This post office is a lot slower than the one in Marina, so anytime I'm in the areas I visit this location. I needed to ship off my passport renewal application and was too afraid to do it in my own. I came into this location for assistance with shipping out my package and ensuring I have all of the right documents. The first person to help me was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, when we got to the end of my package she informed me that I have to pay either by check or with a money order as this is all the department of state will accept for passport renewals. I was forced to leave, go to the bank, and come back. At this point, I was helped by a different employee that was helpful- but a little rude. It is a nice little post office and the service was quick. I wanted to purchase a particular stamp the the clerk went to the back to get it. I appreciate the workers there since some of the customers are particularly difficult. The person before me could not fill out a form and didn't have the information needed, like an address and zip code. DUH! I wouldn't blame the post office or the workers for a customer's inability to come prepared to mail a parcel. Maybe that's why the lines are long. I usually do all my post office business in Marina, but decided to come here. I had a package to mail and drove by a post office, and thought, well, get that chore done. The COVID protocols are in place with markings on the floor to indicate correct social distancing. The service was also outstanding. Goodness. Those Postal Workers having to work under the current circumstances happening in the world. It is quite scary. There was a line, but it moved quickly. I was a bit concerned at being around so many people, but dang it, COVID has everyone, especially me, afraid to be around too many peeps. I probably won't be going out of my way to come to this Post Office location. But only because is not my "go to" Post Office. I always have excellent experiences here. Even if there is a line, it moves quickly. Not quaint and cool like Carmel post office; but efficient, friendly and tidy. Parking and box drop letters, no problem. Easy location for access, nice staff and a good place for pick up; especially, when your mail carrier has problems delivering your packages on more than one occasion. My beloved last carrier retired, bless his heart and ailing knees. The replacement mail carrier has issues delivering packages, to your door. If the Amazon, Macy's or Kohl's packages fit in the mail box, you are good to go usually. However, I have a very safe neighborhood and I guess he feels leaving items at the door is not a good idea. We were lucky to find an appointment the next day coming all the way from Millbrae, CA. - it wasn't busy and we were taken care of immediately. This is the best post office. In the last year and a half I have been here many times and am always pleasantly surprised. Lines move quickly, staff is friendly, and things get done. If they see you have a prepaid package, they tell you to put it on the counter and not wait in line. You can make an appointment for passports here, too, which we have done with success. The people here are so helpful and nice and yes there is always a line here during the middle of the day but that is because a lot of people in the area have e-commerce businesses and use this post office. Moved into a new house almost two months ago. A month ago, we called about getting our P.O. Box locks changed, Said that it should be done that Saturday or Wednesday, considering those are the only days they'll do locks. They also mentioned to expect a call once completed. No problem. A week after they said that, we called up to ask about the issue. "We haven't gotten to changing your locks yet," was the only thing they told us other than to continue waiting. Now, we've waited 1 full month to get them changed and nothing. No call or information on when it should be done. Never more than 2 employees on register, doesn't matter if there's a line of 20+ people outside like there was 15 minutes ago. I've never been inside here; so far, all I've done is use the drop-off boxes. They are set up so that the driver can put his letters into them, which is more than I can say for the outdoor mailboxes outside the downtown Monterey branch. I want to use this as a way to compliment this post office for correcting somethings that my husband and I had a big problem with. I came to this Post office to send papers via priority mail; however, my husband and I noticed that their U.S. Flag was being flow inappropriately on only one islet. When I arrived at the counter, I address this with Rose who had been working at the post off for years. She immediately told be she would figure out who had put up the flag so that they could take it down, took down my number and told me I would be called when the situation was taken came of. Sure enough, about 1 hour later I was called by the manager of the Post Office to extend her sincerest apologies, told me the flag had been brought down and would investigate to see who had placed the flag and re-train them. I appreciated her for taking the time to address this concern and remediation the situation. The wait time at the post office was typical. Only 2 people at the counter, so it took a bit to get seen, but service was excellent. read more

A friendly post office with drive up mail boxes up front, full service postal services inside and post office boxes for rent. PO Boxes are $30 for 6 months and the prices gets a little cheaper when you pay farther in advance. Hours when postal services are available are shorter than when the building is open so expect to come in between about 9am-5pm. They are closed entirely on Sunday. UnAmerican: Seaside Postmaster Refuses to Abide by US Law and Honor Former President Bush Pathetic Leadership from this so-called Postmaster! Despite the direction given in US Flag Code Title 4 law, and the despite specific guidance in a proclamation from the Executive Branch, the Postmaster at the Seaside Post Office has recently refused to fly the US flag at half-staff through 30 December to honor the passing of former President George H.W. Bush. As of Friday, 21 Dec, at 1000, Postmaster Wes Stephens (who cowardly refused to provide his full name to me) had been flying the US flag at full-staff in violation of US law and direction from the Executive Branch. When I stopped at the Post Office to complain on Thursday the 20th, the postmaster's staff informed me they knew the flag should be at half-staff, but the postmaster told them to keep it raised to full-staff. This had been going on for several days, apparently. When I stopped by the PO this morning on Friday at 0900 to discuss directly with him, he said he had received no direction from his superiors to lower the flag to pay proper respects to the former US President--even though EVERY OTHER Post Office on then peninsula was complying with the law! I handed him a copy of the 1 Dec 18 President's proclamation and a copy of the US Flag Code showing that the flag is displayed at half-staff for 30 days to honor the passing of any living or former President. He told me, "I don't take instructions from customers." I asked him why he refused to, when every other Post Office on Monterey peninsula was flying their flags at half-staff and he replied with great irritation at being asked, that he thought it was only to be done for 3 days and, again, he never received any instruction from his superiors. He was clearly agitated that anyone would question him, and he made it equally clear he had no intent of making the effort to even find out if he was wrong. So, I called the Postmaster at Marina Post Office and asked him if he had received any instructions on how to display the flag in honor of former President. He was incredulous that I even had to ask if his flag was at half-staff. He said, "Oh yes! We have been instructed to fly the flag at half staff through the 30th of this month." I asked him if he could call Wes Stephens and convey the proper information to the Seaside Postmaster. He said he would, so perhaps by the time I post this, Postmaster Wes Stephens will be compelled to place the flag in its proper position through the 30th of December and then, beyond. Nonetheless, I am extremely disappointed by the reluctant behavior and stance of this Postmaster to ignore the requirement to properly honor US law, the Executive Branch, and former President Bush and his family. He should be fired for intentionally not performing one of the most honorable duties that he is sworn to conduct. I urge you to join me when I say the Seaside PO will get NONE of my business in the future. I will not spend another dime to support this Postmaster. WTB read more

I'm just wondering why some days my mail doesn't get picked up ? I put it out in the morning before eight, knowing the mail usually gets picked up between 3 and 4 ,but just in case. I just checked it at 7:45 pm and the flag is still up and my outgoing is still there. Bills don't get paid it it doesn't make it before the oh shit date. This post office is horrible! Don't ever request next day service from a merchant to be delivered to your post office box, it takes at least TWO days for it to be sorted and delivered or found. I've gone back later in the day to see if an important package I'd been waiting for has been sorted, and it's still not ready. I would like to know what the criteria is for leaving packages in the lockers in the lobby? Especially when one has paid for overnight shipping? They are chronically short staffed with long lines that stretch out the doors into the lobby, and phone calls are rarely returned. This is a bad example for a vibrant and growing city. The staff are good. Someone else already hit on the main problem--the parking lot is tricky. I'll explain: The parking lot is a one-way street. There isn't a turning lane to get into it, no matter which direction you're coming from. It's tough to safely get in if you're turning left. Traffic behind you will back up. The natural inclination (from either direction) is to turn at the light...but this will put you at the parking lot exit, not the entrance.
