The staff makes this place totally worth it! We came here for a mommy daughter date with two almost 7 year olds and they loved it. It is pretty pricey between the four of us it was like $230 which was shocking but we're hoping the final products come out stunning. And the location itself is in high demand so it's pretty tight in there. They could double the space and prolly still fill it up. Special shout out to Sage who came to the rescue to help my daughter when she "ruined" her cat eyes! Sage helped her clean the paint off and redesign the eyes! We will be back in 7 days to get our pieces and I will update my review to show our final projects! Let me also add that this place is for both kids and adults! I saw that they had a cute watermelon bowl design so I wanted to come in to paint a fruit bowl in that design. I was happy when I got there that the bowl I wanted to paint was on display. The employees new how to paint that particular design and gave me instructions one step at a time so I wasn't overwhelmed. It was so much fun painting and I love how my bowl turned out! They had a lot of painting ideas if you aren't creative, which I appreciate. I don't like thinking of ideas off the top of my head. This is great for anyone! A date night, family, alone time, friends, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hours at this location was decent. Pricing was a little high especially because you are also expected to tip afterwards. Between pottery, painting fee, tip, it's a lot! Overall, it's a once in awhile thing for me! read more

Not sure about all of the negative reviews, this place is great! Color Me Mine in Glenview is quiet refuge from a stressful work day, bad mood, ailment-- painting is truly a wonderful form of therapy. The workers are very kind and attentive towards your color needs (in my case, putting up with my refill requests every couple of minutes- gotta add those layers!). Do stop by here sometime. Probably best to try on an off day during the weekday as weekends tend to get pretty busy. read more

I think this place is fantastic. I'm probably not the usual clientele, as I'm an adult who comes by without kids. I'm also the person who comes and spends several hours making something. I've done their paint-at-home thing, and once I even bought small containers of underglaze so I could decorate ceramics that I made at a studio that did not provide underglazes. The staff has always been super helpful and very accommodating of my requests. I read a few complaints and one or two mentioned it was expensive. I moved to the Chicago area from NYC and it's definitely less expensive than pottery painting places there, so I'm not sure what people's reference is. read more

Given that it was a rainy day the studio was quite packed but staff Jordan and Sage were both very attentive and friendly. We had left Funtopia & went for a stroll when we saw this establishment; An already made ceramic pottery piece my daughter paints with, was another fun indoor activity for her. There is different fees for adults and children plus a studio fee. I opted out in painting. Her tea lantern piece ended up to be $26 total. There's plenty of choices of ceramics to choose from: I prevented myself for the Hello Kitty ones! Yes, at my age I am still into Hello Kitty. My 5 yrs old daughter felt like a big girl when the employee asked her for colors; I advised My daughter that each brush produces different paint strokes and the sponge is used to even out the paint on the ceramic. After she was done, I'm told I'll be contacted to pick up the piece in a few days. Although pricey, I can't put a nametag for her experience. Plus, the tea lantern can be displayed or given as a gift. There is also a tip fee for the employee supplying the colors. read more

The people who worked on 7/23/23 were so incredibly kind to my friends and I. One of my friends ended up not feeling well but they were so nice and gave her water and a snack. I can imagine how hectic the job is especially with all the children but they continued to check in and make sure everyone was okay. It was greatly appreciated. So I just recently brought my daughter here again for the 1st time in yrs and I have to say this place is a RIP off. We usually go to the one in golf mill which u just pay for the thing your painting. Nope not here, you have to pay to paint and then pay for your object. Even if your just sitting with your child you have to pay. Its ridiculous. Way to over priced! And u have to wait days to pick these things up. SEXISM I was at color me mine painting when my baby brother put his hand on a piece and slightly colored it from his previous painting which could have been easily washed off thanks to my previous one experience and then when a girl dropped a piece while horsing around and broke a large piece off it was shrugged off which I think is quite crazy considering it was much more damage that what he had caused which in our case we had to purchase the product but they had no consequences. read more

I was here on a Saturday afternoon with my fellow yelper Nan. The studio wasn't busy at all. We came in picked out our pieces and then sat down and selected colors, and the people who worked there brought us palette's with paint. It was kind of difficult to get their attention when we needed more paint later on, which I thought was odd because the studio was pretty empty. Regardless we had a fun time painting and chatting on our own. It's a fun activity for any age- there were ladies that looked like they were in their 50's painting intricate designs on a plate when we first arrived, and also girls that looked like there were 12. It was fun, though it is a little pricey. I painted 2 mugs, which were $12.50 a piece, plus a studio fee of $10. But thankfully Nan had told me about a $5 off coupon that's available on the website if you take a survey about your experience. With the discount and tax, I ended up paying $32 for painting 2 mugs. Which isn't cheap, but I guess not uber expensive either. I would definitely come back here again- I think it's a great activity to do with your girlfriends. read more

time to think of indoor kiddo activities... now that the chilly temps are around the corner :( love the CMM concept but it's freakin expensive for a piece of "artwork" that you know will collect dust high up on your kid's bookshelf. maybe make smaller items for kids and cut your costs...we all know their painted platters and piggybanks aren't coming out as masterpieces so we shouldn't be paying for picassos. i think the paint and glaze fee should be built into the price of the pottery. also, the staff is no doubt sweet and helpful but why do i need to tip you? i don't tip the gal at bath and body works for showing me the latest stinks and smells and grabbing my favorite scent from the back room. what else are you doing "service" wise that you need to announce that you "work for tips". just pay the guys more, tips are ridiculous! read more

This place is super cute for a family outing. Its a little pricey so that the one down side. But we had a great time. The staff was really nice to us, they even brought my little one crayons when he needed a break from painting. Its also in a great location. There's so much to do around CMM. Food, movies, etc. You could plan an entire day out. The other down side is you have to return a later date to pick up your finish product after it gets fired up, but that's expected during a process like this. And it's worth it. This place is a bit pricey for what you really get... a ceramic piece and some paint, but a few of my girlfriends decided to get together for a "girl afternoon" at the Glen. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and thought the place would be quiet, we were wrong, we waited about 15-20 min for a table and they squished us into a smaller table just so we'd sit down...we called ahead and they said they'd have a table for us, guess not. We picked out our pieces sat down and started picking out paint colors, after this point, it was super hard to get the attention of anyone to get more paint, or brush. There was a 6 yr old b-day party going on, so their prime focus was the kid group. I waited about 5 min by the paints, trying to get someone, finally poured it myself. Since I painted my whole piece one color, and just added small details in diff color, I went back for paint like 3 times (you get paint about the size of a quarter on each run). I found it rude to have the lady say "oh your back for MORE?!" Ya, believe it or not, I am back. I was trying to make my piece look like a non-5yr old painted it, lol. The place was loud, could have been cleaner, and not really worth $25 for a small candy dish. But if you want to sit and get away from feeling old, guess you can do that here. The pieces were fired nicely and had a glaze coat to make them shiny. We asked if the lady could write on the bottom of our pieces something along the lines of "girls day" she missed doing it on all the pieces :( read more

Only gave it three stars because I thought the service was below average. The girls who worked there really weren't interested in showing us what we needed to do in order to get paint, etc. Pretty expensive too because they charge per person in addition to the piece that you paint. Their website advertises it as having activities for infants but I definitely wouldn't bring my daughter back until she's at least three or four. Not a horrible experience, but not great. I LOVE THIS PLACE ! My daughter did her first "master piece" in color me mine and it turned out to be fabulous. She was very happy and proud about her little art piece. This is a great place for my kids and me. We could spend time working together and talk with each other and also get something unique to decorate our house. It is a little bit expensive, but I feel it is worthy when I think of the happy time we had. We can keep the art work of our kids forever ! That is priceless, isn't it ? Way over priced! The young girls that work at the location are lovely and helpful, but the final cost for two pieces was $68. While the children had a nice time painting the items they picked, it was not worth the cost and the less than one hour we spent there painting. Will not be returning due to the exorbitant cost. I would also add that it is a tight squeeze at this location and difficult for the children to see the items placed on the higher shelves because of all the tables and chairs in the way. read more

We signed my daughter up for their summer camp program weeks in advance of summer. The afternoon before the camp was scheduled to start, they called me to say the camp was cancelled due to lack of enrollment. When I asked why they waited until the day before the camp began to tell me this information, the employee responded that she had just now checked their enrollment list. This was terrible management, and unfortunately, we had relied on them when making our summer plans. I subsequently spoke to the manager who did not even sound apologetic. I would recommend going to Painted Penguin or other better managed pottery painting businesses. read more

DON'T GO THERE! Not only is this place extremely over priced but the staff is rude. I went to Color me mine with my daughter, my sister and my 2 nephews. Between the two of us we spent almost $200 which is insane for what you get. Then we both had issues with our piece and it has now been 3 weeks and we still don't have our pieces back. Turned what coulda been a bad experience into a great one. Long story short, when we went to pick up our pottery, it was not available because the wrong family picked it up or they lost it. Needless to say, my kid sister was upset. Not sure what the cause ended up being, but they found it a couple days later and they drove to our house and actually dropped off the pieces! Not only they, they gave us a refund! Not only that, they also gave us a gift card! Talk about a great way to run a business. Very disappointed! Our friend invited us to this place to have something to do on Saturday night with our son. Place closes at 9pm and that's how it is advertised everywhere. We got there at 8:30pm and were informed that they won't allow anyone to paint after 8:15???? It would be ok if it was advertised that after 8:15 nobody is welcomed. Our friends were already there but I guess they arrived before 8:15 and were able to paint. My 5 year old son had to stand there and watch his friend have fun for half an hour. The place is open till 9 but really it's not? Pretty confusing, isn't it? Staff is not helpful either. We asked for a small cup that my son would be finished with within 15 minutes but I guess for the staff it is more important to leave at 9 sharp! Good for them but I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've hosted a birthday party here for my 6 year old and her classmates/friends. I've come here with my 8 year old to help her create/paint a mother's day present. I've also come here just to treat my kids to a fun indoor activity that we all enjoy. If your child enjoys painting then I highly recommend Color Me Mine. It's not cheap, but I feel like the prices are in line with what similar activities cost in suburban Chicago.
