We came in for a Valentine's Date date night. The class was sold out if that helps to set the tone. The staff was super nice and friendly. They seemed to be running around like they were understaffed, but I am not sure. Our class was scheduled to start at 7:30, but it didn't get started until right after 8pm. I'm all for giving people a few extra minutes to come in and get settled, but 30 plus minutes is a bit much for a scheduled class. We were rushed the entire time and had 30 minutes less to complete our paintings. Overall I enjoyed myself because I like painting, but I'm not sure I would go back if the experience would end up being similar. I sat next to a drunk couple and did not get to finish my painting fully. The drunk couple sucked, but I understand we can't control how others act when drinking, but we can definitely control when the class starts and being set up better. read more

My girlfriend and I had a great time painting while enjoying a few drinks at Painting with a Twist! We went in early December and the place was very COVID-friendly - groups were spaced out and masks were encouraged (we just took them off for the photo). For those who haven't been (and this was our first time), they make it very fun for beginniner painters like us to have success by walking you through the painting you'll be creating. There is also a "bar" where you can buy a few different types of beer/wine to drink while doing your painting which was fun and not too expensive. They provide everything including aprons, brushes, paints, etc., with the exception of the drinks, which you buy separately. We will be back! read more

So much fun! If you are overly obsessed with your pet, you need to try one of the "Paint Your Pet" classes at Painting with a Twist. It's more expensive than the traditional classes but absolutely worth every penny! You send in your favorite photo of your pet, the artist sketches the photo, paints the eyes and nose for you, and when you arrive you do the rest. With some wine of course! During the class there are 3-4 artists walking around helping with paintings. They make color suggestions, give you a strategy if you're stuck or if you are a pro you're free to do as you wish. They have a bar with several different types of beer/wine and some small snacks available for purchase as well. The owner is so sweet and even made coffee for someone in the class who specifically requested it. This is a really fun activity to do with friends, coworkers or family. Everyone gets into it - even if you aren't artsy - and you're always amazed at the end result! Special shout out to Heather who saved my picture after my failed attempt to be creative at the end of class. She was extremely helpful, patient and kind to everyone in the class. Date night with hubby! Loved the private room and the mini bar as well! I strongly recommend getting there early to get situated and get your drinks ready ahead of time. My first paint & sip experience did not disappoint! My friends and I went online to select a painting we all liked and booked our reservations ($35/person). Make a note in your reservation if you'd like to be seated with friends! Price includes your 2-3 hours of instruction and all materials (canvas, paints, brushes, easel, smock, etc.). Beverages are separate, which I appreciate because you're not paying for something you may not want! Note that sodas and water is available (only $1 for the water!). The studio is bright and spacious with a separate party room, perfect for birthday parties, bachelorette, etc. Miranda was our fearless and comical lead painter for the day, guiding us step-by-step through our creation. Example of her humor: she referred to our three paintbrushes as Big Papa, Lil Mama, and Tiny Tim. She had a headset and a monitor so we could clearly hear her instructions and visualize them on her canvas. My painting skills are meh but this experience was great in my book. I would recommend this studio to any friends looking to paint & sip, mainly because our class was "large" and we had maybe 20 people there, so it's a more intimate experience. Props to Taylor, the assistant for the day, for refilling our paint, giving us more napkins, and helping us correct our boo-boos! We went with my family last night as a pre-Holiday kick off! I have been to this location before and enjoyed the experience! Tonight was a full class too! They had everything ready for us which made the process easy and us able to enjoy each other's company while painting! I will say I think that we started off slow and started to get rushed towards the end to finish but it's all because we were preoccupied chatting and catching up with one another, haha. We had quality paintings to take home, each persons just a bit different from one another! The staff was really nice and patient too! Thank you for a consistently good experience! Attended a fundraising party here and had a very nice time! The studio was very clean, and the employees were very social and helpful. They have a great setup with a stage where the artist paints, and a sound system so you can hear all instruction clearly. There is a bar and some simple snacks available for purchase, but they also allow you to bring in your own snacks. Drinks are reasonable - about $6 for a glass of wine, but you can also purchase bottles. They have a drying station, too, which is a unique plus I saw here! read more

I have been to a couple locations, and the classes are very similar. The class today was benefiting the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation. Not only did we receive the painting we completed, but we were given Vera Bradley Market Totes, and this event raised $652 for the foundation. There are so many designs available. I came here with my sister for a wine and paint night. I've been to SEVERAL of these wine and paint nights before (because they're usually really fun), but this was my first time to Painting with a Twist. The wine selection for the night was about average, I do feel like a few of the locations I went to in San Francisco had more wine options, but I found a lovely rosé that I enjoyed. We started off the night at a long table with approximately 10 other people seated around. The vibe was nice, talking amongst the different people. Our instructor was a bit off-putting from the start unfortunately. She found out another person at the table had visited Iceland recently, and she LOUDLY dominated the conversation in the room by asking questions/making comments about Iceland. We finally started with the painting portion of the night, and I felt like the instructor did a nice job of not going too quickly where the room was stressed out trying to keep up with her. I do think she was a bit too preoccupied with everyone's picture looking exactly like her's however... I went to the bathroom, and my sister told me the instructor came over and made changes to my painting while I was away saying, "I'll just help her with this one part". Granted, it did make my painting look nice, but I feel that some patrons of these establishments prefer for strictly their own work to be the final product. Bottom line, okay time, but I've had better experiences elsewhere. read more

Rush to take a class here! We have so much fun. I love it. I took some art classes in college and miss being creative. It's so easy to paint here since you don't have to buy all the supplies. Classes are $35 and they have a HUGE schedule with a ton of variety. We have now been 3 times. I love doing the couples classes since we can hang our paintings together. But we have done 2 other classes where we have been able to change the art up to make them more unique. The last class had Indiana on it with the word LOVE and my husband did HOME and we did the state color different. They look awesome hanging on our wall! I may need a new house so I have more wall space! We gave one to his mom, a spring tree, she loved it. So you could even gift the art! But really it's a super fun time. The teachers have all been super nice and fun. I really enjoy the music they play in class and we have never felt rushed. My first class I got super stressed trying to make it perfect, but you know, once it's on the wall they look great! It's much more fun to just have fun! They have a bar where you can buy drinks by the glass or bottle. They had some snacks as well. Check out their Facebook page and the website for the painting schedule. They even have a party room where you can select the painting and bring friends! They have a very large catalogue. I bet it would be a lot of fun to have a party there! read more

I've been to many variations of these "paint and sip" places, and I've had (by far) my best experience here. The franchise partners Jeanne and Bryan Shirley are really great people. They're friendly, genuine, and they will make you feel at home when you walk through the door. I booked a private party for me and some family members, which was a nice because they'll put all of their attention and energy into your group while you're there. Our instructor, Shirley, was playful and did a great job during the two hour session. Drinks are very reasonably priced, so get there a few minutes early, loosen up a bit, and have some fun! read more

Jeanne was amazing in setting up our private party. I contacted her when another venue fell through. I explained what we wanted to do and when and she found a way to make it happen. Within 15 minutes of confirming that it was a go, she had sent me the link to share with my group. They kept me well informed on who had signed up and responded very quickly to all of my emails. The day of the event went off without a hitch!! Our artist was Allison and she was a blast. She took us step by step and was willing to slow down or come help one on one if you needed it. We've now been to this studio two times and both were a fun time. We did a couple's class where the 2 paintings coordinate, 2 kissing fish. It was fun and they really take you step by step so you finish with a nice painting. I was a little worried about how it was going to work, but it's a very relaxing and positive experience with very fun enthusiastic instructors. You can buy wine, beer, and snacks. Prices weren't bad at all and they had a nice selection. We've already been back for special where you bought a class and got one free. It was a Monday night class. With two almost matching spring trees I plan to gift my work of art to my mom for Mother's Day. They give you an apron, but the paint does stain. I did get paint on a long sleeve work shirt while blow drying my tree canvas. So don't wear anything too nice. We will be back for sure. read more

Great time here with my sister! We attended a Friday night class and both of us loved the atmosphere and painting. I've been to a few of these locations around town but this one was quite a bit smaller than the others (which was good in my opinion, so I could have easier conversations with my sister and the instructor). You do have to purchase your alcohol there - can't bring in any from outside. The instructor was super nice and very helpful! She would be quick to assist when needed. They also had a fun give away in the middle of our painting which made the evening even more exciting. Definitely would recommend to friends/family. read more

Pretty good instructor in a really intimate environment. Nice date spot. The only hang up is that I figured with the price I paid I'd at least get a free glass of wine. Alcoholic beverages are NOT included with the price you pay for the class. This is the 1st one I've been too like this. We used Painting with a Twist for a small work outing. The artist, Ray, was fantastic! However, there was so much miscommunication with the owner regarding payment. During the class, the owner was constantly calling and interrupting the class demanding payment for the extra seats, or she would cancel the class. The poor artist was so stressed and embarrassed by the owner's rudeness. And our co-worker, who arranged this whole evening, was getting continuous obnoxious texts from the owner. I ended up paying the rest of the balance just to shut that awful lady up. The owner, Kerry Sawyer, is incredibly unprofessional, abusive to her staff and customers and completely ruined what should have been a lovely night with our work family. read more

I hate to be the one dissenting opinion but tread with caution. My son was unable to make a class due to my illness. I call immediately to notify them that we just couldn't make it. The lady took my information and was kind but no one got back to me. Two weeks later and an unanswered phone call, I finally got ahold of someone. She informed me, in a very rude manner, that they will not issue a refund or even schedule another class for him because the paint and canvas were "wasted". Absolutely ridiculous and a waste of 35 dollars. The class was not missed on purpose but due to illness. I was told that is might be possible to put him on standby but that she might just bump him anyway. Unfortunately, this will not continue to be a place that we will to. Your unwillingness to deal with others has lost you a customer permanently! read more

Having no painting experience and very little artistic talent, did not know what to expect when I signed up for their "Paint your Own Pet" class. (In this class you send them a picture of your pet - which they transfer to canvas - which you then paint). Was amazed at how the instructor was able to guide me and my shaky hands thru putting down the layers to actually make my painting look like my son's dog (a gift). It really looked good given my artistic level. Was also happy that they offered an "SOS" session where they will have an artist help you fix your picture if needed (I wanted the hat on my dog so was not able to finish in the regular class even though they let me stay late). Was a fun experience and the painted pet picture will make a great gift for any pet lover. Definitely recommend this location. read more

Came last minute as a group of 6 for a date night and the staff couldn't have been friendlier! You don't need to be an artist to have fun--they guide you through the entire process. Great drink choices to purchase at the bar and the option to bring or order in your own food if you'd like.
