Painted Rooster has big portions and really great service. The vibe was fun and welcoming and you definitely leave full. I ordered the Caesar wrap and it honestly just missed the mark for me. The lettuce tasted a bit old and it lacked flavor. At one point I actually checked to see if there was any dressing on it. That said the pickles were amazing, easily one of my favorite parts of the meal. My boyfriend got the tenders and those were a hit. Super flavorful and cooked perfectly, which made me want to come back and try something different next time. Overall I would definitely give this place another shot and order a different dish. It is a great addition to Plaza Midwood and I am glad to have it in the neighborhood.

I've been to the painted rooster a few times now and really enjoyed it each time. They have great options and a wonderful salad menu. It's really nice because you can make this place as healthy or as not healthy as you want it to be. I like the chicken tenders a little better than the nugs. The fried pickles are delicious! And they have good waffle fries. Occasionally they have live music on the patio which is nice they also have TVs out there if you want to watch a game. They even have a cornhole setup.

Aesthetic: Hip chicken shop run by deadheads. My Favorites: The Anchor Bar Buffalo. Experience: We loved the theming and could feel Jerry Garcia watching over this place. The Anchor Bar Buffalo sandwich with grilled chicken was very good. Try it with the mac! The BYO salad was okay, for some reason the amount of romaine was overwhelming, and it wasn't well balanced since it was huge. The ratios just need a bit of work. Maybe serving it in a regular bowl would have been better. Maybe I need to try a different combination next time, but I'd try again for sure! The waitress with dreads was very kind. We are looking forward to trying more of the menu soon.

6 elevated garlic Parmesan bone in char-grilled wings

Staff is very kind and down to earth and place looks cozy. I enjoyed just they are not the best wings I've tried in the area nor appeared out of the ordinary. A solid 3 star because it's still enjoyable and I am coming back to try more:) I got the Elevated Garlic Parmesan and the Pasta Salad (this one I do recommend). The wings were marketed as char-grilled and although they showed the burnt areas on the skin they still lacked that punchy smokey flavor from a usual char. Also the garlic parmesan is more of a dry-rub than creamy. They also came out very fast, and although it it's nice to get your food early, it poses a question on the cooking.

Came on a weekend afternoon and was able to sit outside. Most of the outside is shaded/covered and they do have fans out there to keep you cool and minimize flies. We ordered 6 wings, 3 tenders, and nuggets which came out to about $28. I enjoyed the choices of sauces. My favorite were the Parmesan and garlic flavors. The tender/nuggets were extra crispy. I had blue cheese with my wings which was very chunky- which I like. I wish it was in a bigger condiment cup as it was hard to dip the wings in there. With my wing order I had 4 wings and 2 drums. Service was friendly and quick. Our waitress checked in often. There is a small parking lot available but street parking was also easy to find. There is corn hole in front of the restaurant which can be nice while you wait for your order.

I am very excited for this new spot in the neighborhood! We went this past weekend, around 1pm. They told us it would be about a 30 min wait, which we were fine with. We grabbed a beer at the bar and sat outside while we waited. They did let us know the kitchen was backed up as well so it might be longer than they originally expected, but again, we understand with them just opening and still getting the kinks worked out. The server was so friendly and made sure we were taken care of. One recommendation I have is, I do wish they had draft beers, or offered mimosas or wine by the glass. The only option was to buy a bottle. The overall vibe is perfect for Plaza Midwood, and when its not so hot out, the patio will be a hit. We started off with the buffalo chicken dip which was a 10/10. HIGHLY recommend! My bf went with the charred wings, and I got a BYO Salad with tenders tossed in Honey BBQ. The tenders were pretty big and the flavor was good. You definitely get your money's worth. My bf also liked the wings. He got a side of the "too hot to have on menu" sauce, and it was definitely HOT but tasty! I definitely want to go back and try some of the other menu items. The sandwiches/wraps sound good, as well as the Mac and Cheese options. Overall, Plaza definitely needed a new restaurant in the area and we're excited for this one.

We had an awesome dinner at Painted Rooster tonight!!! The vibe, the food and the staff were all excellent - we already can't wait to come back! I was impressed by the number of options on their menu (and the owner, Zack, told us they've got more items coming soon!) - it's definitely chicken-forward with wings, tenders, nuggets and sandwiches as the highlights, but they've got an extensive build-your-own salad section and several different types of mac-n-cheese too (so it's not just chicken & beer, people!). Cool to see that they offer meatless chicken for vegetarians too. I also liked their drink variety (fun that you can mix and match different beers in a bucket!). And I love what they've done with the former Zada Jane's space - funky decor plus plenty of TVs and both indoor & outdoor seating. We decided to try the chargrilled wings (we did half sauced with honey lime sriracha and half salt, pepper & garlic dry rubbed), the tenders (with hot honey for dipping) and the seasoned waffle fries - everything was truly excellent! That was some of the juiciest chicken I've ever tasted (especially the tenders), the fries are amazing (sometimes waffle fries can be dry/hard but theirs were clearly house made) and the sauces and rub were so perfectly flavored and seasoned. Seriously can't think of a bad thing to say about anything we ate! Given that it was their opening week, we understood there being a bit of a wait (and we were able to grab drinks at the bar while we waited) - but as soon as we were seated our waitress, Bridget, was quick with putting our orders in and our food came out quickly, and Chrissy was so kind to check on us multiple times. Welcome to the neighborhood, Painted Rooster!

Quick and easy service. Our waitress was very attentive with our needs. Directly off a semi-busy intersection and small parking lot. There is plenty neighborhood street parking on the same side street so no issues there. Food was good - Ordered boneless wings (nuggs) w/ fries and a salad. Was impressed by the large size of the fries and salad. Highly recommend.

Food was REALLY good - and surprisingly the pricing was amazing. For a large chicken sandwich and any side you like (I did the waffle fries) it was $15. For a really high quality meal that's spectacular. The waffle fries were so good - very seasoned and not soggy. I go the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the Buffalo was delicious. Not too spicy and had the perfect amount of kick and flavor! They do such a nice job with the space - a wonderful new addition to Plaza Midwood!

This new neighborhood joint in Plaza Midwood has taken the space previously occupied by Zada Janes which was a local favorite. They had big shoes to fill! They market themselves as a wing join sports bar, and being a big fan of wings I knew I had to make a visit at some point. I came in with some buddies on a Saturday evening to watch the UNC vs Duke game and have some food. The hostess was very friendly and after a brief wait sat us at a booth. They do not have draft beer but they have a good variety of bottles and cans including some cheap domestics. That combined with the amount of TVs makes it a solid place to catch a game. I ordered six of the cheer wine barbecue wings. I was tempted to ask from them chargrilled but I didn't want the smoky char grill to overpower the flavors of the barbecue sauce. Looking back I wish I had them chargrilled, the flavor of the sauce was a little weak. The ranch they served them with though was delicious! Overall the wings were ok. I want to go back and try their Mac and cheese with their dynamite chicken. It sounds delicious and I think I would enjoy that more. Only other complaint I have is the bathroom situation. Since it's a smaller place they only have single stall bathrooms men and women. When it was a brunch place that probably worked better but when the place is full of people drinking beer watching sports and a lot of people have to go, it leads to some long lines! Still this place is a cool neighborhood sports bar and a fine place to catch a game. I will be sure to update once I've had a chance to explore some more menu items.

I highly recommend! Ambiance was busy yet spacious enough for you to enjoy your meal and drinks. Service provided was excellent and very attentive, Colby did a fantastic job if making me feel welcome and very helpful when it came to the menu. I recommend you ask for him when you visit. Food was hot and fast to order. I enjoyed my experience at the Painted Rooster and I look forward to returning soon. I hope your experience is as good as mine!

Our server Tori was GREAT. HE GAVE FAST SERVICE WITH A SMILE. He kept our glasses full. He checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. He allowed us time to enjoy our food and didn't rush us. The portion sizes were plentiful! He was friendly and our lunch was enjoyable. Parking is a little tight though. Their parking lot is small and you may have to use street parking or the lot across the street but it's worth dining here. The hostess was a little shy but aside from that all the other servers were very accommodating.

    Example

As someone from Buffalo, I'm including a picture of how saucy your char grilled wings should be. Less than this is just a dried out wing that's slightly burnt. Take note. Over sauce your wings.

Wow what an experience! I'm in Charlotte for the weekend, and my good friend's colleague…read morerecommended we come here after dinner for drinks. There's outdoor seating, and initially we wanted to sit outside but we didn't have reservations. Luckily, they seated us at a small corner section near the back of the bar. It's very cozy and intimate inside. Just my type of vibe. The service was top tier. They were unable to validate our parking because of some sort of discrepancy with the signage outside and lack of having the proper equipment for validation. To make up for it, they offered us complimentary champagne to start. We were not expecting that, and pleasantly surprised! Their menu has an eclectic selection of cocktails, both full and mini. We opted to order from the mini cocktail menu, and we each ordered two drinks. I had the Creepy cucumber cocktail and it was refreshingly sweet and probably my favorite drink of the night. I also ordered the Don't Shy Away which was a sour and spicy rum concoction with carrot in it. It was definitely spicy and had a puréed texture. I really enjoyed it. And, then don't get me started on the music!!! The dj was masterful. He played all the types of music I love and he mixed them in such a refreshing way. I ended up asking him for his contact information before leaving, and whether he does weddings because my fiancé and I are currently looking for a DJ. He was just that good. This would definitely be my spot if I lived here in Charlotte. It was the perfect way for us to end the night.

It's a small intimate setting and I do love the dark aesthetic they did. Gives it a swanky vibe and makes a great date spot. But they were burning incense in the tiny space and it was overwhelming. The other bar guests sitting next to us agreed. *They did finally pick up on it and the staff moved it toward the kitchen door* Staff was friendly as well, though, it was busy and looked as if they had a trainee in tow, so attention was lacking just a bit. So why we came: The drinks were average to me. One was weird (Pineapple Fried Rice) and I just couldn't get it sit well on my palate - and I tried - sip after sip. But the mixologist saw my struggle and swapped it out for a different one. I did like the Don't Shy Away - it was an interesting take on a margarita with a strong carrot base. The Whispering Dove was a take on a Paloma and I couldn't find the lemongrass infusion on my palate. So I found it pretty basic, but pricey. So overall, decent. And I might stop buy if I was stuck in the area again.

Luckily for them there are plenty of good options, one of which is The Free Range Bar! Free Range Brewing is one of the older Charlotte breweries that has been around since 2015 during the height of the craft beer craze. Due to their years of fostering a community, it is no surprise to me that they were able to open up a satellite tap room years later. This second location is smack dab in Camp Northend surrounded by plenty of patio seats outside, and featuring a quaint little barroom inside. This smaller tap room has a more intimate setting. The people working there are friendly and they have a variety of beers to try along with other beverages if beer isn't your thing. While I don't think this is a replacement for the original, it does a good job paying homage, and provides great beer options for Camp Northend.
