procedure, answer questions, as well as discussing medicine aftercare and providing overall reassurance Anesthesiologist Dr. Dobson, did the same as well, asking my medical history, elaborating on the type of medicines I'd be actively given while under and what they do he was kind but more direct simply a doctor who has been doing this for quite a while I could tell, so easy work for him but nice nonetheless! I don't recall seeing him after he came by pre op but I believe he was in the op room. My OR NURSE Shanta was very nice as well as she wheeled me into the operating room, I can't recall the name of the woman I just know she was the anesthesiologist nurse (Asian woman) OMG she was amazing she really made my experience so relaxing as she administered the anxiety medication pre op before I got wheeled in the op room, both she and Shanta were at either side of my bed next to my head. All I remember was Shanta providing oxygen, and the very pretty anesthesiologist nurse, complimenting my dumpling stuffed animal, and next thing I know we were talking about Labubu's which I collect and love as well, the irony of that was just great because she really helped me drift peacefully, and it just created a bond of trust being in her care! After that next thing I know I'm awake in the observation room post op. I cried softly to myself as I woke up I wasn't in excruciating pain or anything I think just the nerves of having my first surgery and successfully doing it, everyone was right it really felt like the best nap, as if I slept on a cloud. Nurses Marlynn, and Susan were also very sweet and gentle with me, they monitored me for 15 min until I was discharged. Sorry ladies as I was out of it and processing going through my surgery.. but I appreciate your reassurance, and care as I was monitored and Susan for coming in clutch the extra banana ice pop! If you reached up to this point, I hope I've reassured anyone who is nervous! The staff is excellent in care, and bedside manner. They made me feel safe, validated in my fears, and provided care ensuring I was comfortable and safe all throughout. The facility is well maintained and clean as well! I first met with Michelle for a consultation, where she assured me she would personally handle my entire pregnancy, be on call 24/7, and be present for all appointments. Based on that representation, I paid the $1,500 registration fee. However, at my first prenatal appointment--at 19 weeks--I was suddenly assigned to a completely different midwife without any notice or explanation. The midwife (Robin) appeared inexperienced and unsure of how to perform even basic clinical tasks: * She struggled to operate the balance scale and gave me a weight that was clearly inaccurate. * She incorrectly calculated my due date by four months, despite having my last menstrual period date in front of her. * She could not confidently locate my baby's heartbeat, confused my pulse with the fetal heart rate, and claimed the "fetal heart rate was low" without certainty. * She took my blood pressure over a thick long-sleeve sweater, which is not proper medical procedure. * She then told me to go directly to the emergency room, claiming she had called ahead to have a bed ready. This caused extreme panic and emotional distress. Additionally, if she genuinely believed this was a medical emergency concerning my unborn child, she should have called an ambulance, not told a pregnant woman to get on the highway and drive herself while terrified. That is a fundamental violation of basic safety protocol. While driving--shaken and scared--I called the center back and asked for Michelle. Only then did I learn that I should not go to the hospital and instead return to the birthing center immediately. Michelle also mentioned she had dinner plans, which was unprofessional given the crisis her staff had just created. When I returned, Michelle immediately reassessed me. She used the Doppler and her handheld ultrasound, confirming that my baby was moving normally and not in any distress. She found the heartbeat quickly and without any issue. My baby was perfectly fine. The earlier panic, incorrect information, and poor clinical judgment were completely unnecessary and unacceptable. I have worked in the legal field for over five years, and everything about this experience raises serious concerns about medical malpractice, negligence, and unsafe clinical practices. I requested a full refund and will no longer be receiving care here. I will also be reporting this incident to the Florida Department of Health, as no expectant mother should be subjected to incorrect medical information, unsafe instructions, or avoidable fear. Expectant mothers deserve competent, consistent, and safe care--not panic, confusion, and contradictory assessments.
