We (4 adults and 2 kiddos) ate their twice and came back for drinks another night. They chatted with us both nights, played '80s American music and sang with us and had fun. Now the food. Freshly sliced prosciutto for the Carbonara (no peas), awesome! Pizza for the kiddos...gone in minutes. My wife's spinach ravioli in a light red sauce was delicious. Yum...why are you still reading this...come here!

We tried a couple of the others but this was our favourite. The staff here are friendly and have such a great sense of humor. They were definitely a huge part of our good experience. Thier choice in music was sensastional as well. The semi industrial look of the inside blends well with the exposes brick walls and the comic printing plates decorating where we sat. I got the lasanga, which was perfect. The cheese is so creamy with the contrast of the tart tomato sauce- I couldn't stop taking a bite when it was fresh from the oven, risking burns. Of the dishes my family ordered the other stand out was the carbonara. I cannot find words to describe how good the sauce was. Anyways it was such an experience that I'm writing this while wating for breakfast at Nostrale.

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

Both the indoor and outdoor tables are lovely (we tried both after our wives were too cold in the wind), and this was the best service we encountered during a week in Florence. Not only were the staff accommodating and brought us everything we needed, but they also steered us toward so many things we weren't going to get, with insistence and good humor. And they were right. The Albanian sommelier and my wine-obsessed buddy fell in love, talked for ages, and we ordered three very nice bottles (classic) as a result (after our spritzes). We had a steak dinner planned for later, but we still ordered the exceptional Florentine beef, just because we couldn't leave without trying it. They blew my mind with the savory mushroom flan, and the fiochetti di pera (perfect purses of pear pasta in a silky cream sauce) were one of the best bites of the trip, and my life. We honestly weren't expecting much, but it turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip.

There was not one thing that I could suggest to make the food more enjoyable. As for the staff, it was like reuniting with family that I haven't seen in years. I would return to Florence just to spend another evening at this amazing restaurant. If you have a chance be sure to eat at 4 Leoni. Rosella is a gemCiao my friends!
