Jackie and Lindsay are fantastic! I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. Jackie is the owner and they both are there working a lot. They are friendly, competent, extremely customer service oriented, and constantly making service improvements. We are in and out of town a lot and rely on them to ship quite a bit of stuff for us and also to receive a lot of shipments--and they always come through for us. This is a quintessential customer service business, and to succeed in it you have to provide a very high level of service, and this is something they do in spades day in and day out. Eric has been helping us ship things home from Carmel for years. Friendly professional service. He does an amazing job packing and making sure things are just right. He finds the best deals whether it's via USPS, FedEx, or UPS. Everything we've shipped from there has always made it home on time and nothing has ever been broken. They are super kind in there, knowledgeable and have great relationships with the USPS office in downtown Carmel and the various delivery drivers. I could not have been happier and more impressed in my dealings with Pak Mail in Carmel. Eric, the manager, helped me arrange cross-country shipping for a large number of tubs, a few art pieces, and a couple miscellaneous items. There were time concerns, as we were leaving the country the following week. Eric and the owner, Jack (?), had a plan and materials ready to go the next day. This place deserves the highest rating possible. It's a family run business that I've used countless times. I use them primarily for packing. Their rates are amazingly fair. I had a lamp to be shipped and it came out to nearly 30% of what the UPS Store tried to charge me at the crossroads. I routinely receive compliments from my customers who receive items this store packed. I've also had paintings crated here and it was 20% of the cost of the UPS Store! The only downside is their prices for UPS and FedEx weren't discounted but they were a little cheaper than what you pay on the shippers websites. read more

I forgot my glasses at a near by hotel, I live In LA so I couldn't go back to pick them up, I ask the manager if there was anyway I can get them ship. I was told to call this company by the hotel manager so they can pick them up and ship them to me. I called the company and Erick was very helpful I got the glasses within 2 days. read more

I used PakMail Carmel to crate and ship an expensive piece of artwork to an auction house in New York City. The owner of PakMail Carmel assured me that his company had been successfully crating and shipping fine art, especially paintings, worldwide for the last eight years. Since Carmel contains many art galleries, I assumed that his claim of success were well founded. Reality would prove otherwise. He sent one young man to pick up what he knew to be a heavy painting. The man used no gloves and did not wrap the painting prior to taking it from our home to the packing store to be crated and shipped. The next thing I knew was when I received an email and pictures from the auction house indicating that the painting had been damaged in shipping. The professional art handler at the auction house confirmed that the foam inserts used to secure the paining in the crate were woefully inadequate for a painting of that weight (about 35 pounds) and that the inserts had slipped away from the frame of the painting, thus allowing the painting to hit the bottom of the crate and shatter the paintings wood mounting board and incur more than $1500 damage. While I had insured the painting and will be reimbursed for the repair of the damage, the value of the painting has diminished due to the damage/restoration, and will bring a lesser amount in the auction. The insurance company will not pay for that loss of value. Also, my insurance premium - and availability of insurance - may well be affected by the claim. My advice: the owner of the store talks a great game, but his talk is not matched by the store's actions. The crate and the packing was inadequate. read more

Jack the owner of this establishment is extraordinarily rude!!! Every time I have been in here he is rude! I myself as a business owner would never imagine treating my customers as the owner of this business does. Over this Christmas Holliday season I had asked for a box to be made for me. A simple cardboard box for shipping an item. I was promised this would be done for five days. Every time I came to pickup my box it was not finished, On the fifth day I arrive to the store with my young child to have the owner this JACK scream and yell at my child and I in a violent manner. In all my life I have not ever been treated so poorly and aggressively by any business employee especially not the supposed owner! I will never be back! I will spread the word throughout the community In which I live and this business operates! Despicable, Carmel should not allow this location a business license. Complaints will be made to corporate PAKMAIL! read more

These folks have got to be the nicest and most honest people on the planet! A Pak Mail employee happened to see my husband driving away from a Carmel gas station with his "man bag" on the roof of the car. The employee (Eric) saw the bag fall off, so he kindly grabbed it and tried to follow my husband to reunite man and bag...but couldn't catch my husband. He took the bag back to Pak Mail and he and another kind employee sorted through the wallet (with quite a bit of cash in it!) and found our home phone number in Santa Rosa, and our email address on a business card. My husband searched the streets of Carmel after he realized his bag was missing, but gave up and we drove back to Santa Rosa, depressed and feeling pretty crummy about the loss of the bag, the wallet, the credit cards photos, drivers license and prescription glasses. We put holds on the credit cards, debit cards, etc., not to mention a substantial amount of cash, and resigned ourselves to the next two weeks of hell -- waiting for new cards, replacing the DL, buying new glasses, etc. We were sooooo thrilled to arrive back in Santa Rosa to a phone message AND an email telling us of the recovery of the bag. Not only that, but they had already packaged the goods and had them ready to ship back to us the next morning, once we verified our home address. If I were lucky enough to live in Carmel-by-the-Sea, I would not hesitate to use this wonderful business for any of my shipping needs. Their honesty, integrity, "extra-mile" mentality and efficiency are totally impressive. Need to get those Christmas packages off in a hurry? I just love coming here. They are always open at reasonable times and they are just so friendly and easy to work with. I always come in with last-minute packages (that aren't even properly packed) and they are more than happy to wrap everything up themselves. They don't even charge for packing materials like tape, etc, (most shipping places charge you to buy a whole roll of tape just to pack something up!) Just an all around friendly neighborhood business that always seems to make my day a little better. Yay for Pak Mail! Keep up this great place! :-) read more

Do not use this business for your shipping needs--they are unscrupulous and greedy, marking up their profits enormously, only caring about "staying in business" and more than actually serving their customers. They mislead and lie about rates. They ignore you when trying to reach them. The owner and employee accuse each other of lying to avoid either taking any responsibility. This is the worst experience anywhere and they don't deserve your patronage, not even for a postcard. If I could give negative stars I would. read more
