Our first agent, the woman we used to buy the house (from Keller Williams), told us that we couldn't get what we owed on our mortgage if we sold in this market, and that the house would probably be on the market for more than six months. When I told her about our solar power system, the xeriscaped yard and the energy efficient appliances we'd added since buying the place, her response was that it would help us sell "faster" but not for "more". I strongly disagreed. After all, I had paid $15,000 for those improvements and couldn't see how that would not factor into the price. So I called up the Denver green home real estate experts at Green Door Living and in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, Christian had us under contract using a wide range of online and offline marketing channels. The entire process went as smoothly as it could have possibly gone and, six weeks after being told that I couldn't sell my house within six months, and that I couldn't get what I owned out of it, we were signing the documents and collecting a check for $8,500 after the mortgage and all fees were paid.
